Ilya Malinin (eng. Ilia Malinin; b. December 2, 2004, Fairfax) is an American figure skater who competes in single skating. World Champion (2024), bronze medalist of the World Championship (2023), winner of the Grand Prix final (2023), bronze medalist of the Grand Prix final (2022), two-time U.S. champion (2023, 2024), silver medalist of the U.S. championship (2022), world junior champion (2022), winner of the team the World Cup (2023).

I adore him like most people. He always had something extra. Delighted that he is world champion. All his performances are phenomenal, Ilia is a free electron, an authentic virtuoso artist of the highest spheres of light. He lives each of his musics, however eclectic they may be. He seems to be improvising, as Ilia Malinin is such a free, fiery and impetuous electron ! I love how natural it is : ) Always bewitching, mesmerizing. Always more numerous, more distant and higher, these are the jumps of Ilia Malinin. Charisma, flexibility, enthusiasm, passion, the juices of youth, Ilia has the gift ! Unique jumps ! Interstellar, Ilia defies the law of gravity ! Magician with his skates brushing the ice, flying over the rinks with his aura! Phenomenal ! Compliments : ) Although he skates in the USA : he is the Slavic soul in all its splendor / Aerial, Magic, Great/Genius, Light and Winner's Vibes ! With admiration ! I always really liked that bluesy number, “ I put a spell on you…” The choreography was fabulous and the passion he skated it with was amazing.

You missed his best ever short programme - the one at last year's Grand Prix final where he landed a quad axel as the optional individual jump, the first time a 4A was done in the short and it was also, in my humble opinion, the best 4A Ilia has ever landed in competition so far - it really flew and the landing was impeccable. The sound of the take off and landing on that jump was beautiful, like the perfect sound you expect to hear when closing the door on a Rolls Royce or a Ferrari.
