Hey love all your videos! You gave a unique style to your videos that’s is very refreshing. Quick note, I’m always perplexed about Tacoma owners calling stock width mid-travel. I had a Raptor with king shocks, SVC UCA’s, Deaver leaf springs, and SVC bumps and that truck was considered having SVC’s “performance pack” but being stock travel. This setup would be considered mid-travel for a Tacoma owner. I now have a SVC mid-travel Raptor that has extended length UCA’s and LCA’s with 17 inches of travel and 18 inches of travel in the rear. This is considered mid-travel because I’m still using the stock front shock buckets. However, in the world of Tacoma’s this would be considered long travel. I have no idea why the different off-roading communities define these differently….but it always confuses me. Lol.

Tbh it’s just more of a marketing thing for me. I’m in the same boat as you where idk what the true definition of mid and long travel is. And that’s not due to pure ignorance, more so than (like you said) many people using the terms for different levels of built and not finding a straight answer. I’ve heard guys say all the 3.5”-4” wider bolt on LT kits that all the company’s sell aren’t even LT and are mid travel. And that’s true LT is a fabricated front end kinda kit like a center mount truck. So IDK man haha I personally consider anything beyond OEM replacements mid travel up until you’re hitting that 3.5”-4” which would be long travel in my books. Then anything above that I call it by its specific name (j-arm, beamed, etc)

That's a badass build! I have a 1st gen with a light mid travel kit right now, I'm looking to do some upgrading, I absolutely love the sleeper style build! And I kind of want to do the same! I just would like to color match the fenders and bedsides to make it look cleaner, and add in that rear shock relocation kit and replace my current setup with either king or Fox smooth body remotes, and some better coilovers in the front, maybe upgrade the brakes, etc. that's a little bit aways though, the mid travel setup I have now does the truck pretty well! Great video man love to see it!

Builds tuff. Would like to see the 2wd vs 4wd on some trails again with the updated rig
@desertdime9 ай бұрын
Ohh man I’m hesitant to keep making those 😂 trails are so much more rough on the exterior compared to the desert. All 4 wheels are rashed and gashed, the stock rear bumper got twisted, the doors have gnarly scratches. I know off-roading ain’t pretty but if I’m gonna mess it up I rather do it going fast haha

How do you bring the rear tires wider to match the width of the front tires?
@desertdime5 ай бұрын
It’s not an exact match (the rear is a bit wider than the front) but wheel spacers are needed for my shock relocation kit in the rear

Have you ever thought about trying Bilstiens 8112 coilovers in the front with built in bump stops and jounce cut off

No thoughts on switching brand. Although I have tossed the idea around of switching to a 3.0 or maybe even an IBP from king

Are you going to keep the silver or repaint the whole truck?

Either stick with silver for the glass or wrap the entire truck

Do you have the front suspension limit strapped?

Wanted to but after some poking around there’s really no good spot to set up straps on a stick lower set up unfortunately

Would you still need spacers to clear the shocks if you have more negative offset? I’m thinking about sending it on some 0mm methods but but not sure if I could get away with -12 or -10 and no spacers
@ryan_rupeАй бұрын
Also do you think I should try to fit 14” in the rear or go with 12”?
@desertdimeАй бұрын
The shock relocation product page used to tell you the size spacer you’d need for the wheel specs you’re running in the description so I’d check there. If not then just reach out to Archive! They’re pretty good at responding. And the shock size is up to your use and preference. If you’re gonna be sending it more and wanna squeeze every inch of travel you can then go the 14. If you’re not going to be sending it that often or that hard then the 12 should be fine.

@ thank you bro! Love how the truck has been coming along!

Ext travel is only 1/4” more travel than regular shocks. King removes a 1/4” washer/spacer inside the shock.

I feel robbed 😮💨😂
@cameroneshleman4833Ай бұрын
That doesn't account for the geometry of the control arm though. Even if it's "only" a 1/4" more travel at the SHOCK, doesn't mean it's only a 1/4" at the end of the control arm. It actually doubles because of the mount location, so it's really a half inch.

What travel numbers do you have in the front ?

Haven’t had the opportunity to cycle everything. Hopefully once the truck is all buttoned up and there’s not as much on my list then I can mess around with that.

The customer service was not customer servicing 😂long story short it resulted in me physically driving down to their shipping warehouse to get some answers. Apparently it’s a whole different building location and department than the customer service but they were super shill answered my questions and pulled product to show me the confusion that was going on.
