Keyboard snobs: "For the same price, you can build a better one yourself." Me: "Sweet. I'm an engineer and I got mad soldering skillz. Where can I buy a kit?" Snobs: "Oh, well, you see, everything is always sold out forever. You're supposed to get on a bunch of lists, wait months for group buys and special projects, and buy like five keyboards' worth of parts before you mix and match all the features you want." Me: "And you say this is cheaper..." Snobs: "Oh, absolutely. By the time it's actually done, you'll completely forget about all the money you spent, ergo it's cheaper."

I partly agree, but most people don't use the argument that it's cheaper but that you get something of much much much higher quality that you can customize specifically for what you want, visually, material and feel wise. Besides when you understand how the enthusiast keyboard part manufacturers make money its understandable why it runs like it does.

Kelvin Halim if you have a budget of around $100, Maxkey makes great SA profile sets that make your keyboards sound a lot bassier and also louder. If your budget is even higher and you're willing to wait for new releases and restocks, GMK is considered the absolute king of keycaps.

@@tomriddle2257 dumbass wpm stands for words per minute. I hope you know that a minute is about 60 seconds, following this logic, 50wpm is about 0,83 keypresses per second. Your 3/5 presses would be 120-300 wpm which is litterally way above the speed of the fastest typist of the world.

tl;dr the FCC part 15 warning just means that if there's interference you can't go complaining to them, anyone can use the frequency, that's why they set it aside for public use Sooo, just for clarity, because its pretty obvious Jay doesn't know what FCC part 15 really means, the 2.4 GHz band is an unlicensed part of the radio frequency spectrum in the US. Which also means that you don't get exclusive use of that frequency, anyone can use it for free. That's why most devices operate at that frequency. On the other hand things like 2.3 GHz and 2.5 GHz are frequencies that are allocated to licensed users. Only the licensed users are allowed to use it. If someone unlicensed is using one of those licensed frequencies bad things can happen. As an example that means anyone can build a device (like a mouse, keyboard, or headset) that uses 2.4 GHz signals to operate (more or less). That also means that lot's of other devices are going to be using that same frequency. Those other devices could cause interference to whatever you built (like a mouse, keyboard, or headset). What the poorly worded part 15 thing is saying is that you can't go complaining to the FCC that other devices are causing interference. They have just as much right to use it as you do. On the other hand let's say you built a device that ran at 2.1 GHz. if you're someone like TMobile and those devices are causing interference, TMobile can go to the FCC and have you fined and get those devices confiscated. Because TMobile is a licensee of that frequency so they have exclusive rights to that frequency.

I've been contesting the G815 lately, and I'm curious if the G915, being wireless, has the same on board memory issues the G815 has. Assigned profiles have limited functionality for on-board profiles, to the point that it seems like false marketing to even say that on-board memory is a feature. Would be good to hear if the G915 faces these similar issues, and if they both use the same hardware for on-board memory.

@@guidomonto3742 Umm... you know "pro" is just a marketing thing. Most products marketed as "pro" are not actually pro. Furthermore, most real pro monitor stands are probably on the last page on Amazon due to the price tag and the low amount of pro users. Take the "Macbook pro" for example. It's labeled as "pro," but most models are not pro at all. Remember Radeon Pro graphics? (ex. Radeon Pro 555, Radeon Pro 560X, etc) They are in fact, not pro at all! (They're actually really trashy for a discrete graphics card.)

