I've been drooling over so many Mooncat polishes for a while, but they remain firmly out of my budget along with all the other indies and boutique polishes out there. I'm not a big fan of thermals in general but Sagebrush is one I would love to have as I love both the warm and cold shades and wouldn't be disappointed if it got stuck in either state when the thermal pigment dies. And yay to the shoutout to Linry and her video covering the exploding bottle situation. She did such an awesome job digging into it and keeping it lighthearted and entertaining.

I love the cold state of thermals more, so I don't mind, that the pigments will cease to change. I don't love the caps of Mooncat polishes. But the colors are exquisit. I've already got some of the ones you mentioned. Fields of Lavender belongs in The Hall Of Fame of Polishes!

I love longer videos from you! Also, I feel like you’re one of the few nail creators that considers those of us who have (relatively) small collections (200-ish bottles). I feel like a lot of people dismiss polishes as basic/boring/overdone (the whole time it’s a neon green with red suspended in it and hexagon glitters, lol) but forget to consider that indies are new to a lot of us. I still have a salon brand majority and am looking to grow my indie polishes, so it feels dismissive when larger creators write off polishes just because they have 50 similar ones lol

YAY!!! I was hoping you would bring back this series for this years black friday sales. One of my favorite series from you, they honestly really help when purchasing, thanks again Stefanie. Also wanted to add now that I've watched the whole video, Michelle's swatches I generally find to be the most inaccurate of all the swatches on the site. Look at her video swatch of fields of lavender vs yours. I have this polish as well and bought it based off her swatch and was disappointed that the base didn't look quite as purple as hers did. Still love it but I find the other swatches on the website to be more accurate.

@@PolishedYogi Oh shoot, I wasnt trying to accuse her of photoshop or anything. I think its probably just a couple different factors coming into play. Hers specifically just tend to not look like what I end up with. But there are a couple of other swatchers that they have who, for me, get it completely accurate to what I see. Just something I have to be mindful of when I order from them again. As for the swatch for Lavender Fields its not under the swatch photos, you have to scroll down a little (if on mobile) its right under the add to cart, there are a handful of little videos. Michelle's looks a lot more bright, mid tone purple as opposed to that very muted plum that I see.

Mooncat is definitely my favorite brand. It took over my whole collection this year, but not gonna lie this happened because I’m afraid they will retire their shades sooner than I expected. I got resented with the brand when they retired a bunch of shades this last January, just after the holidays when most of people were pretty much broke. However, I have forgiven them as they took a slow pace in their releases this year. This antecedent made me focus on them this year as now in every sale I’m buying the oldest shades from my wishlist, as I’m afraid they will retire them. I’m pretty much just collecting this brand because financially I can not buy anything else. I’m in shock your Curse of Calypso got faded. I immediately went to check mine (so so nervios about), sadly I confirm mine faded as well 💔. IT WAS MY FAVORITE SHADE OF MY WHOLE COLLECTION 😔I’m heartbroken. This shade means a lot to me: it was my first purchase, made me fall in love of the brand and I feel like it is our shade and we have talked so much about it. It represents so well my personality. You really just shared really bad news here to me. I’m actually feeling quite similar as last January and conflicted about my priorities as a collector and the next sale.

I do understand this underlying fomo of buying things just in case they do get retired later.. it really does suck especially since when they first started they said they weren’t going to be doing LE anymore. But that wasn’t true either since they had a few LE individual releases between collections 🤔 at the same time I understand them not having the room to keep everything, but I wish they could do something similar to holo taco where people can vote to bring back a handful of shades one year! But yeah it’s smart to buy some of the older polishes on your wishlist first, though based off of what they retired in January there were a few “recent” releases from the summer before I think. But ugh I’m so sorry yours has also faded!! I immediately thought of you when I realized this 💔 I wonder if that’s a polish they would retire since it’s clearly not a stable pigment.. such a shame 😞 I understand why some people are collectors, but yeah unfortunately nail polish can sometimes “go bad” and not make it worth collecting anymore. It should be used and enjoyed! 🥺 but I will say it’s definitely worth buying during the sale vs full price! So maybe you can revisit your wishlist and only grab a few this time around

I am soo glad you mentioned the bottles breaking so easily - I had recently purchased a handful of polishes from them & 1 of them, The 13th Hour, arrived very badly cracked. I reached out & they sent a replacement, which arrived in good shape. But then, I dropped it on my floor from my coffee table & it shattered. I have dropped A LOT of things from my coffee table, including a TON of nail polish bottles, and have NEVER had a glass bottle break, let alone shatter the way this one did. It was all over my floor & I still haven't been able to remove it completely. I thought maybe it was just an issue with the "the 13th hour" bottles, but it sounds like a lot of the older polishes may have this problem... 😕

Quicksands' Embrace has become one of my fave polishes of all time. I really love it for when I travel for work. But I totally agree, there's little to no holo effect at all. I forgot it was supposed to be a holo by the time I got it and didn't use the magnet the first time I used it. The second time I wore it, I used the magnet and saw no difference, LOL. Good thing its a gorgeous polish all on its own.

