Man thank you so much. I just did this on my toro and it worked perfectly. Saved me $300+

Really funny this popped up because I was just planning to do this exact thing with my new walk behind, except I was going to use 1" rubber stall mat instead of wood. You're the first I've seen use the original guard, and I was surprised I hadn't seen it before when I thought of it. I even had the same idea with the rope haha. Great job!

Love, love love it! Apears you also removed the chute spring, very easy to do, however. Will chop mine this weekend...

Also can take the chute right off and make a flat plate to bolt over the opening, since youre goal is to not have grass fly out, that section of chute you're leaving does zilch.....poor man's mulch setup 🤷♂️

Except you’re are eliminating the air flow by having a solid piece blocking the discharge, most all blockers have holes to allow air flow

Drill a few holes in the wood then....easy fix

When the block is up, does the grass shoot out normally despite the absence of a chute?

Yes

Curious, how does the grass Disperse to then. 🤔
@Bluegrass-Lawncare-LLC26 күн бұрын
It doesn’t, it leaves a row of grass behind . I made one a little different but similar concept and that was my problem. For my gravely 48”
@tricksofthetrade4385Күн бұрын
@darryldoty888 it still comes out the side and leaves a grass row....then you you come back on the next pass you clean it up
@stevenlong453611 ай бұрын
Seems like it would leave a thick trail of unmulched grass behind. Only reason I say this is because it’s too far from the blades and it will loose vortex and fall down
@tricksofthetrade438511 ай бұрын
Yes, that exactly what it does...and is ment to do. Most chute blocks that are even with the deck leave clumps that come out the back...this one leaves a nice wind row of grass that you can disperse on your next pass going the opposite direction. Hope this explains things. Thanks!

Yeah but leaning forward to grab the string just seems like such a hassle to me. I’d still rather pay money for a grassflap that keeps opening and closing the chute a hands free process
@branman721110 ай бұрын
To each their own I guess. What you made is very cool though no doubt, really creative
@tricksofthetrade438510 ай бұрын
The string can be tied anywhere...you don't have to tie it low. But to each there own. We run 6 zero turns...so this says me a ton of money.
