@@joeandrews7329 I love how they repeated this trend with the villain in Fully Loaded. He starts off reasonably normal but a bit self centred and narcissistic and then by the end, everyone thinks he’s crazy and obsessed over just a car 😂
@nascarfanatic24255 ай бұрын
@@Snowfang00 Yeah, but what I didn't like about that movie was how the premise kind of goes in the opposite direction as the original. In the original Love Bug, it was obviously about Herbie and how the car was great. In Fully Loaded, it tried to hard to sell Lindsay Lohan's character, Maggie. Plus, the original kept the premise within believability, whereas Fully Loaded added more absurd premises to the movie. To be fair, maybe it just comes from being a NASCAR fan for years, so I know Herbie would never pass pre-tech, but it feels like the movie was playing with matches by putting NASCAR into the movie.

One of the funniest villains ever. I so miss these old live action Disney films.

If people don't remember the movie for the car, the next most memorable part of The Love Bug was without a doubt Peter Thorndyke. 😂
@sashamountainwater93224 жыл бұрын
Defiantly. I agree with you there, he has to be one of the most memorable characters in this movie and yes we need more villains like this nowadays, the older movies were filled with so much heart and here I am a 13 year old that even knows that.

I also thought in the sequel, Alonzo Hawk was pretty funny as the evil real estate developer. I always remember the scene where Herbie was so angry he broke into Hawk's office and chased him around! Hilarious.

David Tomlinson should have done more Disney Films. I could see him in Babes In Toyland, Pete's Dragon, Robin Hood, Pollyanna, The Happiest Millionaire, Basil The Great Mouse Detective, The Aristocrats and the Witch Mountain Films. He was so good Disney should have brought him back time and again. Shame he retired when he did as I could see him also later as part of Mel Brooks' team as well as his own comical detective series later on. Loved him. One of a kind. Truly missed.

My twin sister watching "The Love Bug" as a 25 year old on TV, and at his introduction, she said "it's the dad from Mary Poppins". Beautiful how David Tomlinson could just play the same character with the same clothes/personality, and can just make it either a hero, villain or a painfully under-stressed but misguided parent figure which still come out just as *purely* engaging. He, in my opinion, deserves at least a statue/plaque at all the Disney parks/studios. The same goes for Robert Stevenson also.
