Its funny to me, everyone else struggles the most with magnamalo and some with rajang... meanwhile me struggling with aknosom😢 my offensive guard playstyle struggles to compute its really weird attack timings for perfect guard and i dont have other water weapons. Meanwhile magnamalo and rajang just make sense to me.

As a Dual Blade user, I keep getting hit by Magnamalo's roar+explosion since I'm always at point blank range. The explosion happens so quickly after the roar stun that I often get hit even though I start trying to spam backwards dodge to get out of there as soon as the stun ends. Plus, the roar doesn't really have a 'tell' that I can watch for to get out of there beforehand. Just curious, do you have any tips for timing the dodge for this attack? I've been hit by it so many times I'm starting to wonder if I need to add earplugs to my build.

You have a split a second after being stunned from the roar to dodge. Like you mentioned though, there is no real tell outside of it roaring around the 47 second mark so I'll stay back till it transforms around that time if I'm using melee.

Just stay back and only focus on the arm blades once you get a break on one hurry up and swap over to the other one to keep breaking parts to keep him stunned I also only fight them with a special or almost a full special so I can just dmg special and dmg and and the fight is over and I still get hit sometimes

I use SNS and I found that it's almost impossible to avoid getting hit even if you spam backwards dodge as soon as the stuns ends. Instead I guard immediately after the stuns end that seems to do the trick to prevent me getting hit with the explosion and also getting hellfire. It also sets me up nicely for a guard counter. I assume the other melee that can guard also does the same.

Fun fact: Attack number 6, the hellfire bite is actually a grab. The first grab attack in MHNow. I got hit by it and got sent super high into the air, like higher than even diabloses can launch you up to, then I forgot what Magnamalo does but you can’t get out of it and it ends with the Hunter exploding.

Man, Magnamalo does NOT feel like a base 4-star monster - even 8-Star still gives me a little trouble with my maxed out Mizutsune Long Sword, and I've yet to solo a 9-Star one. The lack of Wirebugs and other Rise-exclusive mechanics, plus the fact that it zooms and jumps all over the place once it becomes enraged, all really ups the fart tiger's difficulty with the 75 second timer to deal with. Probably the most annoying attacks to deal with are the Hellfire Bite and then when it becomes enraged. On the flipside, both flavors of Hellfire Rain seem to be easy to dodge for melee just by staying right up against Magna. Maybe I should go back and play Rise again to practice.

Do I need him to go super saiyan before breaking his front arms for arm blades ? Rarity 4 never seems to drop

You dont have to. Its just a chance sadly and its still pretty low even if you do break them.

Didn't know Thunder deal damage as well, only shown Water (weakness) in game UI. @.@

Right? Well it only says it in the useful info. But it’s only for parts with hellfire on them so it’s not really worth it unless your lazy like me and don’t want to switch out just for that 😅

TLDR how to dodge: roll right or left or back once or twice until you are out of attack range. how to dodge hard attacks: dodge when its about to hit you or just get ready to pot 👏👏👏

Honestly…I’m fairly certain that Magnamalo is a base 4* monster only so we can’t max out its weapons quickly…not because there’s no challenge!😅 That 9* one at the end of that (otherwise awesome) HAT is no joke!😬

I find that quickwork lvl 2 with longsword makes this very easy. How to dodge? Iai slash!!! 3 hit combo, 2 iai slash. 2 hit? 1 iai slash 😂
