I just got a new (to me) 5th wheel. Pd $7,000 for it. It was like new and very well maintained. Bought from owners. It replaced the one I had and gives me twice the room and storage. My old one was 8x24 with one slide. New one 8x35 with 3 slides. I live full time in an RV park. I do not travel.

Thanks for the wonderful video. I have a 2003 Chevrolet 1500 HD Crew Cab with a 6.0L gas. I guess the first and last one would probably be best for my truck.

Matching a truck and towable RV can be a real challenge. I'll be making a video on the subject before too long. But the bottom line is make sure you know how much your truck can safely tow before buying an RV. It may take a lot of research to get reliable figures on a truck that is 20+ years old, but it will be well worth knowing.

Man just got back from Camping World after looking at a couple in the 85k range and man was I disappointed. What a bunch of crap. I was putting my little one up on a bed and I could of easily ripped the trim board off the wall. I almost leaned on a desk and for sure with one hand could of ripped it off the wall. Just sucks.

There is a lot of poor quality out there in the RV world right now. Buyers have to be very careful.

I'm sorry, but I don't agree with your comment. You have painted the entire industry with a very wide negative brush. And I realize that kind of opinion is common these days. But it's not the entire truth. I agree that some high production brands could definitely improve their quality. But there are brands that make better low-cost products and are worthy of consideration, like the ones I mentioned in the video. There is a market for these low-cost fifth wheels and as long as they are used the way I described in the video, they will fit the needs of their RV owners.

You’re missing the base vehicle weight or the cargo carrying capacity. That is extremely important also. But, good information.

I don't have time in these videos to cover all of the stats on each model. And the most important weight to know for selecting a tow vehicle is the GVWR, not the UVW.

I am a GM guy. I know that Ford has the market share when it comes to class C chassis. Chevy has some smaller class C’s that I’ve seen going down the road. What brand makes and models of Class C’s offers the GM chassis regardless of their size (3500, 4500,5500 etc)? This might limit my search, and are they good? GM got out of the market years ago for some reason didn’t they?

Yes, GM ceded the chassis market for RVs a long time ago. And Ford dominates the market now. Although I wish they had some decent competition because they really need to improve their current chassis offerings. There may be some GM chassis being used that I am not aware of at this point. But none of the brands that I recommend are using them.

What is a “normal temperature range”? Arizona would be different than Maine

Most of these fifth wheels are fine in temperatures that range from 35 - 90 degrees. But extreme temperatures outside of that range makes it more difficult to remain comfortable in the RV.
