A tip for drilling that many holes is to wrap some tape (several layers) around the drill bit at the desired depth that you want to drill. It takes the guess work out of it and speeds things up.

Is there a best time of year to do this? And is there a maximum number of plugs to add to one log?

Do they come by and spray for Mosquitoes once a week in a truck? Its common in some places here. I noticed that I had a issue with my garden in front. Do you think the chemicals can effect the plants? I have called the city about this and they told me its completely safe.

I have also wanted to try to grow them. Have you noticed any pests that like to munch on yours such as slugs? Thanks!
@TheUrbanHarvest11 ай бұрын
No. It’s such a short harvest time between pinning and harvest I haven’t had any trouble.

@TheUrbanHarvest11 ай бұрын
Yes you can! They fruit super quick so you can grow them especially during winter. Or inside.

Hey there, long time viewer. Please do not eat those mushrooms, this is a Gymnopilus species not Shitake growing in your log. They are a native to Florida species that love eating oak and likely showed up in your inoculated logs and won the battle against the Shitake. This Gymnopilus species are very likely to be mildly psychoactive and taste bitter. I am a mushroom expert and have been helping people identify mushrooms for over 15 years, please trust me. Refer to images of Gymnopilus aeuriginosus, Gymnopilus luteoviridis, etc.
