She used to very occasionally make a savoury crepe filled with minced meat and vegetables bit like balandėliai but without the cabbage leaf. Through this video, I started to long for my grandma's cooking again. I remember my grandma's bagoong; it was spectacular. After she passed, I refused to eat bagoong that wasn't made with her recipe. The way she cooked bangus was my favorite. Very little additional ingredients, but still unbelievably flavorful. Her spaghetti was impeccable. Whenever I'd grab a bite of spaghetti made with her recipe, memories of her would cloud my mind. I remember watching her cook when I was a child. As she sautéd onions, I'd watch. I was absolutely mesmerized. Luckily, my dad keeps her alive with her recipes. It always breaks my heart to recall the day I realized I'd never be able to eat her food again. I miss her. I hope she's happy now.

My maternal grandmother was a culinary legend in the family AND the neighbourhood. Even though grandmum had passed for almost three decades there are still people around talking praises of her cooking (my maternal family used to have an eatery, then a pub before that and a bakery before that). Weirdly enough, my paternal grandmother (pushing her nineties now) has little to do with cooking. The one who cooked in my paternal family were my late grandpa and first aunt.