My Treachery in Blue is mauve in the warm state, but i knew that going in. I wait for reviewers like you to post before i buy any Mooncat polishes because it's much truer to color. I will say that i do also find their polishes to be on the thicker side. But i love the colors they release, so using thinner isn't a big deal to me.

I'm trying to decide between your hearts a black hole and arsonist. Are they different enough to get both? I prefer a blue toned red if that helps.

Yeah narrowing it down is the hardest part when they’re all so pretty lol 🥲 and oo I actually compared those in my review vid for Pandora Unboxed if you want to see them side by side, I personally would say they are different enough lol I think I would say The Arsonist is a smidge more blue toned, the magnetic is a little muted so it’s kinda hard to tell but it’s def more of a blue toned red than orange.

Oooh, lots of lovely polishes in there. I do love Mooncat. Not fond the price but I've been happy with all of their polishes. I have 69 of them. Never had a bottle burst nor needed customer service. House of Hades did get a smidge thicker for me but not enough to add polish thinner. Definitely one of my top 5 polishes of all time. So far with wearing it I have prompted 6 people to purchase it and all have been super happy with that polish. The swatch photo thing not good. But then I now hold out for video reviews from multiple people before I buy anyway. One collection I majorly regret buying was the kaleidoscope haze. I am not a milky crelly person. I didn't wait for reviews on that one. I only liked the deep blue and fuchsia from that collection. The others I didn't care for. I ordered curse of calypso well after it was launched. Mine has always been that pale color. In that order, I think I ordered too many polishes and didn't notice that it didn't match the swatches. The collections are spot on for theme. Always so carefully curated and tempts me to order the whole collection. One other reason I like Mooncat is the bottle shape. I can fit 2 of those in the space I could fit one polish bottle of most brands. LOL!

I’m so glad that you address issues. I have issues with House of Hades being THICK right when I received it. It is the worst application experience out of all of my polishes. Very gloopy and messy, which just bums me out. I’ll get some thinner and I’m sure it will be fine. My bottle is just on the disappointing experience. Love your videos!!!

Aw I’m sorry you had a problem bottle!! It really does sound so annoying 😩 I would recommend getting KBshimmer’s thinner as it’s heptane free, heptane breaks down glitters so I wouldn’t want you ruining any other polishes that might need it!! But thank you so much for the love 🥹🤗

I love their top coat too! I haven't tried the Elixir because I use a face oil from Anima Mundi for my hands and nails. My nails (knock wood) don't break. I do want to try their elixir though! I own about 150 of their polishes. My most used Mooncat polishes - Moon Jelly, Moonicorn and Moonrise. As someone who works with dyes for a living, I am not surprised at all by fading in shades.

Your whole part about thermals 😂 I’m realllllly holding back on sagebrush because it’s so pretty! but i also have like enough polishes where I don’t think I should get it 😅 Something that helps me with deciding against thermals (just personally) is that I like to keep my nails super short, and I know the shift can still show up on short nails but I don’t really think it would be worth it for me. Good video! I always like hearing your opinions on what you like from a brand

oh my god that kind of color change over time happened to an illamasqua polish YEARS ago (maybe even a decade ago haha) i remember the controversy of that where people got a significantly different color than what was advertised because the pigment just wasnt stable. i actually have a bottle that was a "bad" one haha

Thanks for the video! Been trying to decide if I will get the Pandora's box collection. In past sales, the regular discount you get by buying the whole collection goes away. Sometimes, polishes sell out. I'm debating getting the whole collection because the past 20% discount isn't too much more than the current 13% discount for the whole set. The glow in the dark polish looks boring and that's the only thing keeping me from the whole set. I've read that some companies make glow in the dark polishes that last up to two days after a charge. How long does the Mooncat last? If it lasts super long, maybe it's worth it? I asked Linry when she did her glow-in-the-dark comparisons, but she didn't have the Mooncat to compare. You’re so welcome!! I honestly haven’t worn the GITD for longer than a day, nor have I tried all the gitd brands/polishes out there but Mooncat is definitely one of the best in terms of how strong the glow is! It’s on par with Holo Taco imo. So I would say it’s worth it to grab the collection, worst case scenario you can easily destash it if you don’t like it! Mooncat resells pretty easily

My Mooncats are all fine but I agree when you and many others say or are saxing Treatchery in blue is diffrent on the Website picture or morphed in a different ish shade. Mine give me in the warm state zombie nails 😅

Yeah it is a shame how much more muted it looks now, at least when I first swatched it, it has a nice color even if it wasn’t as pink as Michelle’s swatch lol. But at the same time I feel like it looks like the other swatch photos so I’m not sure anymore 😅

After seeing your swatches, I'm considering fields of lavender. At first I dismissed it as I thought the cool muave might look too off on my neutral warm skin, but seeing it velvetised, I think the red- orange shimmer might offset the coolness a bit? Since this is my first purchase from Mooncat, I'm limiting to 6 bottles max to get an idea of how their formula performs on my nails. So far my cart is Fool's Gold, House of Hades, Maelstorm, Dark Horse and Flight of the Monarchs.

