@@KristiWright You and Andrew should put the typically 100k or more worth of front end equipment you heard with the Wilson on the KEF or other cheaper speakers. Wilson has always been carried by accompanying front end equipment. It is definitely some genius of the Wilson speaker.

Mulțumim! Hi Andrew, I have a question, I want to buy a soundbar, I really like the Sonos Arc, what do you recommend I get? Sonos, Samsung q990c or JBL 1300? It's not a budget problem, is Sonos above the two in terms of sound quality or not? thank you!

If you want a nicer looking soundbar solution with a better overall App-based, eco-system, get the Arc+Sub+pair or ERA 300s. But if you aren't as concerned with esthetics and don't mind Samsung's App you will save nearly a grand by going with the 990C. Both bars are capable of exceptional performance and can totally anchor a home theater. The Sonos is a little easier to setup though you don't have as much room for manual adjustments, but both are great choices.

Appreciate the support, I would start by making a list of what you is most important to you. For example, do you want to watch movies, just listen to music or more of a fifty-fifty split? From there, decide if you have a big room and how much gear do you want and/or want to see. It's one thing to say "get myself into the audiophile world" it's another thing to suddenly realize that world can entail tower speakers, amps, preamps and sources all with cables and whatnot between 'em, which may be more clutter etc. then you want. Once you have your list, you can start to shop. If you want none of the complications, you may want to look at smart speakers like this one bit.ly/38uKhGE which is basically a hifi system on its own no additional components.

OMG!!! That is so cool Kristi got that moment with the SabrinaX! I started my hifi journey with you guys during the pandemic. I had purchased 3 pairs of speakers and then I went in one Saturday to a hifi dealer just for fun because I had time. Wasn’t intending on purchasing anything. I sat down in front of those speakers and had the EXACT SAME experience you are describing. It was like Chris Cornell was in the room with me and I could feel his angst in his voice. It was that moment that I knew I had to have them. Price be damned. Nothing else I’ve demoed from KEF, Dynaudio, Q Acoustics, Sonus Faber… They were all great in their own right… But Sabrina was a different animal altogether. Hi Andrew, huge fan of the channel. I'm in the process of fully upgrading my setup and I have decided on the Q Acoustics 5040, and the Pro-ject debut carbon evo turntable. However, I'm torn between the Technics SU-GX70 and the Yamaha R-N100a. I love the idea of the all-in-one integrated amp and both of these options check all the boxes of features I'm looking for (phono, DAC, HDMI for TV/movies, network streaming, etc.). Between the Yamaha and the Technics what would you recommend as the best pairing for the Q acoustics? Thanks!

Thank you for your support @natefordm, we really appreciate it. As for your question, both integrated amplifiers are going to be, in my opinion, good fits for the Q Acoustics. If it were me, it's going to come down to the size of your room and your listening habits. Obviously the Yamaha is the more powerful of the two amps and therefor is going to give you the utmost long-term flexibility should your room, speakers or habits change. Given that these two products are more or less the same price, I would likely err on the side of caution and go Yamaha since I don't know your personal tastes and am attempting to make a general recommendation. That said, if you don't mind the signal from your Pro-ject being "digitized", I personally prefer the cleanliness of the Technics' phono preamp compared to just about anything. It doesn't remove pops and clicks, but it does a little something-something that is hard to put a finger on (apart from it converts all signals to digital) that Kristi and I gravitate towards --at least with respect to vinyl playback. Again, both are good choices, it just comes down to whether or not you think you can get by longer term with Technics' lower power. Hope this helps!

I have a bunch of Kef products including the R3, LS60, LSXII, & R11 Meta (front stage in our dedicated theater with R6 Meta and in wall and ceiling kefs). R11 Meta is my favorite of the bunch. I can't recommend them enough! Love your channel. Looking forward to your content in 2024!

This is actually my very first soundbar ever and I had been seriously considering the RZ-50 when my much older Onkyo home theater receiver from the pre-2010's was finally laid to rest following its slow demise earlier last year. Really! I can't believe how much people like this soundbar, I wish I could hear it. I have the bose 900 Dolby atmos soundbar with the nicer surround speakers and 2 subs. It's funny I had it connected to my Samsung frame tv that is a few years old now and it kept popping the subs but now I have lg c2 oled and the popping stopped so its been good but I want more at this point, I feel like I paid to much you know

Got the S95B for 950$, and the Q990B for 750$ after summer this year. And i have to say that the value in HDR with Atmos is just amazing. Getting that great sound, with sub and rears in one easy package is hard to argue with. Samsung really knows their soundbars.

Pro tip for the 990c! There is a firmware/software update that you have to manually apply with a USB drive. Google should help you get there. The update provides a noticeable sound improvement and im sure many other optimizations.

Your channel is just so great and a help. Thats why i decided to go for the yamaha rn1000a and the q acoustics 5040. It takes me now over a year for what i should decide, but the latest ampliefier reviews like for the gx70, the stereo 70z by marantz and the RN1000a gave me the right direction. In terma of the speakers i didnt had a doubt about sinxe the 5040 were releases. I love the design and also watched ao many videos that say the aame like youra did ... Just awesome for that price. I bought the audiolab 7000a. It didn’t sound strong or good at low levels. Is this a gain issue with amplifiers? Anyways I retired it. Would a hegal h190 sound better or nothing will change. I have a hifi intergrated from the 90s and its sounds good at low volumes.

Have never had the opportunity to test Hegel. Can't say we had your experience with the Audiolab. What speakers are your using?

I’m not really surprised that the AZ7000 won out for you but a purchase is high praise indeed! I don’t want to find my comment about the big TV going back on the wall..but…CALLED IT! It was a great year for sure! Things may have appeared to have slowed because halfway through the year we cut our video output in half to save our sanity and this meant we reviewed fewer products this year compared to last.

When it comes to playing stereo on a Japanese AVR, Sony is at the top. The more they cram within an AVR chassis, the more the sound quality is likely to diminish. Hence, best sounding AVR's are also likely to be the least user-friendly. Unlike direct stereo (digital) on Japanese AVR's. With Anthem & Arcam, there's no compromises. Direct stereo can only be accomplished through analogue! However, digital stereo on a Sony AVR sounds pretty damn good in comparison. Good choice.

First: thank you both for years of insights and entertainment. Second: I bought the R11 Meta after your review and have loved them since unboxing. (Paired with Hegel H390, Mini DSP, REL T7/x). Finally: after watching this video I turned off the TV and sat listing for 4 hours. Reminded of a great track you may enjoy: Lorde Supercut and the transition into Liability. Perfection. And really shows off the power of the R11’s.

I am gonna get the ARC ULTRA so since the bass is better should i go with the rears before the sub ? can only afford either or for now was thinking of the ERA 100's or the mini sub or is it crucial i get the ERA 300's and the GEN 4 Sub room is 12x14 feet 7 foot ceiling i watch alot of sports and movies so your thoughts are appreciated great review by the way thx cheers from Vulcan Canada

Considering I’m gonna buy a Sony 7000 AVR with a 95L and kef speakers for a 7.2.6 system , this video makes me very happy lol

Im still so pleased w my marantz av preamp. But if i were in the market for a new one, sony 5000 or 7000 es would be where i would jump. Even as just a preamp. Two centers and the spacial room correction is so appealing. Cheers to the Sony!
