I would say they need more top tier games designed around modern air combat for example: 8 v 8 air superiority -> hold air superiority over X massive region of the battlefield for 10 minutes. And you'd be rewarded for forcing enemy players to leave the region, while enemy players are rewarded for time spent in the region (essentially like "capping" a point) RADAR tracking and coverage should could for a lot as activity points. all in all, it would make the gameplay way slower and "more boring" so it will never happen. But hey, you could add stuff like strike/interception missions as well to make it more interesting

Yh, idk why most keep as much energy as possible if some aircraft, that only works at corner speeds and for specific aircraft, F-5E, F-16's, F-15's, F-14B, Gripen and m2k, you can use energy as an advantage, as for the mig23's, f4's, viggen's those aircraft's corner speeds suuuuuck. Meaning even tho they might have a decent sustained (20° or higher) the radius of that turn is also just as important, there is a reason the gripen can sometimes just sit inside your turns, it's because even tho the f16 (example) has 22° sustained, and the gripen has 21° sustained, both aircraft are at different speeds to do this effectively and also have a different radius, gripen, slightly worse, but a tighter radius, f16, better sustained, but slightly worse radius.

The Gripen solves the UK's top tier vehicle problem, now we just need something to grind to it, in my opinion the good jets stop at 8.7 with the Swift F.7. The issue could easily be solved if Gaijin gave us the good shit that we built, such as the Gnat, Superswift, replacing the Hunter f.1 with the f.4 and many other things.

Problem is the grind. IRL the RAF went from Phantom to Harriers and Tornado before Typhoon
@Sceptreshot11 ай бұрын
@@pogo1140 Yep definitely, but I don't just see it as a top tier problem, but a problem with the entire tree. The tree has had the worst options possible selected. For example the Swedish hunter is the same br as the Hunter F.1, but its an F.4 airframe with 2 extra aim-9B's. The UK needs the gnat, a better hunter, and some of the prototype aircraft we built. Whilst yes the RAF irl had huge jumps in capability, the UK still built a lot of aircraft and prototype aircraft that we do not see in-game. The gap from phantom to typhoon I don't even see as the biggest issue, that would be rank 6 with no decent fighter. The gap from phantom to typhoon would be okay if the phantoms got the AIM-9L's, also now the gripen is there but it could've just as easily been the BAE EAP to bridge that gap. The UK also does not have a SAAF tree so what was the point in adding the subtree. If we got an air-tree we could get things like the Atlas Cheetah at 11.0. The grind of the tree is just horrible and there's so few good aircraft when other options exist. I could make a huge list of aircraft i'd have replaced or added.

For those who are still surprised and confused by the Gripen in the brit tree I'll add some rationale. Beyond the fact that Britain REALLY needed a good top tier for ages now there is some logic behind this. It would be more accurate to call the British tree the Commonwealth tree at this point. For those who don't know the Commonwealth of Nations is an international Association of former British Empire territories. We already have Australian aircraft, an entire South African ground tree and also the Indian T-90. All of these nations are Commonwealth members. Thus do not be surprised if we see Australian or Canadian F-18s im the British tree in future and more vehicles used by Commonwealth Members. I also wouldn't be surprised if warthunder straight up just change the name of the British tree to the Commonwealth of Nations tree because that seems to be where they are going with it. It gives the the leeway to bolster a tech tree which kinda struggles towards the higher brs on both air and ground. Heck if they do go with this direction we could have a top tier Commonwealth grb lineup including Challengers, Canadian Leos, Australian Abrams and Indian T-90s...that is kinda terrifying...
@HunterSteel2913 сағат бұрын
Don't forget that we could possibly get an entire Indian Ground lineup as well as an Indian Air lineup which gives England access to more USSR vehicles as well as the Arjun (which is better than the T-90 in every way) and access to the Rafaele and the HAL Tejas. And more additions from South Africa will include an early T-72 with Thermals (bog standard T-72 but we installed Thermals into it.), the Cheetah and Impala for the air tree as well. There's a bunch there that hasn't been added yet, there's also the Rooikat Prototype and we really need to get our big wheelie boi from the German tech tree, but fit it with a 120mm cannon since that was the intention. There's also the possibility to make a 10.7 TTD with a 120mm cannon too.

