Yes. Low profile keyboards are way better. To bad they are often lacking the other good features. All this, because people are stupid and they know nothing about what is good for them, because ads says otherwise. Low keyboard is just faster to type and better for your hands. High keyboard has no benefit over low keys.
@SeraphX2
@SeraphX2 2 жыл бұрын
that statement doesn't make sense. there is no distinction between low profile and mechanical keyboards. they are not mutually exclusive. you should just be meaning that you moved to a standard switch/key cap setup. you can have mechanical keyboards that are low profile as well.

There are some switch variants for the g915 taktile are like brown switches, linear like the red and klicky like the blue Cherry mx switches. in my Country there are no klicky and no linear with my keyset, only the taktile. TKL is no option to me everyone has his individual needs. I think they will do one just because they need to. in two months i will make a new build get rid of my 6 Year old system then i'll get to my system a new screen and the g915

@Connor G They definitely know. I was a tester for this and it was pretty unanimous that everyone in the group wanted it. They're going down the path of making everyone buy this model now while waiting a year or more to have them buy another keyboard when the TKL arrives.

As a laptop keyboard user for pretty much all of my life, I found most keyboards to be WAY too tall for a comfortable typing experience. Until I found out about the Logitech G815. I picked it up in the clicky switch version on sale for $160 and man am I impressed. I get all the satisfyingly mechanical feel and sound without the wrist strain and pain. Plus, my typing speed and accuracy has improved exponentially since picking one up. It's also just so satisfying to use when gaming! The G915 looks cool but I'm using it for a desktop setup so it would just end up plugged in all the time anyway, and I also gain a USB passthrough for some added convenience. Logitech really did a great job with this one!

Easier to clean the desk as well since the keyboard is easily removed. Paired with a G502 wireless and the Logitech charging mouse pad.

Ergonomics, Ergonomics, Ergonomics. When I have a high performance gaming keyboard that HURTS to use after a while because my desk setup isn't perfectly made for me to hover over the board with all the correct posture, I will literally switch from my expensive gaming keyboard to a cheap LAPTOP keyboard just because it is more ergonomic and not tiring to type on. Even though the laptop keyboard is cheap rubber domes. So if you can combine both the ergonomics of low profile laptop stuff with gaming tactility/key rollover I would pay top dollar.

I feel you. My dream keyboard combine both worlds and have dedicated media keys, a tactile scroll wheel all in a 75% layout in a white & silver finish. One feature I also envision is a shrinked down version of the switches , something of the scale of the EEE PC but with more room in between the keys.

The best low profile keyboard existed and it was called Microsoft X6. Unmatched specs to this day: TKL but with modular numpad, lighting, media keys, dedicated macro keys, integrated wrist rest, dedicated hold button, dedicated macro record function, dedicated profile switch key, software with no problems, built like a tank (used mine for 10 years, run flawlessly). Sadly no company right now is willing to make a keyboard with actual features and usability. They only make keyboards with quirks so that you miss specs and buy their next one after a couple of years. Logitech dishes out a 250e keyboard with botched specs (no lighting on the second chars? who on earth would prefer not being able to see the symbols? does the designer actually use keyboards? might as well not print them at all next time maybe), exposed switches with keycaps that break at the slightest strain with no aftermarket support for them, software that is absolutely terrible, macros that do no work on onboard mode, etc...

Finally a reviewer who mentions the most important factor in choosing a low profile. Ergonomics. I have used 3 different mech keyboards in the past and while I liked them for the feedback and feel they provide while typing my wrist would start hurting and the movement would lock up. It would be made even worse if I was to raise the feet. I failed to find large sized semi soft keyboard rests. I am using microsoft surface and apple magic keyboard. Both give me absolutely no pain in the wrist even though I spend 8h a day using them. Lets hope one day we get a bluetooth TKL low profile keyboard with tactile feel and regular sized arrow keys.

after going through 5 or so different keyboards i settled with the G815 in white with the GL tactile. It's not perfect but I like the sound, the thickness and LP key caps. The RGB is much more versitile and vibrant on the logitec boards as well. My biggest complaint is the keycaps make a loose sound when shaking the keyboard giving a low quality impression but after a few months of using it, definetly satisfied specially since it was heavily discounted at best buy for $110 only wish is they would make a wireless version with the clicky switch config.

