I have never seen a player get face guarded full court even when she doesn’t have the ball and get face guarded on the weak side corner. They don’t even guard Steph Curry like that. With that being said, her passing is elite so she is doing a great job of getting her teammates involved and they are all making them pay for all the extra attention they give Clark. I feel like her shooting with improve as she had to need a break after not really having an off season after grueling NCAA run. Sports is entertainment and she is must watch tv !! I never thought I would watch, let alone enjoy watching a WNBA game. Now I might even pay to see a game, if Clark is playing. Everything she does seems to be at another level as sellout crowds now show up to see her play. The thing that touches me the most about her is seeing her sign autographs for little girls. She may not get the MVP award this season, but I'm sure she's the MVP for those girls.

As for the crowd reaction, I saw your smile get bigger and bigger, too! Also the crowd is 3x to 4x larger than normal, too, and literally millions are hooting in their living rooms! Teams have switched to larger venues for almost every CC visit and people are demanding tickets at higher prices! The owners are being smart in that you don't turn a customer away if you can avoid it! I am enjoying your breakdown of plays and your explanation. CC does reward her teammates for running and you see Boston is much more in shape to run... because it is FUN! Those cheers are as much for her teammates and CC for the fun-to-watch play!

She had a habit of switching off on defense at Iowa and early in the year, she said as much, that being able to rest on defense wasn’t something she could do anymore. She still struggles to navigate screens which is pretty common, I think her on ball defense is actually pretty decent for the players she’s assigned with guarding. Some of her blocks have come from playing bad defense and then making up for it with height and IQ. She does tend to duck out of covering bigs when they’re forced to switch and that can be an issue if the offense recognizes it, like a playoff scenario where you play the same team over and over, so far I haven’t seen teams really take advantage of it. You could say a lot of things about most defenders, this isn’t trashing her. I thought she was bad the first 1/3 of the year but now she holds her own, that’s all you can ask all things considered.

She will gain 10 pounds of muscle this off season. But as a shooter you need to watch it the more muscle you gain the more it effects your shooting. She said recently she gained 2 pounds of muscle, since gaining that her shooting percentage went down. I also said Fagbenie is an older Hannah Suelke her teammate in Iowa. They do that run down the court thing. By the way she has 22 blocks and over 30 steals.

We'll see what happens the rest of the season. Also fyi, Clark leads all guards in blocks (and rebounds and assists). And fun fact: she's also 40% from 30-35 ft, and she shoots those logo 3s more than anyone else.

How can you be surprised about Clark's defense. She is 14th in the league in blocked shots and 12th in steals.
@1flash35714 ай бұрын
Her on ball defense isn't that good though. She is pretty good against players her size or under for blocked shots, She is also good at sneaking a hand on a ball when player she isn't guarding is near her. That is how she gets steals lot of the times. She does get steals from the players she is guarding sometimes too, but mostly from players she isn't guarding.

Really like your site. You focus on the game itself not like too many of the click bait channels that are obsessed with a lot of nonsense. Clark is clearly a generational talent and it looks like coming off the break she may be finding her three point range more. Like you I think that her court vision may be her greatest asset. She's a perfect point guard. She reminds me of Wayne Gretzsy, the greatest point machine in NHL history. As a center Gretz had ice vision and instincts like nobody has ever seen. He knew where all of teammates were in the ice and could feed them perfect passes which resulted in solid scoring chances. He always knew where Jari Kurri and Glen Anderson, his hgh scoring Hall of Fame wings were at all times snd they scored tons of goals playing with Gretz. Clark's vision is similar on a basketball court. She knows where Mitchell, Boston, Smith, Samuelson and the others are when she's got the ball in her hands and her pinpoint passing is unparalleled. Mitchell is blazing fast and even Indiana's bigs can run very well which, with Clark running the offense, makes the Fever a very scary team to play these days.

Great you video, great player, great commentary-- I really enjoyed this. Thanks! I didn't understand why you weren't way more dismissive of the notion that Reese and Clark were ever mentioned as competitors for ROTY. Reese is a great, energetic, determined and successful rebounder; Clark has a game. No comparison. That'd be like comparing Dennis Rodman to Larry Bird. And since it's obvious you know basketball, maybe you know enough about the history of the game, and about Bird, to appreciate that if you played this back and listened to your comments about Clark's game, almost every single thing you said (maybe there aren't even exceptions) are what has famously been said about Bird's game-- from the court IQ, to the passing (though if you know Bird's game or ever watched the vid. "Larry Bird, Greatest Passer (re-edit)", you know that he was an even better passer than she as a rookie, and of course he just got better and better, crazier and crazier, as Clark will. There were many other things you said that made me think, "Gee, he could be talking aboust Bird, but the only other one I remember you saying was about her forcing defenders to have to be ready for anything because she has so many options, and does all of them well (or something to that effect; maybe you'll remember Bird breaking ankles when he faked, because they had to be ready for great passing as well as great shooting, together with the fact that, as Bird famously said to his teammates, and as could be said of Clark, "You get open, I'll get the ball to you" Sorry to go on and on about this, but nobody seems to notice the eerie similarities, while I feel like the parallels are so many, and so exact-, that this omission by commentators, reactors and everyone else, is making me nuts! The two are similar even down to the phrases used when Bird was playing, and now with Clark, to describe their games. and the combination of crazy love and expectations going along with hate, resentment and racial issues, not to mention revivifying their leagues (Bird, that is, together with Magic, and their rivalry, which was genuine, unlike the manufactured "rivalry" between Reese and Clark). Okay, end of rant. Thanks again for the interesting, fun and enthusiastic video and for sharing your knowledge of the game!
