I've known about this technique for around 20 years, but I alwAys use it on the shoulder ans avoided the foot because I never knew which foot to attack when in position. The pointer finger on pinky toe makes it impossible to apply backwards. Good stuff I appreciate it

Thank you so much Trav! You are breaking the moves down to the critical points - a lot of books show the beginning, the end and now much explanation. I realize that's the weakness of how-to books. I remember when I was little and saw my first karate book and it had footprints showing all the places you had to be but of course it's like trying to learn how to dance with no instruction and hopping onto footprints which would make a pretty funny video. This is the first time I felt like I understand the basics of this hold (as well as the clinch, locking it in and moving the other guy. Fantastic. p.s. Yes - I have personal experience with some not so nice events.

Great video! Might want to add that people train this slower with a partner in the beginning. Your partner being locked up has to roll with that fast, hard hip turn that turns them over or an ankle or knee could get twisted without the toe pressure even being applied.

My background is in karate and am just starting to do sparring in the dojo, its not MMA though. My question is: is it worth to buy one of the paid programs for applying them in kumite?, I mean, I do know that ground and pound and jiu jitsu style stuff is not allowed therefore useless for my purposes, but I mean in terms of speed enhancement techniques, exercises, defense strategies, and of course body conditioning... what do you think? has anybody of you bought any of his programs? Thanks

Nice 👍🏼 instructional & pretty funny. I’ve been working on the toe hold. 2 questions: 1) for training purposes, not much chance you’ll tear your training partner’s knee once you have the figure 4 locked and yank him onto his stomach; 2) I get a straight ankle lock tap from takedown from time to time, I don’t go for heel hooks off failed straight ankle locks because can tear something easily, is going from failed ankle lock to toe hold a good transition?
@quasar46016 жыл бұрын
i dont know but Toe holds are far more dangerous than ankle locks. I would only use them on spazzy white belts who are trying to kill you. I would never use them on a normal person or blue belt or higher. I am just watching videos and putting together the move. Many videos say to turn the heel to your body as in a spinning motion as the toes go down It is pretty damn cool to control someone like that lol. You feel like a god lol. I am pretty new to grappling
@quasar46016 жыл бұрын
Keep it your body, too !!!
@FR-ty5vn6 жыл бұрын
David I’ve been at it for a few years now (blue belt) - you’re normally not supposed to apply toe holds to white belts - if you do leg locks on spazzes, they’re going to get seriously injured.
@quasar46016 жыл бұрын
But I am a white belt lol I do no gi so we have no belts but my skill level is still White. Would this be ok as some white belts would be fun to try on. Also a giant dude tried to do it on me last week but had the wrong grip

@DarthJacobi9 жыл бұрын
Yes, but he does his videos from the view point of a street fight usually, with that being said, he'll tell you and so will a lot of high level guys, if you take someone down, you don't wanna go down with them. With no rules, they'll just try something like gouging your eyes out etc.
@mrbest19816 жыл бұрын
Nice vid...basic jiu-jitsu for the most part, a leg kamura may work or may not work depending on your opponent's skill level. My experience though is most of the leg locks won't really work in those particular stand up situations, usually if you catch their foot, your opponent will drop into guard immediately, again it would depend on the opponents skill level in Jiu-jitsu, but it's intuitive to drop to guard when you get caught up in Jiu-jitsu, which will make that move obsolete, if I happen to catch a roundhouse, a kamura to their knee would be more of a fancy move that will only work sometimes, mostly against inexperienced guys. My go to move for countering a roundhouse is an immediate turning side kick right to the gut, or a spinning heel kick to the opposite side of the head. There are so many moves, and so many different ways to defending it but I find that those last two kicks are the most natural for the roundhouse counter. To each their own. I loved the video...just giving a different perspective. Thanks 😃

I have a "QUESTION" when im practicing my punches and im punching the air as a warm up. When i punch strong and fast a bit consecutively. I can feel the blood in my arms rushing to the point where its like a blood cramp I guess. Goes away after ten to fifteen sec. Does anyone else feel this? FYI does not happen when I make contact with bags or people. Also I have thick veins if that has anything to do with it?
@redman090110 жыл бұрын
in professional MMA, seems like a good move, street fighting you'd have to be really fast I would think, otherwise when you square the guy up you're putting your junk in arms reach to be tagged a few times. thoughts?

if your a banta or straw weight mma or jui-jitsu fighter thinking this wont work well cuz your body movement will be to well. just know there is another similar move to this for smaller ppl.(its same up to the toe hold/flip of the person) if your small and good bdoy movement so is your op. you can roll instead of flip him and grape vine the other leg.. once you roll it almost forces you into that finish.
