I like how calm the sport ladies were. You realize the effect of your response is better when it's civilized
@didderjade5 жыл бұрын
Women deserve equality and equity whether they're visibly emotional or not. Calmness is a rhetorical tactic for dealing with the reality of men who react badly when a woman doesn't behave as the pretty, smiling mannequin they want her to be, but calmness is not in and of itself a moral virtue. And I would argue that intentionally suppressing and subjugating half the human race for no real reason is far less civilized than a member of that half getting angry at being subjugated.

@@didderjade Not just women. Men too. Everybody deserves respect! #Equality

Celestial Venus Men are not penalized for outwardly expressing anger. Not on a society-wide, systemic level. In fact, numerous studies show that in business settings, people consistently approve of men who behave aggressively and disapprove of women who do the exact same thing. Yes, equality is important - and right now, women are not equal. Hence the focus on women in my comment. (If there are two houses, and only one of them is on fire, why would you waste water on the one that’s not on fire?)
@ArkanMatlub035 жыл бұрын
@@didderjade what does the house analogy do with this
@didderjade5 жыл бұрын
lazygamer It’s a simplified example of prioritizing energy and resources. I was talking about an issue in which there is a disparity between how women and men are treated for the same behavior. Celestial Venus came in with a What About The Men, which was irrelevant because in the issue I was talking about (i.e. being taken seriously even when - or especially when - outwardly angry) men largely do not need assistance or support. So focusing energy and resources on supporting men in this particular area would be a waste of energy and resources.

1) Men's soccer, especially world cup, generates hundreds of millions more viewers and billions more $$.. If womens soccer generated the same money then the US woman's team would make more than the men, simple math. 2) USA was the one of the first countries with a decent soccer federation for women.. their competition is shite. 3) They deserve to be treated equally, but not paid equally (right now). They made the women play on turf for the world cup.. which is an insult to any player, so that's not okay. But once they get the viewership and sponsorship that the mens world cup has, then they'll get their money argument over.

I don’t really agree with your arguement here. Male sports, in this case soccer, generally get more viewers than female sports which get more sponsors and ad revenue. Which will be used to pay the players. Also the guys are better at soccer than the women they just have different competition. A 15 yr old boys team beat the us women’s team something like 7-1. Don’t say it’s because of genetics because generally people who say that also want equality and combined sports.

Solo Hope i think it was said in the video that the US women team generated more money. I have yet to find anything about this. If somebody has some real numbers could they share them with me? I know the US women team is doing a whole lot better in womens international football compared to men in mens international football. So what she is saying could be true, since the mens team did not qualify for the World Cup in Russia. The US soccer federation got paid 9 million dollars from FIFA back in 2014 for entering the second round in the world cup tho, but they only got paid 2 million dollars by FIFA when the women won the 2015 World Cup. In comparison Frances football federation got paid 35 million dollars for winning the 2018 mens World Cup. This is simply because mens football generates a whole lot more than womens football in general. 1 billion people watched the mens world cup final. I doubt this many watched the womens world cup final. With that said if the US womens national team does in fact generate more money the only logical solution would be that they get paid more. But this is surely a new tendency and its pretty extraordinary. I doubt you can find similar cases in any other national soccer federations. So probs to the US womens team. But in general i dont think its about sexism. To those who say that the US women would win agaisnt the men check this out www.google.dk/amp/www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-4389760/amp/USA-women-s-team-suffer-5-2-loss-FC-Dallas-U-15-boys.html You cant really compare mens and womens soccer. Women and men are different physically. Thats not a sexist thing to say this is just how the reality is. I dare say the average of the men are also better techniqually and tactically compared to the women. And the mens sport is significantly more watched all over the globe and it does generate tons of more money in general. Simple because it is a better product in my opinion. In my country the womens national team got free entrance at their home games. Yet they still recently came out and demanded equal pay, blaming it on sexism that they was under paid. That doesnt make sense to me when they dont even generate a fraction of money the men does in Denmark's instance. The danish men still offered a good deal out of solidarity. I actually think they ended up getting close to equal pay by taking the mens profits. But in the US womens situation i def think they should get a new deal. If what Hope solo said was true. Sorry about this long post just wanted to shed some light on this. It really isnt that black and white. Also heres another fun read for the ones who say women can compete with men in soccer, head to head www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3609949/Matildas-lose-7-0-Newcastle-Jets-15s-Rio-Olympics-warm-up.html

@mangalores-x_x6 жыл бұрын
"You cant really compare mens and womens soccer. Women and men are different physically. Thats not a sexist thing to say this is just how the reality is" That argument completely misses any point. None is arguing for mixed teams, hence this is irrelevant. It's just a strawman of "Oh, they are so delusional, it's not even sexist to say this!" Yes, it's also bollocks. We have segregated sports everywhere. Additionally the question of payment is heavily distorted concerning the aspect of base pay vs. marketing gigs. Yes, popularity of a soccer player means he can earn millions via sponsors and none should deprive him of that. The question is whether the sports association should pay by performance in their category and hence pay more equally. The money they rake in via broadcasting rights etc. they rake in for the entire company, not just for a single team, even if there might be only a handful of players with superstar draw. So demanding equal pay her is not really ridiculous. The main issue being that professional sports is about heavy investments, so if you do not put any money in you also will never see the peak performance.
@elmatheus29176 жыл бұрын
@@mangalores-x_x mangalores-x_x like i said in my post, if the US women really earns more money for the national federation than the men, i will 100% agree they should get paid more. They definitely deserve equal pay. It isn't because men and women are equal. They deserve equal pay because capitalism demands they get equal pay. Our economy is based in principle on supply and demand. Sports is highly influenced by results. The women's soccer team gets better results and is competitive in viewership and attendance with the men's team. Attendance and viewership statistics demand they get equal pay. This isn't a feminist argument. Women basketball players don't deserve equal pay with male basketball players because they don't receive the viewership or attendance. Women's basketball is viewed more in foreign countries and guess what; women get paid more to play basketball in foreign countries. Capitalism is a very simple system if followed correctly and in relation to sports. Normal domestic jobs aren't based on viewership and attendance; women and men in those jobs should start with equal pay. Pay should differentiate based on merit and accomplishment after they begin the job.

Semi I doubt the women's soccer team draws the same amount of viewership as the male team. The male team play in much more popular tournaments. The men's FIFA world cup is the largest sporting event on the planet with the most views. Also the women's team would not win a single game if they played in the men's circuit.

I am talking about soccer viewership in America only. The top viewed American National games are women's games. The women's world cup victory game had the highest ratings of any soccer game ever in America. During the Rio Olympics the Men got better travel accommodations and higher per diem. The same organization employs both the mens and womens teams. Why treat them differently even for the Olympics where most of the athletes are amateurs. I am not arguing that the women's soccer league deserves the same pay as the men get in MLS. MLS gets more attendance and higher views. The Men's national team isn't getting more views than women. Second the U.S. men's team didn't even make the world cup; so they got zero views.

BTW, the argument that the women can't beat the men is the dumbest argument ever. The product just needs to be watchable. Women's soccer is watchable and competitive. Women's tennis gets high viewership even though people know they can't beat the men. The product just needs to captivate an audience. Men's sports are more captivating to audiences normally. The U.S. Women's National team is captivating, are champions, and are consistent. They deserve equal pay and treatment with their male National team counterparts.

I understand that some of you guys think they women can’t physically compete with men in sports but on the professional level that shouldn’t matter. They bring in more revenue so they should get paid more showing that more people care about the women’s team imo.
