Why are there so many haters? If I had the extra cash lying around seems like a fun truck. I always wanted a jeep and electric car and now you kinda get both all wrapped up into one. I would not get a base model because whats the point of front wheel drive only with a truck. I guess even the haters help the algorithm of this video.
@IBL_81Ай бұрын
Yup, algorithm hype! As an owner, what I can tell you from first hand experience and my own “opinion” is this truck is phenomenally different and that’s the point. Some people don’t like change and that’s okay. For the rest of us Cybertruck is a leap forward cutting through the norm. I’ve experienced no hate owning this truck, only people curious to learn more. No one is forcing anyone to like this truck so drive what moves you.👍

Even the people who post videos about how much they hate the Cybertruck will give Tesla free advertising , people will see it , whether they like it or not and check it out , watch it and comment, and most will think it’s cool and want one. Then they will go to the local Tesla Store and see one and test drive it.

@@JosephViceonly ignorant people who buy into the negative ignorance being spread about this vehicle by manipulative idiots who either don't have a clue or else outright lie. The CyberTruck is much less likely to hit ANYBODY (pedestrians OR other vehicles) because of Tesla's industry-leading safety features. Sure, IF a CyberTruck runs into you at speed, you will have a bad day. However, you will ALSO have a bad day if an F150 runs into you at speed. The main difference is, you're much less likely to be run into by the CyberTruck.
@accountingstepbystep22292 ай бұрын
Thank you for the well done video. But wait! Cruise autopilot, control with lots of safety features has been available for months. I got my Cybertruck in June and it had working cruise control with all kinds of safety features including lane change assist, auto following distance, whatever that's called. You could even set it to stop at stop signs and red lights automatically if you wanted to. Now, however it has full self driving, like ultimate autopilot. It also has self-parking that works great for parallel parking and spaces you can back into. I've never charged my Cybertruck at a charging station, but rather simply plug it in at home with the cord that comes the the vehicle. I charge it overnight about every 4 days. Charging at a supercharging station is only needed if you can't plug the truck in at home. Regarding the operating cost being the same as an internal combustion vehicle, with the cost of diesel being what it is these days, it is MUCH, MUCH cheaper to operate than my other truck. Not even close. Regarding the rearview mirror, there is an electronic rearview mirror is built into the huge monitor. I would like it better if it was up where the rearview mirror is, but, at least it's there. I'm 6'4" and can sit comfortably in the front or rear seats with plenty of headroom. Yes, the Cybertruck is ugly, it does get finger marks (at lease until you wash it with something like Trtl Wx hybrid ceramic wash and wax), it can't tow a heavy trailer very far (tows 11,000 pound trailer about 100 miles before needing to charge) and yes, it gets hot inside due to all the glass top and the large windshield. But it can easily tow 11,000 pounds with plenty of power, it has adjustable ride height from about 8 inches to like 17 inches in extract mode and it comes with 35 inch tires so it's ready for off road driving, and with all this, it truly drives like a sprots car and it's much faster than it really should be. For the $99,900 price tag, yes it's a lot, but at least you get full self driving, connectivity for life, the tire package, a $2,500 Tesla credit, and a bunch of accessories like two sets of floor mats and such, so, yes, you pay a bit extra, like $4,000 extra plus or minus depending on how you calculate it for the Foundation series. But I did get some things in return, all of which I would have ordered anyway. Regarding being an attention grabber. At least in Miami, that ship has sailed. There are so many Cybertrucks in Miami, nobody even looks at it anymore. So on balance, am I happy with my Cybertruck? Absolutely.

I had a 77 Dodge Royal Monaco and we'd go to outdoor parties and have 6-9 people sitting on the hood and a few more on the roof and never so much as put a scuff on it. It was a luxurious tank but the 0-60 was around 12 seconds and gas mileage was around 6-9 MPG. It had no crumple zones, pretty poor handling, poor braking, crummy AM/FM radio with one speaker in the dash and one in the back, stopping once or twice on a long road trip to clean the points, alternators & water pumps every 30K miles and most were pretty much done in 100K miles or so (then again, since 2019 many new cars aren't much better)🙂. They emitted as much pollution per car as roughly 100 newer cars combined. My old tank made it to 150K but it was puking oil and overheating all the time (head gasket I believe) and then a rear axle decided to come out and had the tire outside the rear fender since the rear diff was too worn out to keep it in. I donated it to a guy who had one that was wrecked and he needed parts for his. RIP ol' Betsy:-). Don't get me wrong, old cars did ride a lot better than most cars on the road today, and I think the styling was more interesting and distinguishable than today's stuff. I also loved that you could work on it yourself. Part of the reason they all look alike now (except for CT, which is it's own thing) is aerodynamics. To add some interesting design might cost them big with fleet fuel economy standards.

more than 90 percent of charging for Teslas in the US (not Europe) is done at home.. where the cost is 1/3 of the cost of using a public supercharger. He's right on that Tesla superchargers are pricey but most of us charge almost exclusively at home. I have a Model S, with more than 350 miles of range, and other than the occasional roadtrip, i literally go years without using a supercharger in day to day driving. A full charge costs me about $9, for 350 miles of driving.

