Have you heard of any possibilities of making a CGM that lasts more than 2 weeks? Seems like if they lasted longer, or if they has a method to clean/sanitize them at home before reapplying, the cost would come down significantly.

Nice video, I diagnosed with T1 and use the FreeStyle Libre sensor with Blucon transmitter, I track blood glucose readings on watch and phone constantly and the phone beeps at night when the glucose is out of range.

Welcome back to the mainland Katie! This was so useful. I particularly liked your breakdown of the subscription model. The potential for CGM to guide targeted lifestyle interventions is, to me, incredibly valuable and worth the cost.

Such a fan of CGM data! Can't wait to see if Levels can achieve their goals! I'll pay for this monthly if they can get it down to around $100.

$200 per month = $2400 per year!!!?
@katie_moore2 жыл бұрын
yuuup... It's an expensive product but unlike a fitness tracker where you get only 1, here you are getting 24 devices over the year. It's not cheap yet. some of that is BS red tape from the medical industry. as rules relax and demand increases I think we could see sub $100/month in the next few years. I doubt a 2 week CGM will cost much less than $50/tracker.

Do they have any mental health tracking features? Like I’m forever trying to correlate how my ADHD symptoms follow my menstrual cycle. It’s nice to see that they do look at women’s health because I know that hormones maybe affect insulin sensitivity but like a ketogenic diet seems to help brain fog a bit (not the main problem with ADHD at all but getting rid of fog obviously helps)

Why is it so many people are trying CGMs and non of you can post your actual results. That information is what is important if you are trying to figure out what optimum is for different people. So we all have something to compare ourselves with. I personally could care less about results from eating keto pre packaged garbage how about results from eating a whole food diet daily results. Obviously no one gets this, why is baffling. Why is simple, i am 55 was pre diabetic have changed my life with diet and exercise but would like to see what healthy individuals day to day blood sugar looks like to be able contrast my own results. If you get your blood work done and for example get your A1C your goal would be under 5.0 but that doesn’t tell you what other peoples between meal and evening blood glucose numbers are.

Thanks so much for such an honest and informative review - i'm so interested to start using this - I'm in the UK so will see if it is available me. Also, please may I ask you about all the things on your desk from the footage of you chatting to the Levels guy - i'm fascinated by the devices i saw but have no clue what they are - for example, did you sip from a mug that then rests on a plugged in holder - is that to keep it warm? Thanks in advance x

@@katie_moore this is interesting because the company says it doesn't support this. I have an RX for the libra and want to pay the membership for the app, but it says it doesn't work with existing libra link accounts. $200 a month? Are you kidding? Not happening unless my insurance pays for it and that's not happening because I'm not diabetic....yet. Only then will they pay for a CGM. Must be diseased to get insurance relief. What a system! I'm on fixed income. No way will a Levels membership ever be happening. I've been Insulin Resistant for many, many years trying to get control of it. Drs. are clueless! So poor people who really need it to PREVENT becoming diabetic are just out to lunch I guess.

Katie I’m pretty surprised at you. You rightly gave Oura grief for their obscene subscription model profiteering exercise but the ‘shoe is on the other foot’ when the company pays you for endorsement it seems. I agree with you in that this CGM looks fantastic from a product perspective and provides real utility to the user. However that all goes out the window with this ridiculous predatorial pricing structure. Once off purchasing models or nothing. The user should be able to own the equipment and their data. I want to get into the CGM biohacking game, I use a Ketomojo device for momentary blood glucose during prolonged fasts. A CGM would be a perfect fit for me yet not until the economics make sense. 200$ app membership is pretty comical. Let alone the extra few hundred for the disposable prick-implants.
@katie_moore2 жыл бұрын
Hey Stephen. First of all I just want to say I appreciate your opinion. You don’t have to believe me, but my commitment and promise to my community is to never let money, endorsement, sponsorship or any such payment influence my reviews or opinions. My honesty is everything to me and that will never change. I do agree that the price is too high to be realistic for most people to be able to afford. That said I do not think that the company is making huge profit margins. The medical industry has made it difficult to sell CGMs and there is a lot of red tape that companies like Levels have to go through to make this possible. Also levels is very transparent with their finances and business model. If you look through their resources you will see their financials are as available as many publicly traded companies. When you compare their prices with other companies trying to do the same thing, they are similar in cost. If you can find a CGM provider that is out of network for cheaper, please let me know. I am really hopeful that the pricing will get better. They know it’s prohibitive and are working hard to make it cheaper. If their margins were that high, they would just drop prices to increase adoption. Again, you don’t have to believe me or levels, but I would hope that you do your own research before writing me off or writing levels off as dishonest of money hungry. All the best.
@Stephen2697.2 жыл бұрын
@@katie_moore I appreciate you reaching out and I respect your content, it is genuine and refreshing - that is why I’m a subscriber. I was not trying to insinuate you were disloyal to your own review integrity but I definitely have a hard time seeing the consistency in slating Oura (rightly so) who offer a piece of technology which is an awesome tool with a new nonsensical & predatorily business model. This CGM as I said looks great but no one will buy one outside of Silicon Valley! The economics at play are obscene. Yes I totally agree that only Levels can figure out their margin trajectory but common sense should prevail. Economies of scale are the only way a product like this will achieve real world margins, shipping a few thousand units and charging a membership model like this makes it infinitely less profitable than a business model that ships 100x more units with an upfront billing system which doesnt leave the data subject at the mercy of the subscription model. Yes there are likely massive overheads I’m not accounting for in this product category, but a 200$ app subscription cannot possibly be an honest attempt to recoup service provision costs. I think we agree in principle, I accept you are a content creator and I would still appreciate you doing a review on these types of products but at the end of the day you didn’t pay for this and likely were compensated for this endorsement.
@katie_moore2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for clarifying Stephen! I agree this product is not ready for mass adoption. The pricing is ridiculous for most people. That's why I'm hoping it gets more affordable with time. My goal is always to be transparent which is why I mentioned that I have partnered with levels. I do receive a small commission on sales with my link. I also have received 2 CGMs from levels for free, however I have spent a lot more of my own money on CGMs from levels and other companies. But I'm an anomaly since I'm doing all this testing as part of my job. I'm not recommending anyone "do as I do". All the best

@MicheleSpring2 жыл бұрын
@@Stephen2697. I also have to mention that the pricing does seem high, but CGM isn't cheap in general yet. My son is a Type 1 Diabetic and we have good health insurance, yet we STILL pay $122 a month for his CGMs. That's our copay AFTER insurance with a qualifying medical necessity. So it is companies like Levels that are helping to bring this product to the "masses" and hopefully this will enable the price to come down eventually.
