Just for your information Greeno, yolks on eggs should be a pale yellow, the reason they are orange is due to colouring. The paler the yolk the fresher the egg!! I NEVER eat orange yolked eggs!! My Dad had 50 chickens, if the yolks went dark he threw them to the pigs! 😋😋🤗🤗

Our chicken eggs are orange straight out of the bird and are great. And fresh egg-yokes stand up - they flatten out as they get older - compare to supermarket eggs.

I love Gloucester services. Such a unique and different service station. The farm shop is great and locals use it as their local corner shop for their shopping. The kitchen has lovely decor/environment. The menu is good, food delicious and local high quality ingredients. Even outside is nice and there is somewhere to walk your dog too. 11/10 service station

It’s certainly a step up from your standard Welcome Break isn’t it! Do the locals really use it as a regular shop? I guess they must, cos there is a butchery counter etc. That’s not much use to you if you’re just driving somewhere!

That looks so tasty. Lovely place to stop for breakfast. The egg is very well cooked. Just had 93% pork sausages and new potatoes and greens but I'm craving the bacon on that dish now. Bubble and squeak! Forgotten all about that. Must make some soon! Very nice. 👍

I would have preferred a little more bubble on this dish, but it was a nice change to get even that little bit. I really liked that egg, perfect for me. I think these services are owned by the same folk as Tebay Services further north on the M6, really pleasant for a stop to break up a long drive.

I`ve been to this place a few times and it is spotless. I had a sausage roll there once and it was a meal in itself. Okay, it`s not cheap but I don`t mind paying for quality.

Motorway service stations have improved by the looks of it since the dire offering of the 60s 70s and 80s There's one north bound on M6 on the way to Lakes which has won awards. Have a great time in the North wherever you are are.

Just a few suggestions. Breakfast - Molly's Cafe and The Loaf - both Llandudno. Chippies - Chish and Fips, Craig-y-Don and Frydays, Penrhyn Bay. Chinese (eat in) - Wu's, Craig- y Don. Sunday roast - Someplace Else, Craig-y-Don. Italian - Carlo's, Craig-y-Don. Portuguese - Virgilio's, Colwyn Bay. Steak House - Upstairs At the Grill, Chester (expensive but great steaks). Hope you manage to get up this way.

Loved the review!! :) And you brought up some good memories from a few years back, Was on holiday in the UK, as I remember stopping at this location for an early supper. Was impressed by it, as you've already said, it's not the same run of the mill service station. Alas had forgotten it's name, but when I saw the thumbnail of your post, I immediately recognised it. If I'm ever back in the area, will definitely have pit stop there again.

Just one more that sprang to mind - Siam Thai and Tepan-Yaki, Chester. Thai Upstairs and Japanese downstairs. Only eaten in the Japanese but chefs cook on a hot plate in the centre of a large u-shaped table. Good food and they put on a great cookery show.

Yeah, I would have preferred a proper slab of bubble, with that real crispy crust. But it was nice to have the main fry up ingredients presented in a different and lighter way. As for Rownhams, well that really is the pits isn’t it, can’t think of a worse services anywhere on the motorway network!

I would never claim to be an expert in anything. But due to me toing and froing between Dublin and London; Dublin being my home, I do a lot of driving. So, this place was beyond belief, I know it was not perfect and without fault, by my god, it was good. Having said all that, that is comparing UK with Eire. However, if you come over to the the Emerald Isle then be prepared for our Irish delight! which includes everything but will be Irish sourced, as well as White pudding as well as Soda Bread included. Do not expect the non-descript bean concoction, because that is not what us Irish call Eejit nonsense.

I found this place by accident and now visit whenever I can, even though it's a 2hr journey. There's one on both sides of the motorway and everything sold in the place has been sourced solely from the local area, and monies are fed back into the communities surrounding it. The family that owns it also owns the Teebay service station, on the way to Scotland, it's been on the telly. I think you can tell I love this place.

It was a little less than a full English, but certainly filling enough and probably a little healthier. I did wonder if I might get 2 sausages for my £1.50, but no. It was a very tasty butchers sausage though. Didn’t get as far as Scotland 🙂

@@GreenoEats Greeno if you are still in the Loire and haven't been there yet. Amboise has a superb chateau and Leonardo de Vinci museum. Blois is defo worth a visit. Amusing story Mayor of Blois in the 80s was Jack Lang. He was also Culture Minister. With local elections looming, Lang wanted a vote winner. So, he found funds for a Museum of Magic🤦🏻‍♂️ Apparently worth a visit.
