That's a good point, Mazda thrives to become a luxury brand, and the New Mazda 3 shows that very well. in terms of features per price it is closer to the corolla and civic even if it offers more luxury feel.

Not many people will buy GLIs, even if it's superior to the base models. The best part about it is that it's cheaper than the Golf GTI.

The answer to your question lays in the context. If you were to need just a simple, great car today that has everything you need (and even something you want), than this would be the car to get. It's really good when you compare it with others in the same class and price range.
