Marion!!! This video is amazing and your enthusiasm is contagious! Obviously I share your love of books and cookbooks and totally cherish my childhood temple nursery school cookbook. Great call! I’ve been editing a new cooking video today (vegetarian sushi) which I hope you’ll enjoy when I post. You totally entertained me while I washed up all the dishes in my sink. Thank you!

I have a binder, too! I am organizing it (got ideas from the Kneady Homesteader and She’s in her apron. Also got ideas from Southern plate. I took her holiday notebook idea and am working it for Jewish holidays). I love cookbooks, too! I try to limit them to kindle, for space, but the old ones are on my shelf. All the deli cookbooks, Ratner’s, 2nd Ave Deli, Junior’s). The author of Zahav has a new one coming out in October! Also have every Southern Jewish cookbook I can find such as Simply Southern from Memphis. Spice and Spirit, the regular, the Pesach, and the planner. All awesome!

Oh my gosh you have such amazing tips!! Thank you so much I’m going to look into all these authors and especially the Kneady Homesteader, sounds right up my alley. Thanks for watching!

I’ve learned a lot from them! Kneady has a. Idea on making chicken pot pie. And she goes over how to make homemade cream of soup. Then I realized I could do that, but make it Parve! No more buying cream of chemical soup. And chicken pot pie was back on the menu!
@shartman21506 жыл бұрын
How would you make it parve? We have dairy allergies in our house and I'd love to try something new. Thanks. :)
@mcomeslast6 жыл бұрын
S Hartman she used butter, I use olive oil or dairy free margarine. For the liquid almond milk ( I have a soy allergy so I know the struggle). If you want it a little creamier a little almond cream ( a good one that isn’t just gum) adds body. But it isn’t necessary. Works for chicken pot pie, and chicken stews that use cream of soups for the base. Just take a sec, make the base (mushroom, celery, artichoke, anything you want) and proceed with the recipe.

kzbin.info/www/bejne/hJSaf3mAfL2pq5I here is Heather's recipe. this is the base for every cream of anything you will ever need. Parve or dairy.

+My Jewish Mommy Life : The NYT Jewish Cookbook is worth getting. I absolutely _love_ it! I am sure you’ll get a lot of use out of that book, should you purchase it. Joan Nathan has several Jewish Cookbooks to her credit and I own them all. 😂 lol They’re great recipes from all around the world. It’s definitely worth your time to look into her books. 😃

I love Ina Garten too! Love watching your videos. So sweet! 😊 I have a question not related so much to the cookbooks. But it is about books. I wondered if you would be interested in doing a video on what “Bible” you like to read from. I’m not Jewish however I am drawn. ( I feel I should have been born Jewish). 🤔😀😊Last year I read “ woman’s read the Bible in one year.” Now I’m doing a study using “the complete Jewish study bible” in English because reading the closest to the Hebrew writings gives a better understanding. I’m also watching an awesome study on the Torah (I’m in Genesis) using this bible. What do you like to use? Maybe you have pretty “bibles” and other prayer books. Books that can be easily carried in your purse when you feel like reading on a trip. I’m trying to learn Hebrew as well maybe beginner books about that. And, of course, any other books you enjoy reading for fun! And music that you enjoy when your feeling like touching deeper into your Jewish roots. Again, I’m not Jewish but I’m interested I hope I don’t sound silly....🤪

I loved this video! I have Jerusalem by Yotam Ottolenghi and same thing--most of it is way too technically advanced for me, but I love just reading it and ogling the photos! Lately i've been enjoying the Jewlish cookbook, great accessible recipes that are super yummy!

Nice collection! I love our synagogue and JCC cookbooks too. The one you got for your shower is probably the best! I've been married over 20 years and I wish someone had a recipe shower for me. How fun!! I also have a big recipe binder and it looks a lot like yours (except it's pink!). Thanks for sharing. I love cookbooks. :)

I have almost all of the Kosher by Design cookbooks - I think I am missing 1 or 2 from the collection. There is a blueberry/raspberry swirl cheesecake in one of them that is really, really good. Every time my daughter wants me to make her a dessert, it's that cheesecake. I am vegetarian, so I don't make a lot of the recipes in most of those books, but I love the Kosher by design so much that I collect them anyway. :D I also have the Plenty cookbook - I purchased it on Dec. 11, 2011, according to Amazon, and honestly, I haven't made one recipe from that book yet, and I don't know why...I just looked it up on Amazon because it looked familiar to me... lol - I have way too many cookbooks which I haven't used yet. I think I have a problem... but shhh, I won't tell if you don't tell. :D
