My 2020 GTS 300 (named Vinny 😆) was actually stolen last July at 2 a.m. The thieves came with 2-3 guys who loaded it into a truck. I didn’t notice until I went to go to work the next morning and my Vespa was not parked in front of my apartment door as usual. Seriously, my parking space was 10 feet from my front door!! The next morning I thought I had parked somewhere else and didnt remember but quickly dread set in and I realized it was stolen. I quickly called the police and was filing a report when, in some twist of luck, I got a call (the police officer was standing in front of me) that my scooter had been found ditched! I had the handlebar lock mentioned in the video and the theives had tried to cut it off unsuccessfully and ditched it in a gully. ANOTHER police officer saw it laying in the gully, knew it was out of place, and ran my license plate which came back with my name and address and they contacted me. I was able to get a ride from a friend to a shop it was towed to 5 miles away and pick it up. Because it had been tossed there was some minor scratches (i have crash bars thankfully) and the handlebar alignment was off, but otherwise, FLAWLESS! It was a pain in the ass to go thru my insurance but mostly I was so sad 😢 I always wanted a Vespa my whole life and was able to finally buy one in 2020 and it was my source of entertainment at the height of the pandemic. To go off and ride in the mountains, by myself, on my dream Vespa. I really hate that someone saw MY Vepsa and decided it should be THEIR Vespa. I also no longer felt safe and ended up taking the Vespa across the country to a family member's home bc I was supposed to be moving out of the country temporarily for work at the end of the year anyway 😄 The Vespa was also my ONLY vehicle, I don't have a car so once I relocated it, I had to rely on Uber/Lyft and the train to get me places until I moved. No more just getting on my Vepsa and getting where I need to be! So inconvenient and infuriating 😡 The moral of my experience is that I am so glad I had the handlebar lock! It was very expensive when I installed it 3 years ago but it was absolutely worth it and ultimately saved my Vespa. I had another handlebar lock installed immediately! I also have the alarm installed but didn't have it on the night it was stolen bc it can be sensitive to the wind and I didn’t want it to go off in the middle of the night and disturb my neighbors at my apartment. I will put the alarm on and the handlebar lock at all times from now on. Lesson learned! All this to say, I WILL ABSOLUTELY be buying this product to add to my Vespa so THANK YOU for featuring it!!!!!! Wow!! What a story man! Just saw the video and that’s mixed my emotions!! Damn, it’s hard to watch! Unbelievable!! Between 4 guys!! Like omg! So sorry you went through all this man, I just can’t imagine walking out and not seeing your Vespa!? Damn, I would go crazy man! Thanks for sharing! It hurts to see people act like that! I’m glad you were able to recover your dream Vespa, but that was very unfortunate, Karma would take care of them one at a time! I’m sure! Hope you get to enjoy your Vespa again as you always dreamed and you don’t have to go through something like this again! I guess having a multiples lock system would make it even more difficult to carry it, the EasyBlock seems to be one the best options ln my opinion because it would make it hard if both wheels are locked… Thanks again for sharing such a bad experience and for sharing that video! Peace✌️

The “good thing” about when a Vespa gets stolen is that no matter what they do if they don’t have the key with the chip, they won’t be able to do anything! Vespa immobilizer system is very very good! You have to have good electrical and mechanical skills to be able to make it run without the original keys is nearly impossible! So I guess that's why they end up leaving it behind…

Thats true, I forgot about the key immobilizer! In my mind I know that adding yet another lock like the Easy Block is overkill but I am SO terrified that it could happen again that I kind of willing to spend any amount of money at this point to stop it from happening again! I ended up moving to Germany until the end of this year (my job has a location here) and I see SO MANY Vespa's everywhere and it makes me miss mine so much! 😭 I thought about buying one here but since I am only here short term I decided not to. But once I am back in the US I will be happy to be reunited with mine! 😄 The other part of my story I left out was the night before I had gone out to get food and when I got home I was going to leave the lock off because it's sometimes a pain to take on and and off. Plus I had never had anything remotely bad ever happen in my neighborhood (at the time). I vividly remember walking to my apartment door, turning around, and being like "you know what you should just lock it up, you always do - don't stop doing it now" and I went back and locked it. I am SO SO GLAD I followed my ituition!!!!!!! I really hope my story helps someone else - even if it is unlikely that it would happen 🙌 Also some pictures I just uploaded of the aftermath at the shop it was towed to after being recovered: drive.google.com/drive/folders/1g3WaV_67PkU59mo0w5PrzSGbKXj3E5Dg

Wow! That’s crazy! I have never had the need to lock up my Vespa but whenever I park is not in my garage I been using the EasyBlock and the handlebar lock as usual! You have the one the best lock system tho, that big chain on the handlebar does make it more difficult for thief’s, but at the end of the day any of theses lock system can be “brutally remove” the only thing would stop them from using it would be the immobilizer! And that why Vespas are Vespas 🤌 hahaha It’s really frustrating when you take care so much of you bike and all of a sudden these fuckers comes and mess the whole thing up!! It makes so mad!!! Love the color of your Vespa man! Such a beautiful thing!! I’m glad you were able to recovered! Hope you get to enjoy it as you always dreamed when you come back! Thanks again for sharing your story and all these photos and videos! I’m sure it would help lots of us in some way! Best wishes! Blessing! Ride safe and peace brother! 🙏🏻✌️

Hey! Thanks for the comment and the support! Why is that?

@@TheScooterBud Extra weight, potential lock interface with moving wheel. There was a time, first thing riders used to do to motorbikes is take sh1t off, make them mean and lean. Good insurance, good zip codes are a wonderful thing.
@TheScooterBud Жыл бұрын
Mmm not really, overthinking a bit with the Vespa… This is a cruiser bike not a race to be worry about weight and lean… To be able to engage the lock you have to ether kick it or use the key to unlock it first before push. Theses locks are even more popular on other bikes. Peace ✌️