Gripen empty weight is ~12,500lbs. Six times AIM-9M (actually RB.74 is an AIM-9S variant, which is to say AIM-9L without IRCCM) is about 1,200lbs. The JAS-39 only carries about 5,500lbs of fuel. Not a lot, especially for those who think fighting in burner is the only way to die. There is no 'take less, you'll fight, light, better' nonsense. Add another 1,000lbs for consumables, expendables, FIG, and pilot. 20,200lbs. Engine thrust is 18,100lbf. Thrust to weight ratio should be .89:1 at takeoff. Add a 500lb centerline tank with 400 gallons of JP-5 fuel as ESSENTIAL if you are not CAP'ing the airfield beacon and that's another 3,220lbs. Now your T/Wr is (18,100/23,420) .77:1. This is roughly the difference between an F-16 with a centerline and six missiles plus FIG and an F-4E with cleaned wings and 8 missiles + FIG. Ps dictates turn rate and acceleration as a function of thrust, _more than any other factor_. Do not listen to morons who insist 'huh-huh but it's a low drag airframe, huh-huh...'. Co-bullshit-ugh. The Gripen is not an F-104. The in-game JAS-39 accelerates like a UFO and holds Ps like a handgrenade because it's *Fan Fiction*. Early JAS-39 have BOP-B in the rear of the outer wing pylons and BOP-C in the upper fuselage spine. The BOL is carried in a separate, underwing, rail (when a suitable RB.74/RB.98 missile is fitted) because the wingtips are occupied by the RWR system receivers. The BOP-B have X6 cartridge magazines and are long dispensers, intended for cylindrical, 'magnum' class, EXCM like kinematic flares and the BO-2D towed radar decoy. The BOP-C are X8 buckets and are intended for 'fat case', square, high intensity, flares. BOP-B face straight back and are useless against flanking missiles which 'squint' on the target IRCS to ignore flares which bloom behind it. The BOP-C dispensers are located in the vertical tail fairing, ejecting laterally, and so fire flares which ignite while still over the jet, with the individual buckets flipped, side to side, so that two dispensers cover the right and left sectors when activated by the missile approach warning system. The MAWS is located in the wingroot fairing at the back and in wing LE corners at the front, for complete spatial coverage. BOL dispensers have 160 chaff packets each but these are so small that they are always fired in pairs. i.e. You don't get 320 chaff blooms as both left and right rails fire together. Chaff is almost useless against modern radar missiles as a trackbreaker, it slows down so fast (low mass, large area) that it skips out of the radar tracking cell while the ECCM of the seeker also recognizes and rejects it very quickly in looking right through/ahead of the bloom. When used, enmasse, chaff is a little more capable in messing with initial lockon during the BVR closure phase (Jaff is particularly good at this), which is why the BOL carries so much of it. Early (Swedish) JAS-39A mounted the BOL on the outer side of the outboard pylon but sacrificed BOP-B in doing so because the BOP-B magazine flares out from the aft side of the pylon integrated launcher, like the ALE-50 on the F-16, and so blocks the rearward facing chaff ejector. Presently, BOL is fitted to the rail launcher, underwing and early JAS-39A also put the MAWS here as it was not internal, initially. So... TOTAL FLARE COUNT is 16+16+12 (if BO-2D is not carried), with the EWS-39 electronic warfare management system choosing which buckets are triggered, depending on whether it's an upper or lower hemisphere threat from an FQ/Flank/RQ shot. Each SIDE of the jet has only 16, high intensity, flares. The JAS-39 also talks to the pilot, instructing him on break direction and timing with the EXCM blooms as there often isn't time for him to crank his helmet over (under G this can be quite hard) and look to acquire the threat. Threat Missile Launch, Auto-Fire Off EXCM, Heckling Helga: 'Break Left!', Done. The point being to exit the airframe from the seeker tracking window before it's IRCCM can reject the countermeasure and reacquire based on lead prediction. All while conserving limited onboard EXCM, under automated control. The MAWS knows if a missile is coming at you. It uses multiple EO apertures to calculate angular variance and if there is no change in threat bearing and no RWR associated seeker noise, it pops the appropriate CM. The in-game JAS-39A/C is thus massively over EXCM'd and flitting about like a gerbil on crack. Stop It. If you want to make the Gripen special, improve the homing model of the AIM-7MH (IMU + Inverse Monopulse + HOJ = very good angular target