I've been looking for a low profile mechanical keyboard. The convenience problem I'm trying to solve is being able to rest my wrist lower to the table. With a normal mechanical keyboard, the optimal hand positioning is slightly raised, which can get tiresome. I like the satisfaction of mech keyboard, but they require a lot of attention than effort than a regular low profile keyboard.

Good review as always. HOWEVER, I don't agree with the idea that the "perfect" Low Profile keyboard does not exist. A more accurate statement would be that the "perfect" KEYBOARD does not exist. I recently purchased the Corsair K70 M.2 and the K70 M.2 Low Profile with it in mind that I would use them both on an ongoing basis. I paid roughly $140 for each of them. I Ended up liking the M.2 Low Profile with the Cherry Silver switches so much that I returned the regular K70 M.2 (although I really liked that one as well!). The M.2 switches are sensitive but it just takes some getting used to. and overall I REALLY appreciate how the keyboard feels to use for gaming and daily typing. It as perfect as perfect gets for me!

I've been using the Havit 395L for almost a year now. The 390L is great as well if you don't want a numpad. The frame is small, but sturdy. Kailh blue low profile switches are super fast. Amazing for typing. The aggressive clicky feel is great for those who like a tactile feedback. The keycaps are the perfect shape, not that flat bullshit like the coolermaster. The font is clean. I just wish maybe the coating on them was better? Or they were made of a softer material with some texture? Also you can get it on sale on Amazon for under $60 fairly regularly. I'd like to see them offer some other low profile switch options in the future. A low profile brown of sorts would be cool as hell.

I also have the Havit TKL. It's a pretty amazing keyboard for the price considering that it's only like $50. However it's still a $50 keyboard. As Seatux mentioned the keycaps leave a lot to be desired, but in this case because the Kailh low-profile switches don't use the MX mount you can't really find aftermarket caps for it either.
@calebatwood7659
@calebatwood7659 4 жыл бұрын
@@kevadu They aren't the BEST factory keycaps, no. But they are infinitely better than say, the flat chiclet style on the Coolermaster board that's 3 times the price. or most other "low profile keycaps" which are basically just flat... Like, you can make short keycaps AND have texture and shape to help with typing feel and detection. I feel like these caps could be improved upon in a materials aspect, but the shape and feel is generally pretty great.

I use the K70 Low Profile with MX Speed switches and absolutely love it. I'm coming from a Strafe RGB that I used for years and I feel like this is one of the best upgrades I have ever made to my set up. If it broke tomorrow I would be buying another one immediately. It's the most comfortable keyboard I have ever typed on, and I really believe that Corsair is killing the game with aesthetics on all of their peripherals. The only thing I kinda wish they were doing is the soft wrist rests that Razer is doing for all of their high end boards, but even that doesn't take away from this keyboard being perfect in my eyes.

slim profile is really nice since I move around often and use it for different devices in different environment. typing while lying down on the sofa with a pc attached to the tv, being outside with a cintiq drawing tablet, carrying it around in a bag etc. also, I like the flat keys. I'm used to playing on a laptop, I was able to slide my finger across the keys in order to press certain keys in quick succession with a single finger. this is crucial in many games in the forms of animation cancels and comboing. with a flat keyboard, gliding across feels like sliding on a bumpy surface. with those bulky keyboards, it feel like trying to do a glissando on a piano with every keys broken and stuck.

I have been using the Keychron K1 V3 for the past month and have been very satisfied. I think low profile keyboards are especially useful to people who spend a lot of time on their laptop keyboards and then switch back to a desktop setup like mine and want to work in clamshell mode. Having a mechanical keyboard that is more closely constructed to the laptop keyboards helps minimize the issues with constantly switching between a low profile butterfly keyboard and a clunky mech keyboard. Plus the low profile ones just look so much better on the desk than the big keyboard eyesore.

Less key travel distance simply equals faster key inputs. The "chiclet" style slim keys in some keyboards that have some space between them are crap though. Your fingers get stuck in between those spaces. Best are something like a laptop keyboard. I noticed how much faster I could press the keys and type.

