Those elastic loops on the door holder, tie a bit of knotted small (2mm) line in the end of the elastic loop. Then you can get hold of it to pull over the toggle. I've done that on other tents, works a charm mate

I can confirm that three people will fit at a push,I got caught in a bad storm in the seirra nevada whilst hiking the pct that flattened and damaged my tent,a couple that saw my predicament had this shelter and let me sleep in it with them, abit awkward since I'd met them that second but you can defo fit three people in at a push 😅

Got the 2 person... what you said... just for me. Oceans of room! It has survived New Zealand - which is why I invested the ludicrous amount of money - for four months straight . Ok, I went to a motel during the cyclone, but it survived the storms. Nik Waxed it and off I went again. It has taken another battering at home, too and in France. The pegs are rubbish though and those tie-ups are too fiddly, you're right about that. I just scrunch and stuff! It is also tricky to put up in the wind and rain. I managed to put it up outer skin first and have taken it down inner tent first, but it's a pain. Nevertheless, I love it!

Great review! Absolutely spot on with all your comments 👏🏻 My Wife and I bought this exact tent early this year and love it! Used it for the West Highland Way in May and it was practically faultless. Plenty of room for the two of us on sleeping pads, our rucksacks stored out in the porch bit at one side and boots in the other one that we used as the front door. The fact it’s quite tall is great for getting changed and makes it a comfortable space to be in if you’re sheltering from the bad weather (you can sit upright!) It all packed down nicely into the bag and fit into the bottom compartment of my rucksack no problem. For the size & quality of the tent I’d say the weight is really reasonable. I’d agree that the only down side is the pegs. Firstly the lack of them like you said, but also that they’re quite short (saving weight I guess) and I’m not keen on them not having any sort of hook / curve on the top of them. If can’t get them in the ground at a shallow enough angle the guy line could slip off the top - plus the attached cord to pull the pegs out with feels like it might not last long if the peg is stuck in hard ground. Anyone considering this tent - Add some extra / better pegs and I’d 100% recommend getting it! Excited to plan the next trip in ours after watching this video 😁 cheers Haze! IG: @climbhighclub

Not for me that.... inner pitch 1st, lack of pegs, pole system seems flimsy for the size/profile of tent, I reckon those poles will break pretty easily in the British weather. Great video and dialogue. I also love Big Agnes kit as it always seems so well made. As long as people recognise it’s a three season tent then it should be fine. On my own three season tent (not a Big A) I simply bought some heavy duty DAC poles and cut them to size to increase the robustness of the tent. 😊

So you needed a 3 person tent? Here in U.K. £600 for this little beauty. I use the UL1 version at £400. I can’t fault the tent, it is a stunner! I love it. Money well spent in my opinion. I wanted smaller and lighter and equally as bombproof. I do use a set of Easton Carbon tent pegs that I already have. I have loads of tent pegs to be honest, not sure why, I just keep finding tent pegs I like and they aren’t that expensive, are they? Enough now, I won’t buy anymore! Thanks for the vid, I’m enjoying your channel.

How cool would it be if BA just threw x5 pegs in as 'extras' so they don't have to include the weight in the specs and customers would love them for it?

My two person has stood up to Borrowdale - my favourite place on planet earth - wind and rain in the Dales, a hoolie in Northumberland, storms in New Zealand and a rain-fest in France. I woke up after a very stormy, thunderbolt and lightening, very very frightening night, on a campsite in France. (Not really frightening, I was just reminded of Queen). All around, folks were hanging up kit to dry off. They were swapping wet and miserable stories. I couldn't join in. ☺

@@cjftrig3392 When you need to carry your gear, this is the kind of gear you carry. It holds up to rain aplenty and wind - if you get better pegs. I would not pitch it on the top of Scafell Pike in a hoolie. This is very much a backpacking, hiking, 3 season bit of kit. I've just done my last tootle around The Lakes for this year. I'm on 'weather-watch' from here on in. Off to the woods until March, now, probably.

Hazey another great video I have the Big Agnes Copper Spur HV UL2 which I know you had before - after seeing your video on that tent I bought one. I agree that the lack on pegs to cover all the points is kack for the price of the tent. I also agree that the tie back gizmos aren't the best. Unfortunately for me I was wild Camping on Dartmoor on Friday when the wind decided to 1. change direction and 2. didn't decided to follow any of the forecast for wind speed (why would it)!! and at 0030 the one of the poles snapped beyond using the broken pole repair splnt and I therefore had a pleasent headtourch trek for an hour and a half back to the car. what will be interesting is whether or not I can get a replacement pole section and cord. One other thing the ventilation in the fly sheet wont stay closed in heavy winds and when its accompanied by rain it absolutely pisses into the tent onto your head. Still a good tent but I wished i had taken my allak 2 on friday night. Cheers and peace

I will say, that pitch you had down on Lingcove Beck, that only grassy bit by the river, thats where my maiden camp with my X-Mid 2 p was, a great pitch. Im sure when you actually set it up its more solid than it looks, but i can never get behind only having barely 2 poles that look so thin and flimsy. I remember as a kid being in an incredibly sturdy 1990s generation northface yellow himalayan tent in admittedly very bad wind in Anglesey and one of the 4 sets of poles snapped despite them being about 2cm thick flexible and strong. One of my greatest fears would be getting caught out on the tops in something like that with bad wind because at least judging by the video it looks like it would get completely torn to shreds. But like i said im sure its stronger than it looks made by Elves as you say, and that sort of weather isnt the norm.

Not over keen on these American tents. Don’t think they are really built for the British weather. Rain , condensation and wind. Also pitching when it’s raining would be a faff. There are really good British tents like terra nova where you can pitch with the inner already attached and wind and rain proof. Personal choice but I’ve been on that roundabout where I’ve had the MSRs etc and gone back to a good old Terra nova tent. Enjoyed the review though and horses for courses 😂

Absolute nonsense - the Big Agnus is not an ultralight tent. What a joke. The tent weighs 3 pounds, 11 ounces and look at its' volume. My Dyneema floorless two person tent weighs a mere 6.24 ounces, 5 feet wide, 4.4 ft. wide at both ends of the 9 foot length, 3.74 feet high with a loop at the peak to hang the tent from above by about eight or more methods from above or a pole. Hanging it from above eliminates an pole(s). It fits in the palm of my hand. A floorless tent lower in weight, volume and you decide what type material and dimensions are suitable for the terrain and anticipated weather conditions. Additionally, you save the cost of the tent bottom and the waterproofing, The Big Agnus is sewn. My tents are constructed with glue, superior strength versus sewing or adhesive tape..
