I took my 4 children and then spouse to PEI 20 years ago, my oldest daughter wanted to see 'Green Gables' home? Of her favorite author. We ate at a place 'The Fishermen Wharf' we mounds of mussels. Some oysters, I enjoy oysters of any type just about any way, raw, Rockefeller, garlic parmesan, breaded, my own oyster soup (made some today), oyster dressing and love po' boy subs. Nice video. Best

This was so interesting, great job with it!! I love the look of an oyster in a bloody mary. THAT makes a fun morning 🍹And to answer your question, no I've never been up to PEI. I'd love to go sometime!

Thank you!! It was a Caesar actually! The Canadian version of a Bloody Mary but made with Clamato juice, vodka, horseradish, Worcestershire sauce, celery salt and maybe some tabasco! You definitely need to add PEI and Caesars to your list! lol

Cocktail oysters are not harming the industry, the only reason the 3 inch size limit is in place is for the wild fishery, oyster farmers don't have an issue with growing cocktails whatsoever. The wild fishery and the Aquaculture industry are totally different industries. I've fished wild oysters for over 20 years before retiring from that industry and moved on to farming oysters on PEI. I've been in the Aquaculture side of it now for over 20 years

i just found this video and i am now drooling... I can get this type of oyster for $1.75 each.. how much is it over there right at the source?
@TravelYourself5 жыл бұрын
Anywhere from $1 to $4 depending on where you get them :)
@nael27705 жыл бұрын
@@TravelYourself i would think that 4$ is from a restaurant? but if you buy it from the source unshucked? could 1$ only?
@wasupfool56923 жыл бұрын
@@nael2770 if you buy directly from an oyster farmer we get 35 cents for Cocktail oysters and 45 cents for 3 inch oysters. Like most farmers of any type its not us that's making the big money, it's the buyers who resell

How long did you spend on PEI? I potentially could take 3-4 weeks in the Fall and drive up the Maine coast, then go to PEI and Nova Scotia? Oysters will be the focus. Do you think a week each in Maine, PEI and NS is doable? Could it be too rushed?
@majorkade4 жыл бұрын
Isn't the Fall the best time to get them?
@wasupfool56923 жыл бұрын
Yes, they fatten up for the winter and are much fuller and tastier in the fall