Love my K70 low profile with speed switches. I didn't think anything would get me to stop using my K70 with speed switches, but the LP did it. I travel a lot and the use of laptops like my 2011 Alienware M14 (probably my favorite keyboard ever), or my 2018 Razer Blade 15 have made me used to the lower profile style keyboard. While I've recently given up my laptops keyboard for the Logitech MX Keys keyboard and matching Master 3 mouse (so I can easily x-fer files to my desktop when I get home), I think it's fair to say I prefer the lower profile keyboards in general. Unfortunately, working for the government removes my ability to use my own keyboard at work. However, I've been supplied with a Cherry keyboard at my desk, so it's not a tough daily transition. While I do miss my K70 with speed switches, the new LP option is quickly helping me forget about it. I understand that it's not for everyone, but for those that are looking for something like this there is really nothing else. I have purchased and returned a lot of keyboards to find the one that fits, and the K70 LP is tough to beat. The only gripe i have about it is the actuation force seems harder than my old K70. I know they say it's the same actuation force and an even lower actuation distance at 1.0mm vs 1.2mm, but they definitely feel heavier. I could sneeze near my old K70 and register some key presses. This one, IMO, takes a bit more deliberate force. Try out the K70 LP, really doubt you'll be disappointed.

I personally use a sharkoon pure writer rgb. A Full size, low profile (just about 20 mm high at the frontand 24 mm at the back) and relatively cheap (80 euro) keyboard with either kailh red or blue low-profile switches. I am not a power gamer, but use it mainly for typing and programming. I am using it for a few months now and could not be happier. Of course its not perfect, but especially at that prize, I think, this keyboard is just amazing. And its truely low profile with very slim switches and a very slim frame. And of course ... RGB

I care about low profile because after using regular cap mech keyboards for many hours my knuckles hurt slightly, while this does not happen on a laptop (Lenovo X1 Carbon). I want to combine what I like about mechanical keyboards with what I like about low profile chiclet keyboards, but sadly there doesn't seem to be a good compromise yet.

Once you've used a low profile keyboard for a while, you don't want to use anything else. The shorter key travel and the better wrist angle is a blessing if you're spending more than 1 hour on it every day...

Also I recommend you check out the keychron k1 and k3. Which are a TKL and a 75% keyboard low profile layout using custom optical low profile switches made by them. K3 is yet to ship and it would be really cool if you could do a video on that in the future (just a suggestion). Its the only other solid competitor to the logitech g915 TKL with wireless/wired keyboard with a low profile using mechanical switches. Have a nice day and thanks for all the cool informative videos! :)

Just bought the Corsair K70 RGB Low Profile Rapid Fire. Boxing day special, $90 off. This unit replaces my K68 RGB that I've had for years (Spilled coffee on it one to many times, I suppose). This is my first "low profile" keyboard. So far, there seems to be a little bit of a learning curve, at least for me. But overall, I am satisfied with my purchase. Only time will tell if that remains the case.

I use a low profile KB. The alienware with the cherry mx low profile keys. It's good. I'd prefer less total travel time though. Cherry has a speed version that lowers the actuation point a little more, but not the total travel time with it; unfortunately. And I am not sure that I want the clicky feedback nature of their ultra low profile keyboard. For now, anyway, the low profile reds are enough to save me from a lot of carpal tunnel while gaming.

I have the famous Logitech G710+ mechanical gaming keyboard (had it in about 3-4 years now), but I have never actually tried doing real work on it for hours and hours. Not many times at least. I mean, its a gaming keyboard after all. I started on a coding study in about 1 and a half year ago now, so I have been using my MacBook Pro 13 Mid 2012 a lot. And I love and prefer to use macOS for coding and productivity, but I couldn't understand why I was hating my Windows desktop so much for doing much of the same productivity and coding work as I have been using Windows for many many years too. I prefer macOS, but I can live with using Windows 10 sometimes too. It's nice to switch things up a bit u know. So it seems like I have switched over full time to preferring a low profile keyboard now after using the "Magic Keyboard" on my MacBook keyboard. And the way I write on my keyboard really suits a low profile keyboard too. So that's a bummer for me, if I want to switch up the productivity a bit (instead of buying a new waaay more expensive MacBook) since my Windows desktop is way more powerful and have a bigger monitor, I just can't stand my old bulky Mechanical keyboard anymore for writing... So Logitecs offering on the "Logitech G915 Lightspeed" looks really good, but DAMMMN, that price doe xD (That being said, I got my Logitech G710+ for free because I won a gift card doe, hehe...)

