Very true, people downplay advisors role, until burnt by their mistakes. I remember just after my layoff early 2020 amidst covid outbreak, I needed to stay afloat, hence researched for license advisors. Thankfully, I came across someone of practical knowledge, and decades of experience, my stagnant reserve of $225K has yielded nearly $1m after subsequent investments so far

An obvious way to lnvest for a recession is to buy shares in businesses that are likely to experience steady demand even in a downturn. Typically, those are consumer staples, utilities, and healthcare companies, but off course such decisions cannot be made by an average Joe, a financial advisr is important in making this decisions

Hi Tracy..great to see you back and your “on the money” videos again . I was just wondering , what your thoughts on franking were? I appreciate its different depending on on the persons tax situation , but for say, the fully retired it can make quite a difference when selecting dividend stocks. Thanks again.
@TraceyEdwards Жыл бұрын
I prefer franked dividends over non franked. But yes, depends on your tax bracket :)

Hi Tracey, fantastic video as usual! I have two questions, perhaps they could be future video ideas if they haven’t been addressed already? 1. When you are putting a company on your watch list, what are the things you are actually watching and waiting for? 2. Is this process part of your usual portfolio rebalancing? Are you selling underperforming stocks you hold and rebalancing those funds into, for example, these good value finds of the month, or are you just adding new companies to your portfolio? Thanks! Always looking forward to more

I'm going to do a video on rebalancing very soon, I'm planning it out right now :)

I’m compiling and picking stocks that I’d love to hold on to for a few years before retirement, do you think these stocks would do better over the years? I’d love to retire with at least $2million savings. Now you gotta rely on a pretty good diversification if you must stay green. Currently up 31% and being cautious. Still better deal than letting it sit in savings or checking earning near 5% interest

Im from Victoria and I am looking at getting into stocks in Australia instead of overseas. I've always been bad with money and putting money into stocks and I'd love to see more feedback and videos on the current rates and best ones to get into. I've got a Webinar with Shares in Value for a walkthrough with their website and I'm hoping not to get scammed.

Would you say it’s better to diversify through individual dividend stocks or just stick with etfs like syi and just increase your holdings in that? Just starting out but I only have ioz and syi at this stage.
@TraceyEdwards Жыл бұрын
It really just comes down to preference. Just holding ETFs and adding to them over time is a great strategy (and keeps things simple and easy). But holding individual companies mean you can have exactly the companies you want (or those paying in particular months if you're trying to get monthly income). Both methods can work great.

With markets tumbling, inflation soaring, the Fed imposing large interest-rate hike, while treasury yields are rising rapidly-which means more red ink for portfolios this quarter. How can I profit from the current volatile market, I'm still at a crossroads deciding if to liquidate my $125k bond/stocck portfolio

Worst house on the best index as the past has shown and you miss BOQ at approx,grossed up Dividend at 11% and probably growing after mismanagement dealt with, Qld moving into 2008 with the Olympics and the share price at 5 years low.

Global stocks headed for their biggest weekly decline in more than three months. European shares fluctuated, with a record 36% drop in Siemens Energy AG’s shares after a profit warning dragging on the broader market. US index futures fell. According to chief economist at UBS Global Wealth Management “Financial markets have had one of those switches in the narrative that happen occasionally, and are starting to worry about higher interest rates driving recessions,” I'm still at a crossroads deciding if to liquidate my $300k stock portfolio, what’s the best way to take advantage of the market?

@beverlyhills7883 Жыл бұрын
This video is too simplistic. When push comes to shove, it's usually the highest yielders that go bust, cut their divs & suffer massive capital losses. I've been watching the ASX for 36 years, not much changes. Excepting the big banks, few industrial companies with high dividends are able to keep their divs high. They either go bust or have to slash their divs.
@TraceyEdwards Жыл бұрын
I completely disagree. There is no correlation between high paying dividend companies and companies that go 'bust'. Companies fail due to bad management, low profits/high expenses, change in tech, change in consumer behaviour, poor cashflow, or any number of other reasons. Generally companies that are in trouble will cut the dividend completely, well before they close business, to try and hold on to cash flow. It's true that when the stock price falls, the reported yield can look artificially inflated due to how it's calculated, but that ignores everything else about the company. Also dividend growth and company growth ARE factors that investors need to consider (as I mention), as well as a good yield. It's never JUST yield. In fact companies with good dividend consistency and growth are usually some of the MOST stable companies on the stock exchange. Especially when you stick with the top largest companies listed.
