One of the things that got me about Black Christmas was when I looked it up on IMDB after I watched the film. One of the pieces of trivia was that a lot of people mistook the film's poster (at a brief glance) for Santa sitting in a rocking chair by a fire, until they watched the film and on seeing the poster again realised it was actually the first victim. I then double checked the film's poster, myself and realised that I to experienced that effect.

I love the fact that you included The Gate on this list, since your review of that was the very first of your videos I watched. My wife had seen the trailer for Jumanji The Next Level and she said, "Why would you want to go BACK into the game that tried to kill you?" and I replied, "I don't know, why would you want to go back to the place where you opened a portal to Hell and were nearly a human sacrifice, like The Gate 2?" Turns out, she'd never seen The Gate, and thanks to a quick KZbin search, I found your review, which was probably the next best thing to watching the actual movie! Been a subscriber ever since!

I find it very interesting you mention the classic style of horror movies during the Black Christmas portion. I was too young to watch that one (I was 4 when it came out), and grew up with those classics that I still love to this day more than movies like it. Yeah, they aren't as scary and feel 'safe' compared to what came after, but I really love that classic atmosphere and miss actors like Vincent Price, Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee, and so on. I also grew up with the original Scooby Doo shows and that's part of why I like a softer touch to my horror I think. I love me some spooky castles, haunted houses, and eerie graveyards, but don't need gore or excessive violence, which many more modern movies do have. I also prefer horror set in Victorian times or even earlier where they don't have much technology and it really adds to that overall atmosphere and immersion. Great stuff as always! Really digging your channel.

Like your channel. I have not seen all your reviews yet. But it's keeping me sane during the End of Days. Have you noted that many of the 70s and 80s movies made in the United Kingdom have very good visual effects for meagre budgets (excluding Star Wars and Superman movies). Someone would think the crew worked on something with a much lower budget and still had to produce "good" effects? P.S. Don't know if you have done Warlords of Atlantis Yet. Was it in your Doug McClure trilogy reviews. You would like the love interest. Given the writers and the plot, I believe it was a failed script for my favourite TV series.

Speaking of movies with a relationship to Tales From The Crypt, you should watch and\or review The Frighteners someday. The "middle child" of Peter Jackson's career that no one seems to remember, despite being a really fun horror-comedy. I genuinely don't understand why it doesn't have more of a following, except maybe that it's overshadowed by Jackson's early stuff. (The TFTC connection is that for awhile it was slated to be another TFTC movie, but then it turned into a standalone film.)

I too am always surprised that so few people have seen Lifeforce. Lifeforce is just a great deal of fun. Lots of gore, lots of nudity, plenty of action, and more than a few shocking moments that are truly effective horror. The acting is on point as are the FX. Then ending is a bit abrupt, but outside of that I always enjoyed the film. I think it deserves more attention than it gets outside of diehard horror fans like myself.
