There is a passive where you can click it to perform on-lethal attacks only as well. Might also be fitting for the character to do :) This build has the same buildup as the superior shadow monk build, but one singular change in subclass does all the differences and I love that.

Very interesting build. I never tried monk before but this type of controller seems to be working rather well and i always preferred control characters more than brute force ones. I'll try it. Nice guide

Problem No1: you gave up 1 AC for "taking ASI to round out the stats" and a +1 to all Wis skills and saving throws. You want dex 18 wis 16 at lv4? Go 16dex, 16 wis, bump dex to 18 on asi at lv4. The only reason to go odd number is if you want to use the hags hair for one and a half feat for the other, but you can respec for that after getting the hags hair🤷‍♂️ the problem with that is you wont be getting Cha as high as it is, so why not take the even scores? 8str16dex12con8int16wis14cha then asi 18dex. Optimization: respec for odd con, tavern brawler +1con, elixirs for str and tavern brawler synergy. Back to the vid and I hope you haven't made this build on items, a build should be good regardless of gear

Also, for better skill spread and a possible reinforcement of a weak stat save, respec go rogue lv1, they get 4 skills with a better spread and int save. Also the rogue is built into this build, so why not maximize the benefits? Also, going Welf is redundant on a monk. Go human for an extra skill, since milita is wasted on a monk (light armor and shields), or if you just want better proficiencies and the movement, generic Welf is better as they get proficiency in better weapons so they're not easted, no armor or shields so its not wasted , and you still get the movement. Ty Lee isn't an elf? Well she ain't a Half Elf either, so go human in that case, wasting a feature.

Throughout the whole vid you were talking about her punching and not "dual wielding", and in the gear section you have weapons equipped. What happened to the thematics? In that case for maximizing damage you should've taken dual wielder and two weapon fighting🤷‍♂️and wield two non light weapons, like long swords, morning stars, rapiers, and you would've given yourself +1 ac for dual wielding. To note: I'm not shitting on your concept build, I want this to work, but I want you to think it through next time. You can make builds based on thematics while optimizing it for tactician/honor mode, and as I've said even without items. Addendum: (almost) forever DM, dnd optimizer "and powergamer" focused on RP. Combat is just a hindrance to RP so the faster we finish it the sooner we can get to the RP. Honor mode is a great challenge in that regard for me😇❤

No doubt 16/16 is more impactful but personally I like the level 4ASI getting me a plus 1 to attack and DC, definitely not min max but feels like a nice jump.

@@gymleaderrob7192 so, start 16 dex 16 wis lv1 16ac (10+3dex+3wis), instead of lv1 15 ac (10+3dex+2wis) and take asi lv4 for 17ac (10+4dex+3wis) up from 16, compared to 17 ac from 15. Even numbers give a bonus, odd numbers don't.

Does the +1 AC from Defense fighting style really work when you are just wearing clothing? I was under the impression you just get the bonus when you wear at least light armor.
