(Went on a little rant, imo last paragraph is the most important so skip to that) Well thats simply because it doesnt work like that. I can understand the ideea behind this and honestly without much thought it might seem like a good ideea, but you have to understand this, for example in gold everyone is wiffing left and right, own goaling, bumping their teammate, their problem isnt that they cant half flip ,wave dash, etc. its that they more often then not cant hit the ball, so good settings are usually more then enough untill they become more consistent at just touching the ball to get out of gold. Now personally i wouldve said to add power shots in gold as well, but just good settings are more then enough. Now the reason why you shouldnt start to practice the mechanics of the rank you arent yet is simply because more often then not, you havent mastered the previous mechanics to get out of that rank, and trying to learn 1.something that will not help you rank up and 2.trying to learn too much at once; is only going to be detrimental to your improvement. For example , why try to pre-learn how to use directional air roll or ceiling shots when you are in d3 and people still cant properly shadow defense? On top of that you have to consider that there is an adjusting period where a player who has learned a new skill will often try to force a reason to use said skill, leading to bad decisions. And untill your brain learns when and how to effectivelly utilise said skill, you will either rank down a little or stagnate for a little bit. Another reason is lack of controll, when you reach a certain rank requirement it will always be easier to learn. Last but not least this are all skills that will get you to RANK UP. So for example mastering all the skills in diamond means you will be now play at low to maybe mid champion rank if your really proficient at them, and if your happy with that, there is no reason to learn directional air roll because you dont want to reach Gc yet.

Yeah, I'm a diamond who can flip reset, but it certainly isn't necessary. I learned it not because it would help me rank up, but because its a lot of fun. There are a lot of mechs you don't need, that are still fun to learn.

You’d probably be worse if you didn’t have mechanics either, so I don’t think it’s true that they don’t help you rank up. I also believe if you get better control of your car and what it’s capable of doing early on, you’ll get a better idea of which plays were a decisional mistake because they were outside of the possibility of what the car can possibly perform, so you’re not left wondering if you failed because of the idea or the execution, thus gaining game sense more quickly

Redirects aren't that bad. It's the same mechanic as defending the net from aerials where you're directing it to your teammate or the corner. I also play in comms with a GC friend, so I know I can trust him and he wants me to push forward when he gets possession. Redirects have been very powerful while duoing with him, otherwise we lose valuable pressure. Most people aren't playing with a GC though. Still, a double tap still takes similar ball reading technique as a redirect. You're literally practicing how to aim the ball directly where you want it to go from any odd angle. I think the problem isn't the mechanic. It's the usage. Stop cherrypicking in the middle of the field and forcing your teammate to 1v2. If you're breaking any fundamental rule, you're not using the mechanic right. You can say any mechanic at all is bad if it's used improperly. Half-flip? You're half-flipping away from a possible shot. Wave dash? You're wave dashing away from your net. Dribble? You're setting the ball for your opponent to smack off of you. Aerial? You stole the shot from a teammate with a better angle. Flip reset? You spent 2k hours practicing how to flip reset the ball directly into your opponent's possession. No mechanic is good if you're breaking the fundamentals while doing it.

No offense bro, but the mechs that you put for gold has not helped whatsoever. I already am good in gold but a TON of ppl in gold are already doing aerials and speed flipping. I had to start learning the speed flip bc other players are always beating Me to the ball. And I went to plat one time, and players were already fast aerialing and have really good air control. Need more to help with getting out of gold
