I came across this song when I lived in Berlin last Summer 2023.. As a young Irish woman living abroad, It was a gift! The following year I met Daoiri in the Traditional music course I took In Ireland. I told him this that I played his rendition all Summer in Berlin, and Asked if he would please perform "Creggan white hair" for us... A huge gift was received that day to witness this man perform this beautiful song., Go raibh míle an Fear Naofa. Daoiri! What an absolute lovely man.

The KZbin algorithm never ceases to amaze me. It feeds me the airport delayed flight vid, and then this. Over 3 million views on a channel that has 5k subscribers and hasn't released a video in 8 years. This has to be the best recording of a folk song I have ever heard, not to mention the best version of this song. Even Farrell's other recordings of the same song don't hold a candle to this one. I grew up rabbit hunting in Pennsylvania. Every time I hear this song it reminds me of one Thanksgiving morning my brother and I went hunting with our beagle. I flushed a rabbit and smacked my gun into a tree trying to get a shot off. The dog immediately picked up the trail and the chase was on. The rabbit and the dog were at it for two and a half hours. We never even came close to getting another shot. Finally we had to pull the dog off (because she was never going to quit) and go home for Thanksgiving dinner.

They were well-heeled with their fine motor cars, larders full of food yet chasing the fearful bonny hare for fun for hours. After losing sight of their humanity they also lost the bonny white hare.

Hairs are stood up on my neck listening to this for the third time in 24 hours. Thank you for showing us the beauty of the Creggan white hare's struggle. A perfect performance of great music.

Great voice with just a bit of nice grit. Some of the smoothest flatpicking I've heard in a long time. This man has a wonderful gift.

Still coming back and listening time and time again. It takes me to another place. I can envision being out in the hills. The dogs and hare running through the fog and the mist. You can almost feel it.
