My mind has been blown by this video. I looooove maple syrup, but the proper stuff that isn't watered down in the UK is so expensive compared to alternatives such as honey and golden syrup, but listening to the whole process, you can understand why. Your guide was so good, reminds me once again of how great your customer service is out there. Not only was he remembering names of everyone on the tour, but facts like your composting loo!!! Awesome that you're off to Burlington. I only ever saw the mall as it's where we took the campers whose parents couldn't get to camp to visit them on parents visiting weekend so it still felt like they were going on a fun adventure! Will be nice to see what was outside of it!
@AdventuresofAplusK3 жыл бұрын
Yay! So happy you enjoyed this one! It's definitely A LOT of work to make maple syrup, which is why it is so pricey. We have definitely mostly purchased the cheap fake stuff before to save money, but now we want to support those who work hard to make the real stuff! Jacob was truly the best, he took the time to learn about everyone and reference things about us, which made the experience so personal. Burlington was amazing, we can't wait to share it. It's definitely the kind of city (its size, outdoor focus, and overall vibe) that we could see ourselves living in someday, although Vermont is too cold in the winter for us haha!

Great video! A local park has Sugar Maple Days every year where they make small batches by cooking sap in an iron pot over a wood fire, so I knew much of this, but it was neat to see more modern techniques and the beautiful Vermont landscape. Those creemees look delicious.

I grew up eating the massed produced syrup from the supermarket and had no idea how delicious the stuff fresh from the source was. We picked up some in Wisconsin and it didn't last long lol. I'd be in heaven trying all the different kinds! People are SUPER serious about their giant pumpkins! There was a new state record at the WV Pumpkin Festival this year, 2,194 pounds... literally bigger than a Smart Car. I've always wanted to attend one of those pumpkin chunkin events where they launch them with a trebuchet.

I hope you guys get to experience some beautiful fall color while you're there!!! So glad you're going to be staying in New England for a while because if they're anything like us here in Michigan the fall color is a few weeks behind where it is normally. Dennis's family has been making maple syrup for generations as well so our sons grew up getting to tap the trees and collect sap every spring. And they love drinking maple syrup and eating maple sugar candy as well. I didn't grow up using real syrup so I can't handle that much super with eating it plain like that but it sure is delicious on pancakes. Enjoy!!!
@AdventuresofAplusK3 жыл бұрын
We’ve been out here for about a month now and finally got to see some colors, they definitely were more delayed than we thought they would be! How cool that they make maple syrup! We would love to get to experience a sugaring season someday!
@TakeATripTogether3 жыл бұрын
@@AdventuresofAplusK If you do participate in maple syrup making try to find a smaller operation that still uses the individual spiles and buckets on trees rather than the tubing so you can get the authentic experience! Yeah, we're planning to drive up into Northern Michigan tomorrow to try to see some color ourselves. The trees are just barely starting to turn where we live and that's not typically the case for mid-October. I hope we get to enjoy some color before it snows because it's hard on the trees when it snows before they have dropped their leaves. Safe travels!

This was awesome; the drone footage was beautiful. Y'all will have to come back to New England when the fall foliage is not so late & more vibrant. Something about the long lasting warm weather has messed it up a bit. When we were in Stowe VT, we had horrible weather for a couple of days - so, we went factory touring - Cabot Cheese, Ben & Jerry's Ice-cream, a Maple Syrup Farm & an Apple Cider Factory. Was so fun - even our teenage daughter had a good time! Excited to see what else you have to share with us from New England!!

We definitely were too early in Vermont, but almost caught peak foliage in New Hampshire which was amazing! It did rain a LOT when we first got to NH (probably around the time you were in Stowe). We probably went to the same apple cider spot as y'all!

My Father is French Canadian and maple syrup was just part of life. They would have sugar parties where they would pour the syrup onto the snow and everyone would dig in with their fork to eat the taffy like candy it made! It’s rather funny since I grew up eating nothing but real maple syrup when friends would have me over for pancakes, I would ask what that stuff was in the bottle? It’s maple syrup they would try to tell me… once you have the real thing, there’s not turning back.

We definitely want to someday! It's super high on the list of cities we want to visit, but unfortunately not likely this time out east.

I just gotta know, do you guys work 40 hours a week then do all this after work or are you able to work when you want with your full time jobs? Thanks.

We are now fully self employed, but we still work 60ish hours a week in addition to filming these videos. When I had my corporate job I worked 40 hours a week on that and 40+ hours a week on this. We share the progression of our jobs here: adventuresofaplusk.com/blog/travel-budgeting/
