Because it is difficult to find the time to work on full bag projects, I have started printing 70%-75% reduced-size bag patterns and making mini charm bags. I think this is an interesting approach to building construction/design skills without investing in full-sized bags. Just a thought for a video idea.

I only recently understood how important it is to use the thinnest possible needles. I had underestimated the importance of even a small difference in diameter. At first, I didn't notice any problem because I was using 3.85 irons with JJ002 needles. Then I made the switch to Isvara and Beagle 3.0 irons, which have narrower teeth and couldn't figure out why I was getting errant stitches that looked awful. The problem had very little to do with stitching method and everything to do with needle diameter. JJ004 needles fixed the problem immediately.

Thanks for the video idea! I sort of knew beforehand but making the video really revealed to me the difference it can make. Even after hammering down on the stitches, the holes made by the larger needles didn't want to close up.

@@TeranAtelier I also knew about this beforehand, but I didn't think the difference between JJ004 and JJ002 would matter that much. I think the reason your Sinabroks 3.38 irons still work reasonably well is that the teeth are still rather wide. My frustration resulted from 3.0 irons with significantly narrower teeth, for which I had not accounted.

Yes I thought the wider prongs on my Sinabroks were a good thing but now I think they are overly wide. Sinabroks have just released a new thinner prong version of their pricking irons which is interesting.

JJ needles are great. I've been using them for years. SYSTEM S+U Saddlers Needles from Germany are beginning to be preferred by many. I haven't had a chance to use them yet. As far as I know, they need to be imported to the USA. Maybe give them a try and do a comparison video?

My JJ needles have been going great and I haven't had any break on me yet. It would be a tough video to make as I think it would be difficult to find any practical differences between the brands. SYSTEM S+U does however have one size smaller (0.7mm) available which is a good option.

Quick question? Which program would you say someone should study & use? Autocad, NanoCad or Adobe illustrator? I make leather wallets & leather Hat patches. I also have all 3 programs. Thanks.

I think AutoCAD is the best. It also lends well to 3D modelling/printing which can be useful for molds and templates.

What mm size edge creaser do you use for wallets?

I use an FN2 creaser tip for all my projects, it makes a rounded profile crease line 1.5mm from the edge of your leather.
