I have gotten used to a Peterson Strobo CLIP ON tuner and I wouldn't want to miss it, but the Strobo Stomp HD is just unreal in how fast and precisely it lets you tune your instrument and I am proud to use them exclusively at 42 Gear Street!

I ordered the tuner 8 weeks before it came out. Espacially if you want to tune 7 or even 8 string guitars i found the polytune always wants to got to the polytune function. Because it can´t track the low notes very well. The peterson is perfect, even 8 string in drop E is no problem.

A Strobe Tuner is perfect for extended range guitars and basses. Even on standard tuned basses it is often difficult to have a good E or B. If you tune down it even gets worser. I sure would love to have a Peterson Strobe tuner, I know them from my former day time Job in a music shop. I used a not pedalboard sized one for intonating guitars and basses.

I used a Polytune 1 in Strobe Mode before and hated it for beeing so unaccurate (Polytune was so bad on the first ones you can´t use it). Now i have this beauty and it is a AMAZING TUNER! The sweetend Tuning works really great on my main guitar in the studio!

Since the Andertons tuner video and the Paul Davids video on harmonics creating off tune feeling in in tune settings, tuning is intrigueing and a little confusing to me. Indeed, when the tuners says OK, my ears don't always agree. So, tuners deserve attention.
@wea69420
@wea69420 5 жыл бұрын
A lot of times the problems arise from the instrument itself rather than the tuners. It's rather easy to make a tuner that's accurate, but that's worth very little on a guitar with straight frets, for example.

I am getting confused too... The tuner stands still for an electric signal in tune, no? Because it certainly doesn't for an acoustic wave, it flickers around hysterically. Peterson doesn't send me a reply to my inquiry, so I am now asking you, dear guitar diggers. Does the Peterson tuners apply to acoustic guitars? They should, because there are Pson clip ons for the head as well. And, yes folks, that one flickers around insanely as well... Please reply w/o hard feelings, because I am only eager to understand. I don't see how P clip ons could ever compete with a D'Addario clip on. And i am finding use for my Pson anyway, if not for guitar tuning. It's a cool gadget anyway.

I'm curious as to the sound quality of the buffer. The PolyTune3 and Boss Waza TU-3 have both placed major emphasis in their marketing on this important topic. BOSS stating their's is "improved" & TC even market tested their "Bonafide" buffer as an independent unit first. Peterson basically just mentions" it has one," or that you can switch to True bypass. I did not like the sound quality of the buffer in my old Blue Strobostomp. Is this new one better? What type of circuit is it? Op amp, Transistor, Fet, Germanium lol.. What?! Is it similar to any buffer currently on the market? Has anyone listened to it in a true bypass fx loop pedal to compare against a reasonable amount of cable (15ft or so) I will most likely purchase the tuner pedal which includes a buffer that sounds the most like 12 ft of cable between my guitar and amp. I would be immensely happy if it's the Peterson, as I do use cent offsets (sweetened tunings). How is the buffer?! !
@PetersonTuners
@PetersonTuners 5 жыл бұрын
Seen this same question from you on another video: reply below. The quality of the buffer in the StroboStomp HD was extremely important and was a critical part of the design consideration. The quality of the sound when playing was (and is regarded) as important as the tuning accuracy. The original, blue StroboStomp you mention did not feature a buffered output. It was simply true-bypass by design and modeled after the popular VS-series in the early 2000s with a high-quality through. The StroboStomp HD is our first pedal tuner with a buffered output option. We do not use op-amps with a high input impedance because the noise floor would be too high for our requirements. The StroboStomp HD has a discrete JFET transistor buffer to ensure high input impedance with very low noise. High input impedance is very important because it reduces the effect of long cable runs between the guitar and the StroboStomp HD, as you may know. The Stomp HD buffer has an input impedance of 5 megohms across the audio band while many pedals regard 1 megohm the standard. The goal of the buffer in the Stomp HD is to NOT alter the sound. With a gain of 0 dB, the purpose of the buffer is to lower the drive impedance to 100 ohms, so that a downstream cable or load from a downstream device would not alter or color the sound. We hope you decide to give it a try!

@@PetersonTuners PetersonTuners I absolutely will give it a try. I'm very excited to do so! Thank you for the quick and thorough reply. That's RIGHT... , it was not a buffer it was labeled as a D. I. as I recall. I tried it as a buffer but Immediately switched back to true bypass. I posted this question on a few vids on this pedal, because I asked a similar one a few days back on "that pedal show" 's vid but nobody had an answer. Sorry for the repitition!
