Better Sound and a Clock! - Echo Dot With Clock 4th Gen review. This years Echo and Echo Dot redesign is very polarizing with the sphere shape. But with that new design comes a new front firing speaker configuration. This upgrade does bring clearer highs and better bass. It is definitely an improvement on the Echo Dot 3rd generation. It also sounds more balanced than the Nest mini. This Echo dot becomes more useful with the Clock that will show you the time, timers, temperature, volume and alarms. I think it is worth the extra money to get the clock.

I like it with the clock. Got $10 off. I like that it shows the timer as it counts down. It will also show the temperature. I realized one night that you can turn off the clock at night. I Love it!!!!! I did not purchase it for sound. I have Bluetooth Bose speakers in the room connected to my TV. They say the new Echo is suppose to respond faster. I have not noticed that it does. I would have purchased the larger one if it had the clock.

I got the Spot w/clock to use as an alarm clock can't wait till it arrives.. Currently uses a Dot and and my phone for the same function. Dot w/clock is on sale but note the Dot w/clock is out of stock until mid December. It came bundled with a smart light bulb which is perfect for my bedside lamp.

Hi Craig- Wonder how different the Echo Spot is sound quality-wise to the new Dot? I got a Spot a couple of years ago to use as my bedroom alarm clock- while still being able to use it as a phone. I don’t ever use the video feature on it- as it’s tiny and pretty useless. Doesn’t look like the Spot ever sold well. I’m with your wife- and wish they’d put a clock/time feature on all of their models! Also- your joke about the spying....LOL you always crack me up! Lol Love it! You are right glancing at a clock is quicker (only if you have good eyesight from a distance). Otherwise voice works. Paul was a bit hard. I saw his video already, but people did inform him that the feature had not been turned on yet and it will come to the US first. He is after all in the UK. But I agree with him. They (Amazon) should not advertise the feature unless it is ready to be launched.

I’ve noticed they have mentioned it before for some features, but they don’t do it consistently. Therefore that is how there ends up being confusion as to the availability of certain features.

I can't tell what volume level the new speaker is at when I say "increase" or "decrease" volume. I find I have to say "set volume to 5" or "8".

Question: On the Echo Dot (4th Generation Clock) there is an LED Clock on the face of the “ball shaped dot”….. my question….. what do the two LED dots indicate that can light up on the face of the Echo Dot to the right of the displayed time? (Obviously not the colon in the time display, but to the right of the time display). I believe the bottom dot that looks like a period after the time is indicating an alarm is set, but I am looking to know what the dot above it indicates. Does anybody know?

Takes up a LOT less space than many alarm clocks. Controls my light with a smart plug. Feeds audio to my bedroom Klipsch three.

No because if you put a clock in the regular echo it will be blocking the two tweeters, they can do it on the echo dot because there's no tweeters on the front and only one speaker so that way the watch is not ruining the music

Hey Craig, if you still look at comments from this video, I was curious if the clock was different colors on the blue and white models? I just picked up a glacier white today to replace my clock and also add a speaker to my night stand, so I don't have to blare my main Echo in the bedroom just for audio books, etc. I like the bigger echos for serious listening while having one by the bed is nice for bedtime where it can be quieter since it's closer. Anyway, I was curious if the twilight blue dot has a blue clock, or if it's the same color white as the glacier white model. Anyway I have all three new colors now. Two full sized echo 4, twilight blue, and charcoal, and the glacier white dot, it just got. I watched this video before buying this, and it encouraged me to go ahead with my plans. Thanks again.

@@CraigsTechTalk Thanks, it's not a problem. Like I said I have all three colors in Echo 4's now. the full size are the blue and black, and the dot with clock is white. Where I have the dot with clock I was mainly curious if the darker blue over the grey would make it stand out more. However, having been through one day with different amounts of lighting, the white will do fine where it is.
