I was the private who had his rifle secured who punched the Drill Sergeant for trying to take it during the last FTX. My ears were ringing from the multiple simulated mortars that got tossed at me. But I didn't lose my rifle. Because my battle buddy was an idiot who fell asleep. Yes I managed to not get the ass kicking I was expecting. No I do not advise punching your Drill Sergeant. I did as a matter of reflex to defend myself and my rifle while he was in the role of an enemy trying to steal my rifle. Any other time = ass kicking.

16 years. 16 years in the Army and I had one SGM call zonk on morning PT. And all of the 1SGs thought it was an April fool's prank so we all had PT anyway. Then when he found we had PT anyway despite the zonk, he made our command group do weekend PT with him and the Bn CO as "professional development". Also, meat gazers is the correct term. I've used it for decades. I'd also have accepted pecker checkers or whiz quizzers.

7:15 yep that was me....... I sent a letter to my son while he was in basic training, Army at Fort Benning (beautiful place).... I had put some "go army" stickers on the envelope, and needless to say his drill was not ok with it..... My son said he got a lecture about how he could be article 15 right out of there and then DS made him do 100 push ups..... I of course found this out the next letter that he sent home.... I was mortified, and extremely apologetic. And apologized to that drill at the graduation......

7:10 my Dad did 20 years in the Navy and my parents sent me cookies at BMT twice, the first one had a note that said nothing except "Hope you're having a good time at camp." in big letters that took up a whole sheet of paper. Standard proceedure for packages was we had to open them in front of the MTIs so they could make sure there was no contraband. My MTI made me read the note out loud then looked me dead in the eye and said "Where the hell does your mom think you are right now? Does she know you joined the military?" I then had to grab a wingman and march down to the dumpster and throw out the home made cookies my mom sent me. 2 Weeks later the second box of cookies showed up at mail call.
