Its funny, I learned snowboarding as an intermediate rider on a Slash Straight. I considered it a middle of the road flex, loved to butter it, and it felt very playful overall. After 5 years on Yes snowboards I tried it again for nostalgia. F*ck I couldn't ride it :D I could barely get it on edge. And it was only a 161, and I had a 163 back in the days.

You mentioned the Kazu, compared with the BSOD, which one would you recommend as a second board to use on and outside the slope on pow days? I've also been eyeing up a couple of the Korua boards but having a hard time choosing. There are not many shops close to where I live which is why I will go with one of these brands. I'm an advanced rider, been going since the 90s, just never really paid attention to what I rode because I couldn't afford to, but now I can. So where should I spend my cash? I'm 5''10 and weigh between 185-200 depending on how much money I have to buy food.

Great vid as always, any insight into the differences between the Commissioner and something like the Souly Grail? Looking to add something big to my quiver for the season currently switching between a few year old Super DOA and a Valhalla ( not including my split ) but I the Valhalla is actually better for icy conditions over chop imo
@AngrySnowboarder3 ай бұрын
Flex, sidecut, construction.
@JacobStolberg-yc6yw3 ай бұрын
Ya the sidecut is gonna be the noticeable difference imo. Coming from a commissioner with an ~11m sidecut even down to say an 8-9m sidecut the board will feel vastly more apt to turn. If you wanna do long fast soul turns get the souly grail, if you wanna laugh at chunder and go Mach 11 go commissioner. You will give up a good bit of maneuverability and rideability to gain the speed and aggression.

Id really like to see an Asym Twin comparison video with the Rides boards, the 2 Gammas, and the Greats. You could include the Mervin boards I guess but I'm not a fan of their profiles. Im looking at a Zero or Twinpig for a new park board (maybe a normal Gamma although I can find last years Ride boards for half off rn) and probs a Gamma APX to replace my beat up Greats for everyday all mtn
@coloradoruffneck42303 ай бұрын

Angry never did an asym top 5 boards, did he? I have a Head Aything LYT and I love it!
@cheut3 ай бұрын
@@barrbozz a top 5, but theres really no single best board in any category, its all dependent on riding style. Like I'm not gonna consider a Mervin board or something flat cause I want camrock but would ride full camber with lifted contact points. Asym is a small enough category that you could make a video talking about every board and where it shines from park to all mtn to pow. Where like directional twins prob benefit from a top 5 or 10 video cause theres way too many of them to talk about all of them
@PacketOfCereal3 ай бұрын
If you want an Asym for park and Ride’s are on sale then get the Zero. Avran hates the TwinPig. TwinPig was my first board, it’s just ok, way more popular than it should be. Yes Greats is great, but more all mountain daily driver. Wouldn’t buy that board for the use case you’re looking for. Ride Benchwarmer is also asym but will be too aggressive for you as it’s more high end freestyle board. Capita used to make a board called the Asymulator which was super cool, discontinued now though. Ride Zero is what you’d want. Both Avran and TC highly rate it too.
@cheut3 ай бұрын
@@PacketOfCereal Yeah I was heavily leaning towards the Zero over the Twinpig cause Im a size 8 boot, and I dig last years Zero graphic. And a Gamma APX to replace my Greats. the assymulator seemed cool, but it had the least amount of sidecut radius difference of all of the asym boards I looked at and I didn't like my Mercury