The winner is the G19 vs K70. I purchased both of them. It's easier and almost flawless to type on the G19, its lower and quieter too. What I hate about the G19 is it only lights up first default characters on keys. The secondary don't light up since it's more for gamers and not writers/programmers. What a stupid decission by Logitech. As for the Corsair, it's leds are brighter and way better quality but what I hated was it felt bulky and it was taller and harder to type.

I have preferred chiclet keyboards for years. I tried mechanical keyboards once they rose in popularity, and I found they slowed down my typing and drastically increased my typos. However, I haven't been able to find any manufacturers out there making chicklet keyboards that are high quality, or are made with premium materials. They all seem to think we want chiclet keys, with the cheapest softest plastic available. I'd love to see chiclet keys given the same amount of craftsmanship that mechanical keyboards have, with things like metal bodies or artistic designs.

Thx for the great video. Would've spared me some time a few weeks ago while I was looking for a good low-profile mechanical keyboard. I tested the Cooler Master KS650, Corsair K70, Tesoro Gram XS, Roccat Vulcan 121 and Sharkoon PureWriter. Sadly none of the keyboards could convince me entirely and after trying out some more regular profile mechanical keyboards and ended up buying a wireless Surface Keyboard. It's not mechanical but very comfortable coming from an older Apple wired keyboard due to the fact that the footprint of both keyboards is more or less identical. I was curious though to test the Logitech G915 but at that pricepoint I wasn't even remotely willing to pay that much for a keyboard.

I want to note that the Corsair K70 MK2 low profile (rapidfire or not) is normally 259.99, the price you have of $139 was only a black friday special, which is when I got mine and its great. Now I am in Ontario and it sounds like your in Quebec, but I cant imagine one province over it would be that much cheaper, these are Canadian Dollar (CAD) prices. Also I just looked up the Logitech 915 and its $299 - $329. Which is absolutely rediculous lol I would hope these romer G are better than the normal mushy Logitech gaming keybs

I guess the reasoning of low profile switch keyboards in my opinion is to perhaps mimic the look and size of compact membrane keyboards.. a lot of people don’t like mechanical keyboards cause they think it’s too bulky.. I use the Logitech G815 (wired version of the G915), with clicky switches and I find it a lovely experience to type on. I find myself being highly productive with it while working at home since those G-keys improve my workflow; but I just don't like gaming on it, which is weird considering it's marketed towards gamers. Overall a nice experience and I hope it sets a benchmark for other peripheral makers to try making good low-profile designs.

Was really looking for a low profile mechanical keyboard for a long time. I have had my share of big bulky keyboards that scream "look at me, I'm a gamer". Low profile is just... more subtle, to me. Roccat Vulcan was on the list but damn, I'm still rocking a Logitech G9 Laser mouse, bought in 2007. This kind of product longevity speaks for the brand. That's why I settled for the g915.

2:14 I cannot relate in the slightest. The fact they're so flat makes this keyboard the one I'd pick out of all these. The fact each keycap is very separate and tries to grab my finger when I touch it makes it impossible to have a good flow when writing stuff, which is why I'd pick any classic membrane laptop keyboard over fancy mechanical gaming ones.

@@CrowDazzle Sorry for the delay, lol. Here are some negatives after using this for a while. I will say the software sucks, like really bad. The lights and colors are also not very good. I think they really skimped here. The lighting doesn't fully light up the keys and its pretty noticeable. The texture of the keys isn't totally my favorite either because its basically a painted on material. Just feels different than actual plastic and apparently rubs off over time, although I have not seen any rubbing yet. The keyboard base just looks very cheap. It is metal but might as well be plastic, because it has no texture or shine to it. Just doesn't look premium. Even the Num Lock/Caps Lock lights are just little dots. Also, the keys are a little too wobbly. Maybe that's picky but overall I would just say the keyboard has a very cheap feel and look to it. I kinda wish I just splurged and got the Logitech g815. However, I do really like how slim, lightweight, and quiet it is. I really do love these switches. And if you are really limited to price then I would say this is a good knockoff.
My thoughts on the G915 Keyboard, 18 months later...
