You should watch the Escapism version she did for SNL. Breathtaking. What I like about her is that when she sings live, she tends to “tweak” and make changes to her songs. The SNL version of Escapism is my favorite.

Raye is so incredible! I definitely recommend more of her for sure. Her live performances are amazing, she just did the EMA's and her Brits performance from earlier this year was incredible.

Loved your reaction. So much truth ❤ I love how Raye is so outspoken about songwriters and how they are treated by the industry (Raye is a very accomplished songwriter and has written for so many big names). She did an interview where she explained that songwriters don't get paid upfront for the song (unlike producers for instance who do receive payment). They also don't get paid for their food or travel to the studio. Songwriters are also not allocated points where they earn from the song they have written like an artist or producer do. Each song is 100 points and songwriters get 0 points!! They only make money if the song is played on the radio. She talked recently about how labels will also pit songwriters against each other to drive the price down too. She also said that it's limiting songcraft as songwriters know that they will only earn money if the song gets played on the radio, so that is what is dictating songs now. She said that she recently asked a label who wanted a song she had written for 3 points and they were flabbergasted. She said that she feels that if no one takes a stand against it then nothing will change. She just wants everyone who contributed to creating a song to be rewarded fairly. I have so much respect for her doing that.

Hey Johnny thanks for another great reaction to RAYE. This is one of her greatest hits for sure, but not my favorite song from her, at least not this studio version (though you are right about the beats and obviously it works well for millions - just yesterday I discovered a seven years old RAYE song by the name of "Shhh" the beats and key changes on which are really fierce, I never knew she had done stuff like that, badass rap beats, but it works perfectly...) - Still I prefer her when she's leaning more into her jazzy side, I love her swinging, and with a live band... She did more of that just the other day, maybe you've heard she won the MTV EMA (European Music Award) category "Best Act (UK & Ireland) and on that occasion performed another live medley in the style of her great Brit Awards medley (you haven't done that yet, but it should be on top of your list...) - maybe even consider a double reaction, the Brits medley and the EMAs medley in one video, both aren't long so you got those done and can proceed with the full songs from her debut album. I think you should watch the EMA video a) because it is brand new and trending and would bring more fans of RAYE on your channel, but b) also you would love what she did there: For the first part she mashed up Escapism and Oscar Winning Tears, both songs you've recently heard, but as always, she switched them up completely with a new arrangement. Again she has a string section, a horn section, half an orchestra and a choir... and then, for the second half she's singing a full version of "Body Dysmorphia" - a very daring decision to pick such a song for a closer on an award show, only RAYE can and does pull off things like that - and she ate and left no crumbs, to whole thing is such a splendid, surprising and exciting musical and vocal journey again and she finishes it with a little scat as if she had done nothing serious... That woman is scarily brutal and fragile at the same time, I don't want to get in her way... - I fully agree with everything you said during your rant... Btw. I would add RAYE in the title of your video for better search results, and in the description there's still the link to OWT instead of the new one... Peace and love from BavaRAYEa, Dominik

Someone mentioned in chat about wishing to see a collab between Raye and Chinchilla. Thoughts? I understand your perspective regarding The Warning, but I do also feel it's not necessarily the record company or the industry pushing at DPA. They aren't over the top with how they present themselves. I think is a more natural progression for them, plus if you are specifically speaking of the one line in "Consume," I would venture to guess that they have used expletives at home, or hanging with friends. Once again, Raye delivers and prompts the rants as well as the breakdown of the song lyrics. 🧸

They’re both Londoners.. I certainly wouldn’t complain. 🔥🔥🔥 But Ren and Raye is slightly higher on my Wishlist. 😂❤ Also appreciate that Raye sends him on rants. 😂

I think a collab between them would be terrific. I'm probably the only one to have this opinion but I would love to see the two of them together "talking that shit". Some hard hitting bars with a melodic chorus. I can hear it alraeady... lol. I think that collab would be 🔥🔥🔥🔥But then again, anything they would do would be that. And I love that Rana appreciates my rants. 🤣💜🧸

13:16 I appreciate you for continuing to say such things regardless of public opinion. I sadly know very well how young children can be taken advantage of, even within the family. Let alone sociopathic record producers who use their money, power and control for heinous things. Two songs I would recommend if you haven’t heard them.. which broach this very specific topic are Jessie Reyez - Gatekeeper and Billie Eilish - Your Power Also Raye’s ‘Ice Cream Man’. 😢

Hey 👋 I found your channel through your first reaction and I love your energy. I would like to recommend another UK artist who is giving young women a different kind of role model. Her name is Little Simz and she is a rapper. Her style is similar to old school US Hip Hop and she is really something special. I would recommend Little Simz - Gorilla if you are interested. No problem if not I will still be around for your other reactions.

Thank you for sharing friend. Do you happen to know if Little Simz is independent and/or reactor friendly?