@@Gingenuity well, I don't think Apple is directed towards consumers. I'm not an Apple fanboy (in fact I prefer PC's over iMacs by a large margin) but a lot of Apple's stuff is directed towards prosumers/professionals/stuff like that. Take their 5k XDR monitor, for example. It's very very expensive, and thus many people consider it very overpriced, but the thing is, it's not directed towards normal consumers, as it has a lot of features that only professionals will appreciate, such as the extremely high sustained brightness and XDR feature. That's why according to most tech experts, that monitor is actually an insane bargain because it is actually the cheapest XDR monitor on the market and all the other features that it contains make it comparable to other 10k+ monitors. (Yeah, I didn't even know these existed.)
@ryanwangpiano
@ryanwangpiano 3 жыл бұрын
@@Gingenuity Furthermore, saying you spent 2 minutes "researching" stuff and then immediately jumping to conclusions about companies is a disgrace to all the real tech experts people who spent months, maybe even years researching things. YOU would be a fool to think that you can understand companies' business models in 2 minutes. And I can immediately see that your research is misleading and inaccurate. Spending more than 200 bucks on Apple makes you a fool? So spending 199.99 buying overpriced AirPod pros when you could buy similar products for less than 50 bucks is a "great decision?" On the contrary, did you also know that the LG Ultrafine, the monitor that Apple uses for their 27'' iMacs, costs 1200 bucks? Thus the $1800 entry-level 27'' iMac "actually" costs (excluding the monitor) 600? Go build me a PC with a 6 core unlocked i5 and an RX 580 (a GPU that's similar in performance to a 5300) for 600 bucks. I know right? Literally impossible. So please, stop fooling yourself. I'm sick of Logitech keyboards. My G910 was pretty good for a couple of years and then the left CTRL key broke off. The keycap was mostly fine, but only the tiny brittle plastic legs broke off and got stuck in the switch. I glued it on for a couple of months and now it broke off again last week. Won't go on anymore and I can't even find a replacement keycap. Only this specific key is sold out everywhere. I'm sure the reason is obvious. Over the years I had so many different Logitech products and they all had such a planned obsolescence problem. I'm sick and tired of their mice having a double click problem after 2 years for example.

I was able to get the tkl version for around 160 including tax, pretty nice deal. Had it for 3 month now and I got the clicky. Definitely happy with it but also definitely not perfect. I have serious ocd and I hate wires. My desk has a total visible wires less than 5 inches. The performance is solid never had an issue that I can remember of. But yeah that keycaps sucks. Wanted to swap out for some puddings but nothing on the market can fit these switches

When prefering a full-size keyboard is more original than prefering a TKL or 60%. The hipster effect. XD

just got this keyboard and i love it. coming from an off-brand mechanical keyboard with green switches, the g915 is miles ahead in terms of build quality and i'm pleasantly surprised at the quality of logitech's switches. the short key travel is great too.

The biggest issue with this keyboard in my opinion is after use for a year+ you'll start to notice ware and tare on the keycaps they become 'polished' It's very noticeable and I can say now, although a fantastic keyboard and very comfortable to type on; it's a shame that Logitech decided to use a matte finish on the keycaps which are prone to ware. left hand keys are worn and the right hand keys are mostly pristine.; so it gives a terrible look due to this. Be prepared to spend an extra $50 on replacement keycaps, if the 'greasey' polished look is off putting.

world record holder is at 360 wpm... 100 is not average, it's top 5% world. 120 becomes top 2%. I personally do 133 on my fastest with an average of 90 using my laptop the predator helios 300, and I've always been looking for a keyboard with small travel distance but still get a clicky sound to build a desktop soon since I'm almost done with college and won't need a laptop anymore. I'll still keep the helios in case I get a gf, it's capable of quite something.

I have the G513 at $189 linear and it's worth every penny, as a gamer, but would be happy with a single color scheme without all the fancy wavy patterns and stuff. I do like the ability to colorize each and every key a different color. Makes finding a particular key or set of keys very easy, in the dark and I like a low lit room. Godspeed!

I have the wired version, the switches are super light to smack and its not a bad keyboard however I don't like the lack of a location bump on the S key like my other keyboards and if you usually use a non logi board you'll have to get used to all the keys being kinda slid over by a few keys.

The key switches are actually re branded Kailh Choc switches so if you really want to make sure you buy the right keyboard before dropping that much money I suggest buying a little assorted pack to get an idea of which ones you like best. That's what I did and it made the decision a lot easier, kinda.

I’ve bought all 3 back in November to test the switches myself before committing to this keyboard and landed on Clicky just like @JayzTwoCents. Linear and Tacticle just felt too mushy even for a low-profile keyboard. Yes, the Clicky is loud so if you don’t have a dedicated room where you use this keyboard it will annoy everyone around you. Overall it’s a great keyboard and I’ve had no connectivity problems with it whatsoever. Only annoying thing to me is that you can’t change the colors of the M1/M2/M3 buttons at the top or even turn them off. They’re always yellow. Wish they made a TKL version of it - I would buy one immediately.

I have been a Logitech Keyboard user for a long time. Loved the G15, moved to the G910. looked at the G915 and G815 but did not like the fact that the secondary symbols on the keys are no longer lit. when you are typing in lower light and not as sure of the keys. as I am. makes it harder to use. which is why I did not go with a new G915, and searched for more G910's to get a few before they are no longer sold.
