I loved to see Amy gradually becoming from someone who is as socially-awkward as Sheldon to someone who is loving, caring and mature woman. Her transformation shows us how great the storyline is and thus how important love is. Forever ur fan, Amy 💕

It's not character development they just rewrote her personality after a couple episodes

I love that long before Mayim was even cast as Amy, she was mentioned in regards to Blossom having received her Bachelors of Science in Neuroscience.

My favourite Amy moments are when she is "talking" to her monkeys. And when she hits Leonard with the cushion "how could you let him go!!!" 😂😂

A lot people say that Sheldon is autistic, but I feel like Amy is the one who’s autistic.

They both are. A misconception is that all autistic people are the same. But autism can manifest in many different ways. Also, it's important to remember that autism doesn't replace any personality traits. Sheldon is obnoxiously self-centered. That is not an autistic thing, but it is more pronounced due to some typical autistic traits like, for example, difficulties reading people's emotions (involuntary insensitive) or lack of "filter" and weak ability to understand social context, which makes them appear very blunt. I wouldn't mind dating an autistic (high-functioning) person at all. But what is most important to me is that the person is kind and decent. Sheldon is very funny, but he's, with some exceptions, not a kind or generous person.

I totally disagree! Amy’s personality defects are the result of her growing up with a repressive mother, not autism. Her awkwardness comes from having knowledge of but not experiencing much social interactions. That’s also why she comes across as clinical and robotic at first. That is different from most autistic persons who often shows apathy in social situations, like when Sheldon fails to register other people’s emotions and doesn’t (or can’t) respond to them accordingly. Also, Amy grows from her friendship with Bernadette and especially Penny. It frees her from her mother’s restrictive thinking so she becomes more “normal” (for lack of a better word). While Sheldon, on the other hand, sometimes had moments of clarity he essentially remained the same socially awkward person throughout the show’s run.
