I don't understand why people get on someone's page/site and make negative comments. Everyone cooks differently. This was his version of how he makes oxtails. I've seen people sear them first, add wine, then bake in the oven for an extended amount of time. It looks great to me. I will try this recipe some day soon. Great job!!

@@SouthernSmokeBoss, I tried this recipe, I seasoning them the way you did, I than I lightly battered them in flour and brown them on each side ( This keeps the Oxtails from breaking/falling apart, I than added slice carrots, slice celery, slice onions I also didn't use a crock pot instead I bake them in the oven on low heat (250) for about 6-8 hours (give or take), I did follow your brown gravy and cream of mushroom advice and Thanks to you they were awesome and people are saying they were the best they ever had, I also been asked to do some for Thanksgiving so Thanks again because your gravy recipe took them to another level, Peace and love, David.

My man, looks pretty good to me and a very simple way to get a good gravy for those that can’t or don’t want to make it from scratch. I’ve got no problem with this. One suggestion, if you get a bowl of ice and a large metal spoon you can easily get the fat off the top of the gravy. Set the spoon in the ice for a few moments and then drag it across the top, the fat will stick to the cold metal. Rinse and repeat until gone. Keep posting and I will keep following my brother

That is a good tip for skimming the fat, I'm going to try it when I boil chicken for enchiladas because I use the broth to flavor my Mexican rice. And I also add the broth back into the shredded chicken and spices

This is my 3rd time using your recipe. I did tweak it a little seasoning wise but everything else was the same. U have a heavy accent so I mistakenly thought u said “just put it on high & let it cook through” so the first 2 times I cooked it on high the full 8 hours 😅 It still tasted very delicious but I kept wondering why the oxtail was completely falling apart 😂 just to make sure this time I turned the captions on & noticed you were saying just put the gravy mixture on HALF & it will cook through to the bottom 😂🤦🏾♀️ I scrolled down & seen u telling ppl low for 8hrs & high for 4hrs I should have took the time out to look for answers the last 2 times 😂 6 hours on high gave me the right tenderness for me, it was tender enough to fall off the bone but not crumble. Thanks again for the recipe ❤

You don’t have to sear them at all, the trick to cooking beef oxtails etc is cooking temp long term. Think brisket cooking as the crock pot is doing the same thing consistent low heat helps gelatinize the fibers in the oxtail searing is strictly for looks and texture but the slow and low is the key.
