I don't know what belts you were using on this thing but for me, ground belts felt a lot more consistent than air belts. I think they are either aphe or saphei so it kinda makes sense since they go boom after penetrating the outer fuselage/wing skin. It's not a great plane but I'd take it over the Kfir just because it doesn't disassemble itself every time you do a sharp maneuver. Sick gameplay though.

@@jaek_898 The SAPHEI just acts as HE without realShatter while the 30mm HEI use realShatter. While guns with realShatter seem to perform actually quite realistically. There are some instances where they are lacking. A 30mm HEI should definately blow up a fuel tank instead of turning it dark yellow or orange. The fuel tank practically absorbs all damage to the other components but whether it catches fire is probably random.

idk if you are using the armored targets ammo belt, but it helps a lot when it comes to crit probability. I feel like the HE works sometimes but the SAPHEI if shot correctly destroys air targets most of the time, so i'm just sticking to it. But like you said, this gun is pretty hard to aim with no tracers

Defyn does seem to get very lucky, when I use an aim9l, usually the enemy pops a single flare and avoids it. Only time it seems to not happen is when they are clearly oblivious to me...

9Ls track pretty well at close range from the rear if they're still afterburning because flares take a little bit to warm up. By the time they throttled down and flares the missile is too close Youl see the ones i fire from further away don't track as well if they flare

For some reason, Gaijin really likes to give SAPHEI rounds the fuze delay and sensivitiy of HE shells. Meaning they will just explode on impact and not penetrate anything.

Aircraft like the Grippen, F35, and even F4 phantoms back in the day rely heavily on the weapons and sensors they carry over their kinematic performance to gain and maintain an advantage over an adversary. Aircraft such as the F15, F22, Typhoon, Su27/33 have incredible performance even if carrying less than ideal weapons or none at all. Weapons matter in warthunder however, due to the short distances and tendency of players to converge into each other, you tend to see the planes with excellent flight performance perform better ie F16C, M2K, Mig29G.

the thing is in real life the gripen relies kind heavily on electronic warfare and datalink to be an effective weapon, something which obviously is not in war thunder. I think something warthunder needs since we now seem to be entering the definitive era of BVR engagements, that there should be some sort of BVR gamemode, where stuff like the aim120s and aim54s can really do their thing

Can’t wait to get hyped for the gripen and then get absolutely stomped cause It’s gonna be a piece of flying 0.00003TWR junk (im from ikea land so im biased) Like yeah the grippy turns really good it’s basically a ufo but it suffers from the same problems as the viggen and draken, slight turn and all your speed is gone and it will take 4-6 months to get your speed back. Gajin NEEDS to let it carry the weapons it can carry not just the weapons sweden used on it. Rb74 (9L) and RB99 (120B) to IRIS-T and Meteor is a HUGE jump. The only way it can compete is if they let it carry BOL pods and add missiles like aim-9m, aim-120b and maybe A-darter to it

Nice vidz! Im actually trying to go to uptier with swedish jet, and man its so hard ! Rank 5 - 6 are not very good plane for sweden. I try to fly with the J32B but 80-90% im uptier... Any advise ? Should i stay with the J32B or should i go for an other one ? Wich jet should i research/buy first at R7 ? AJ37 look better than mig21 or J35D. Any tips/helps will be cool :)

I went for AJ37 first and it's honestly not bad but you have to pick your fights (come from the side, fire missiles, land, repeat) and gun is so far to the side that you actually have to use targeting distance setting but I avoid dogfights as much as possible, no matter the flight performance. I only have maybe a dozen games in J35D but I like it a lot more than AJ because guns are inside the plane (still far off center but at least it gets 2) and I like to carry 3x missiles and rocket pod for improvised flares. Almost 2 K/D in J35D and quite a bit lower K/D in AJ37. Edit: I skipped Mig21 because I'd like to get to know my planes and enemies before jumping to constant uptiers to 12.3, and J34 just try to spade for research bonus, it's flat out trash. Guns hit hard but it lacks flight performance, only has 2x 9B and no flares. It's an 8.7 plane at 9.0.