Yeah I would hope the bright red/orange shimmer would offset some of the cooler purple tones! But with velvet nails the whole illusion is like an all or nothing thing, where you either fully see the base color or the intense shimmer if that makes sense.. i unfortunately don’t know for sure what my undertone is, but I would guess I lean cool-neutral ?? Definitely smart to limit your first purchase just to try them out! That’s such a great wishlist, I hope you’ll love all of those!! 🤩

There was a controversy with house of Hades ? I bought it after seing it on you channel (my first indie polish !) and mine was perfect ! I need 2 coats for sure, maybe even 3 but that's it.

Oh no! Is it on the thicker side? It might need a few drops of thinner, or just needs to be shaken up really well. That usually helps me with stubborn magnetics!

I knew you were going to say Sagebrush before you said it... 😅 I still don't have any Mooncat (I'm kind of wary of the odd shape/feel of their caps, considering my dominant thumb/wrist issues from an old chronic barista work injury) but I'm still curious to see what they put out there, and if there were any shades of theirs that really caught my attention this year, it was Sagebrush! Those two muted shades of green are just so classy and understated, while the polish itself is still quite special for having that thermal transition. Oh man, sale... I only got Mooncat shades cus of nostalgia (the PPG release) as well as the ones you've recommended many times (Midsummer's Dream and House of Hades). I just got my bottle of House of Hades the other week, and it is on the thin runny side. It takes me 4-5 coats on my short nails to get opacity. I have a super dark purple I like this one layered on top of that gives me opacity of HoH better with less polish. No regrets on HoH though, I looove it!

Ugh I’m sorry yours was so thin!! They probably over corrected their batch since a lot of people said it was too thick lol 🫠 but yes I just saw another comment that mentioned people later HoH over Holo Tacos Indigo Away or other dark purples and it looks incredible!! So I’m glad you still love it, it should last you longer being used as a topper instead of doing 3+ coats too!

I love your recommendations and I’m a bit sad about Curse of Calipso 😢but I still love it! About House of Hades I own a very faulty one (5-8 coats to reach opacity) BUT Someone or Reddit shares this combo: Holo taco Indigo away (I do two coats) and two coats of House of Hades (even if is faulty) it will blow your socks off!!!! Trust me and thank you to the kind person that commented that looooong long time ago and could not find the comment again maybe is around here???? 😅 idk

How would you compare Freshly Bitten to Lurid Lacquer's Creeping Horror? I can't decide if I need the Mooncat when I have the Lurid.

Oh yeah those are super similar! The only difference is that Mooncat doesn’t have reflective glitter and its base is a touch more cooler/mauve-y, I think Lurids is a bit more of a saturated red leaning purple. But they have the same exact duochrome shimmer so at first glance they do really look the same lol.

Does nail polish thinner really help? Does it make the polish like brand new? Or does it change the color at all? I have one polish that is THIIICCCCC now and would be cool if i could fix it to use again. It's an OOOLLLDD MAC Cosmetics Polish from back when i was working in the shopping mall, so many many years ago. 😅 i would love to wear it again as ive never seen the color anywhere else in a polish. 😢

Yes like the other commenter said it does help!! I would highly recommend checking the ingredients though and avoiding thinners that have heptane bc that ingredient can actually dissolve glitters, thus changing the color. Holo Taco & KBShimmer are safe options, I believe it’s the thinner from Sally Beauty Supply stores called Beauty Secrets that has heptane in it. You just wanna add a few drops at a time and shake it up, it’s better to not add a ton at once bc then it can get TOO thin lol but best of luck restoring your old Mac polish!!!

I didn't know Curse of Calypso faded. My bottle showed up exactly like your faded bottle. I totally thought that's how it was intended. The darker purple definitely doesn't look like their product photos at all. Personally I was disappointed because the product photos were very pink, and it's not that at all on my nail.

They must have had so much inventory of it vs getting a fresh bottle.. and to be fair I think my older clips make it look more saturated, but the original was still a sheer purple-y lilac color.. that’s strange though I feel like the website photos don’t look as pink to me?? The only issue I have had with mooncat is their crappy bottle breaking. I hear horro stories of their batches being inconsistent though… I am probably still ordering some of their polishes when they have their sale though.

I totally understand that! And yeah the batch inconsistencies is such a weird thing too, now that I think of it I remember seeing a post on Reddit a few months ago about how different Stumped looked, where it was nearly black! I know there can be some variance from batch to batch but i don’t understand how they can like test a new batch next to their original and say yeah that’s good enough 🥴 it definitely would be worth buying on sale vs full price!!
