Nice review. I wanted to try this club this week when I went in fine fitting but they either didn’t have it or just didn’t have it for lefties yet. I ended up with a very similar looking club in the Titleist 818 H2. I really like it! It performed similarly for me as the Callaway did for you, only shorter...you beast! I only carry mine 215 off the deck. Hopefully, someday they’ll get a lefty Apex for me to try! It’s on my short List of clubs to try this year.

I've got the 2016 3h and 4h apex. Love them. Best I've used

These look quite a bit like the Hogan hybrids. Although they have weight screws you can move around the the club to move CG around. I love mine. Really compliment my gamer irons.

I have the 2016 apex hybrid and love it. Just the matt finish and the slim sleek look is awesome. But this one seems to be a bit larger. So I won't upgrade.

Hi Mike, having recently taken up the game (again) I'm in the market for a new set of irons. I'm a fan of hybrid clubs, owning two of the Cobra bafflers. Why don't you do a review of the hybrid type irons - Cleveland launcher hb/turbo, Wilson launch pad and Cobra T rail. It would be interesting to see how these stack up against each other.

Nice review Mike but what shaft were you using? Thanks.

in my opinion,, starting with x2 hot in 2014... callaway is definitely the best in hybrid clubs.

It's individual to each player. I had 2 Callaway XR hybrids which were very good but I tried a Cobra F7 and found it to be better for me. Swapped both my Callaway's for Cobra F7's.

It would be nice to see this compared to your 3 iron! I don't have a hybrid in the bag and I was wondering if replacing my 3 iron with a hybrid would give me more options out of more compromised lies (e.g. rough). I'm not bothered about the higher launch of a hybrid as I can get height out of my long irons.
@garyrunevitch85213 жыл бұрын
Great point Mark, you dont see any youtube reviewers compare different type of clubs but they really should!
@marksefton7513 жыл бұрын
@@garyrunevitch8521 I have since done the test and while it's a small sample size of one, it's pretty much as valid as that of a KZbinr....I bought a Titleist 917 H2 21º hydrid off a friend to compare and interchange with my 3 iron. I rapidly found that it does offer me much more versatility, altough in terms of distance it's more comparable (and perhaps even a little longer) than my 2 iron (18º)! So I now interchange my 2 iron with the hybrid or with my 3 iron (carrying both the 2 iron and the hybrid) depending on the course. Maybe at some stage I'll look at getting a hybrid to match up with my 3 iron in terms of distance but as I can knockdown the one I have without too much problem that's not too urgent at the moment. I do like having the option of the hybrid and I use it a lot, although I much prefer a 2 iron off the tee. I also battle against losing the ball to the left with the hybrid, which seems a common complaint....

Played the apex 16 hybrid w/ rogue silver for a couple years now, the Adams for years before that. Just bought an apex 19 head, not sure if I should keep the same shaft for not

This is going to potentially kick my 818H2 out of the bag. MILES of ball speed and keeps the spin in check. Cut it down a half inch or so and it becomes a fairway finding machine.

Great review Mike, I find it amazing that Callaway produces a more Adams like Hybrid than TM who paid $millions to acquire Adams!

Just ordered #2 with tour ad shaft. Absolutely the best hybrid I've hit, going to replace my 16 degree X2 hot pro. Always found everything wants to go left with hybrids which is why I keep going back to my 2 iron, no problem at all with this. Think this could spell the end for my trusty mizuno 2 iron (so much more versatile) and long.

@michaelnewtongolf which is your preference ... the ping g410 hybrid where it seemed you like the lie adjustment to avoid hitting to the left or the callaway you just reviewed ... thanks for posting ...

Positive crack! In this test were you using the 70s or 80x? Michael, now that you have hit the flurry of new products for this year I'd love to hear your WITB 2019 decisions. I think you probably need to hit the PING G410 LST fairway before reaching any fairway conclusions, but almost there?
@MichaelNewtonGolf6 жыл бұрын
it was 70s shaft. WITB coming over next month or so

Nice video. I’m a decent player (8 hdcp) but until recently, have always struggled with hybrids. So, do I hit them like a wood, or more of an iron swing??? If like a wood, sweeping swing, I struggled with consistent contact, and if like an iron, turned into hooks. I play TM woods, and Callaway irons, and last summer settled on Callaway hybrids that I can hit like an iron, and very happy - FINALLY. But it may be good for you to make a video about a hybrid swing.

a bit of both really but I personally feel more iron like delivery

Thanks Michael, always balanced and thoughtful review, great information. One specification that I find very hard to locate on golf clubs in general blade length and face height. So would really appreciate if you can give indication of "relative" hybrid sizes. e.g. I have tried a few models over the years (Ping G, few Taylormade's ) and a couple I know pretty well e.g. Callaway X-Hot and Srixon H45. Is the Apex 19 Same / bigger / smaller? More or less forgiving?
@MichaelNewtonGolf6 жыл бұрын
similar face length and height but I'd say the distance from the face to back edge of the club is more compact
