I am aware that the nature of this band makes them rather unpopular with the Metal community at large, however Stryper’s new album “Even The Devil Believes” was one of my top releases of 2020. I also really enjoyed Traveler’s “Termination Shock”, Blessed Black’s Elric worship in “Beyond The Crimson Throne”, Dark Forest’s “Oak, Ash, and Thorn”, and Ambush’s “Infidel”, though that last one was more of a runner up as it failed to meet the excellent standards that Ambush set themselves with their first two albums. All these bands are either NWOTHM/Trad or actual 2nd wave acts that have lasted this long. I also really liked Throne of Iron and Cirith Ungol, but those are on the list. Edit 1: Upon further consideration Havok’s “V” is also very good.

Luan was my absolute favorite of the year. At the rate he's going every Ripped to Shreds album is going to end up near or at the top of my yearly list. Crossroads of Infinity was also very high for me. I stumbled across it by accident and damn, what a gem. Another one I quite liked was Electric Pentagram by Lovebites. They're like if Galneryus leaned a bit more toward heavy metal and was all female. It's sleek and modern sounding, but I'd be lying if I said it didn't kick ass, entertain the hell outta me, and have me coming back again and again.
