I'm planting 1.5 acres of winter peas on Friday. I have a heavy clay soil and the Ph is 5.7. What product would you recommend at planting or when they start to pop ? Thank you

I have corn between 2-3 high right now. I just fertilized with 150# per acre with urea. Is there a foliar product that I could use right now to give it a better jump?

Thanks for the note. If you just sidedressed 150# of urea and have gotten rain there shouldn't be much more you need to do. If you haven't gotten rain and have lost your nitrogen application, there are foliar options (Plot Dr Foliar for example) that will help out. There are several others as well. Look up Plot Dr and give them a ring and they can help with your specific situation. Thanks for watching!

Remember that 150#’s of urea/ Acre is only 69 pounds/units of Nitrogen. A corn farmer usually puts 200-250 pounds/units of Nitrogen per Acre, and do so over multiple applications. I have seen some put over 300lbs/A.

Hi Darryl - glad for viewers like you! Not sure how that mistake made it in the video. That corn was planted May 19, so it was about 7 weeks when we shot the video. There were beans we videoed the same day for a different video that were about 4 weeks. Must’ve lost track of what we were talking about 😂The fertilizer is good stuff, but not THAT good. How many pounds/units of Nitrogen did y’all apply per acre on that corn?

@@alanevans1921 That corn got about 130 units of slow release nitrogen. Corn was planted following beans so we had good nitrogen credit from those as well. Our goal is 150 bushel corn.

Sketchy AF. So, you are telling me that you only used that liquid fertilizer on that corn? A liquid fertilizer that is a (1-7-12) mix and 10.4lbs/gallon? That equates to 1.7ish Oz of Nitrogen per gallon. Let’s just say you ONLY wanted 100#’s of N per acre (I use 180#’s of N per Acre for wildlife)……. that would be 961 gallons of that liquid fertilizer. At $76.00/ gallon= $73K per acre. Am I tripping or is my math extremely messed up tonight? I had to have messed up somewhere in my math, right? Highly suspecting video.

Hi Alan - Thanks for the watching an your comments. Nothing sketchy here at all, just maybe needs a little clarification: 1. You will notice in many of the videos we produce we always talk about the right tool for the right job. The corn we planted with Plot Dr liquid was not planted using the particular products featured in the video as that would be the wrong product for corn. In fact, if you go back and watch we address a few specific uses for each product featured in the video. Corn isn't one of the uses for those products. We could probably clarify that a bit better in the future. 2. We did use a different product that is, in fact, single application at planting for corn using slow release nitrogen. We have done it for several years. We also have done it with dry fertilizer (see our planting broadcast corn video for that information). We have to remember, we are growing corn for deer here, not to feed the world. We could side dress like some farms do, but we consistently grow 150 bushel corn this was and find it to be more than sufficient for deer. 3. Remember, the crop you are planting, the soil type you are planting into and the previous crop rotations all dictate the need for nitrogen and other nutrients. Some need a lot, some need none at all. Again, our message is ALWAYS, use the right tool for the right job. Bottom line, we were simply trying to cover a broad variety of uses of liquid products and emphasize there are a lot products for a lot situations. Dry products work great too, which we address as well. We will be doing more videos in the future on the topic and hope you will return to watch again. Thanks!

I must have missed something in the video. I understood it as only having to spray “that” liquid fertilizer once at planting to get the results that you showed us. One of the reasons I subscribed in the first place is because I thought y’all were unbiased. Then I saw this, and it wasn’t making sense unless you were being biased with that product. The nitrogen that product contains is very minimal. If you are using strictly for Nitrogen, you need a different product. I could see you using it on a legume because of such low N, but not for a grass. I guess I misunderstood the message of this video. I should have asked for an explanation instead of jumping to conclusions. I have just seen way too much false advertising and it negatively affecting the hunting community.