track averaging, even in the beam). And then add the BO-2D to seduce both the R-27ER and the AIM-7MH with essentially forced target centroid migration. If you want to do the JAS-39C, you are talking about the Blue Sky/Arexis external jammer pod which, together with the internal jammer for low-bands, provides 'Digital Stealth'. Swedish ECM is _very good_, probably better than the French, whose Rafale 'Spectra' suite set the standard. You literally do not see the late model Gripen coming. In 2014, JAS-39Cs visiting Red Flag snuck up on a pair of F-22 and almost drilled a section pair of CAPing Raptors, 'there but for the power of Pratt & Whitney', high stepping them away from the AAM-bush dicking. PS-05A doesn't have the CW to support RB.71. Before the arrival of RB.99, the JAS-39A was entirely a WVR airframe. That is why the JA-37 got the D-mod and hung around. The JAS-39C/D had the RB.98 (IRIS-T) and the RB.99 (AMRAAM B) as standard from service entry in 2009 and 2002 respectively and integrated the RB.101 (Meteor) in April 2016. From 2015, the Mk.4 radar has improved a persistent radar detection range problem (+100% at low altitudes, +40% at high altitudes), allowing the full range of Meteor to be exploited and, from 2025, the Mk.5 may be fitted to a few Flygvapnet 'formation leaders' to give broad-band AESA performance, as the type exits service in favor of the A2A optimized Gripen E (IOC 2023). C/D Gripen is an entirely different class of Predator and JAS-39E will be a similar step up with GE F414, ES-05 Raven, Skywards G IRST and more carriage station options. Point Being: The JAS-39 has some very special capabilities related to the Swedes 'total system' approach to blended kinematic performance and weapons system (avionics) engineering within an affordability/reliability cost capping metric. But it is still a lightweight fighter, it is NOT The Swedish Raptor. Stop treating it like a rocket ship. Stop giving it so much EXCM that it can abuse the go-gate blower option in close combat. AB is used to accelerate before snap-up from clutter, under STRIL datalink (a Swedish specialty). And for missile pole extension by getting the missile through the Mach to put a tip-shock on the nose before launch. Which gives you 20-50% more reaches-first F-Pole flyout distance, depending on actual firing speed. Outside of a very few, specialist, jets (F-15C with three tanks and a careful Mach point drop schedule. MiG-31BM because Jeezus told them to cut down a super tanker install two Saturn Vs and fit wings at 35,550lbs internal and 8,600lbs in two externals), burner is never a constant use A2A tool. If you fly like a mad fool, beyond your gas, Gaijin should make it so that you do not get to fly again, that day. You bring that jet home, you make the number of landings match takeoffs, 1:1. Or you go work for Dominos as a pizza delivery driver. Modern Air Forces don't have hundreds of throwaway jets to hand out to idiots. In the aforementioned Red Flag 2014, JAS-39C were often flying with a pair of 400 gallon wing tanks and a LITENING pod to give them passive EOID and provide sufficient regens to fight as Red Air and were certainly not top fuel dragsters when they were configured this way. Why does UK get a Grippen? I mean I'm sure the reasoning is bullshit but I'm just curious what wacky story Gaijin came up with.

South Africa use it
@left_ventricle11 ай бұрын
It’s not that UK got ‘British’ Gripen, SAAF uses Gripen and UK has South African tree within its tree. They could have added the actual British JAS 39 A or C, since Empire Test Pilot’s School (E.T.P.S.) either borrowed or licensed the use of JAS 39s from Swedish Air Force, but this would be going beyond reasonable. Albeit I’m unsure if that’s any less reasonable than F-16AJ.
@Nox_Desiree11 ай бұрын
It would be more accurate to call the British tree the Commonwealth tree because that's defo what Gaijin will do with it. Within the British tree with have Australian Aircraft, South African Ground tree and Aircraft and Indian tanks too. I can also see the Australian and Canadian F-18s being added to the tree in future. For anyone who doesn't know the Commonwealth of Nations is an International Association of former British Empire territories. I can defo see Gaijin adding more Commonwealth of Nations vehicles to the brit tree, maybe even changing the name of the tree to reflect this.

What's insane is the people saying the Gripen needs to be nerfed more are the same people who say the f-15 has a bad airframe (its quite literally the best plane in the game when flown correctly).
