August is still winter in Chile, and Santiago is wet and cold in winter. Temperatures are between -2 and 18 Cª. You may even have a snow day in some years. September is the start of spring. Still cold, especially after sunset, windy, but nice and green during the days. Temperature between 7 and 26 Cª. Little rain. Independence day celebrations are between 17th and 21st of September. Many chilean flags, armed forces parades, plenty street food, happy people everywhere.

I think this one could have been made by Mel Brooks comedy. You started out in a so called nice quiet neighborhood that had bars on the door and windows and then you get a hair cut with a gun with the scissors and combs. It would have been a spoof to have you two talking about how nice it was and the people as you are both being robbed and taking your money and jewelry and shoes and still saying how nice the people and neighborhoods are. I just saw all of that so easy and funny to me. Thanks for the escape.

Most places down in South America have bars and fences. It certainly doesn't reflect how things are today... perhaps it's a sign of how things were in the past. The gun is a prop at the barbers.