My local Electrify America DC Fast Charger price is 43 cents per KWH, so you can basically "fill up" for less than $30. I can "fill up" at home for under $7. Looks like Elon is gouging Tesla owners on the Super Chargers.

The high power DC charging can get expensive, you are correct. But you have to look at your actual annual cost. Every single night you are charging at home, hopefully you're on a time of day rate so you pay even less in the evenings.
@wyjpremiumАй бұрын
It’s only comparable to the price of fuel if you only use public chargers. If you charge at home it’s MUCH cheaper. I’ve owned an EV for a year and have used a public charger zero times so far. It’s about a quarter the price per mile compared to fuel.

My agent told me. $$Fire hazards. If I got in a wreck, either unrepairable or too much $$$ to repair Insurance would total it. I gotta be honest. I thought these trucks were BAU when they first came out. And after seeing them in reviews. And seeing them in person. I will admit. These are by far, the ugliest, most bland. Useless truck I’ve ever seen. I can see why you bought one. You obviously did it for content. Which is cool. Other than that. I can’t see a practical use for it.

The trailer hitch is, in fact, bolted to the frame of the Cybertruck. The problem is that the frame is a casting. Castings are brittle. The shock load delivered to the frame of that Cybertruck in the 'Whistling Diesel' video caused a brittle fracture failure. After seeing what the Germans did in WWII with 50,000 ton forging presses to make aircraft parts, the US government sponsored a few 50,000 ton presses for use by the aerospace industry. Renting time on one of those presses would have cost less than a casting facility and produced a stronger, tougher part.
@otm6462 ай бұрын
You clearly don't work in the metal forming industry. A forging press is absolutely nothing like the aluminum die casting machine both in process or equipment.
@richardbell76782 ай бұрын
@@otm646 That is my point. They are not similar. Castings are brittle in ways that forgings are not. When 'Whistling Diesel' repeatedly dropped the rear end of an F150 on its trailer hitch, the frame bent, but most of the deformation was undone, in the field, and facilities are readily available to precisely bend truck frames back into the correct shape. You can also weld forgings. I do not know if the frame casting of the Cybertruck can be repaired, but engine blocks and flywheel press slides are metal castings that cannot be welded back together if you manage to break them, so I would be pleasantly surprised to find out that a broken Cybertruck frame can be repaired.
@Abebe3452 ай бұрын
@@richardbell7678The F150 has no weight in the back. All the weight is in the engine mostly. The Cybertruck has a heavy battery plus 2 of 3 motors on the rear axles. If WD had loaded the F-150 with 3K ibs it would have been a similar comparison.
@richardbell76782 ай бұрын
@@Abebe345 No, it would have made the Cybertruck look worse. Either the hitch mounting point would fail, or the transverse frame member that the the hitch is mounted to would fail. With the help of some chains and a big bottle jack, they could force the bent member back to the right shape. They would need welding equipment to re-attach a snapped off hitch, but it is not that big a deal. If the F150 is like the 1983 Ford Ranger, the hitch is on the rear bumper and the rear bumper is bolted to the frame, so the likely result is a pair of broken brackets and some snapped bolts. The repairs would take an afternoon. The Cybertruck is in a world of pain, as you have just called into question the integrity of battery case. Maybe the cast frame can be welded, but the battery case must be checked for damage and certified as safe, before the insurance company will let it back on the road. I hope that that Cybertruck was not written off for damage that would have been easily repairable on a normal truck.
@Abebe3452 ай бұрын
@@richardbell7678 You misread me. I didn't call into question battery case. Maybe is doing heavy lifting here. We'll never know what the F-150 results would be w 3k lbs to be the same weight. But no one has hit the hitch assembly that way while avoiding the tires and sales have been strong. Doesn't look like a scenario people think they'll encounter with the Cybertruck or any other truck (we don't know the results without testing and this is too far out of the norm for buyers). Good to test the limits and the Cybertruck did well other than that 6 foot drop on the hitch with all of the weight.
