Hey bernth, Is there any chance you could do another video like the 15 min exercises for speed ect., but instead for sweep picking, or even some arpeggio shapes. I have done your 10 steps to shredding on your website and i helped me a lot, honestly. Sweep picking is a topic i uave always found difficult and ive been practicing it for about 3months now. Love the content man, keep it up.

Thanks Berth. I watch a lot of your lessons but, even after playing for 35 years, you are just light years ahead with your technique and speed, so I struggle. This lesson has really helped though. I am getting better hand sync and slowly increasing speed. Also helping me improve my transitions between strings. Thanks!

Practicing timing to programmed drum patterns instead of a metronome is a great idea I should utilize more often. I've found playing to a metronome helps keep you honest for down beats, but doesn't necessarily enforce good timing on parts in between downbeats. I'll definitely be doing work with drum patterns and accents to develop better clarity in my speed picking. Excellent lesson Bernth!

That's a great exercise, indeed! You can also try a little tweak, by adding a little economy picking when moving from one chord to the other. For example, when going from the 6th to the 5th string, the picking can be (6th)down-up-down, (5th) down-up-down-up. And returning, maybe (1st) up-down-up (2nd) up-down-up-down. What do you think about that? I gave it a little try and it was challenging (for me at least).

Can you please make a video on how you dial your guitar tone? I think many of us don't have an expensive amp and hence rely on vst plugins for generating our guitar tone for recording and practice (atleast I do that). And you know, it's really depressing to work on my techniques having a bad guitar tone. So if you can make a video on how you dial your tones using vsts like Bias fx 2 or guitar rig, that'll be also really helpful for many of us, hope so. Btw, love your work and efforts man🙏, Greetings from India❤️

When you speed picking at 2:05 is your right hand "floating in the air" completely or is a little bit on the bridge? Beginner question so my apologies if is stupid :D I guess my biggest obstacle is to retain speed on all the strings equally when moving the hand up or down the strings...
@XYZLMNOP3 жыл бұрын
Not a beginner question. I was thinking that too because his picking hand seems to be efficiently picking the notes.
@EclecticEssentric3 жыл бұрын
Your palm-side is usually quieting the strings during this (resting on them). But it can depend on the player and sound. By touching with the palm or a guide finger (like pinky-resting), you maintain better hand location knowledge as well as string control.

He has perfect synchronization regardless of his speed. How do you work on that? I can play fast, but my lack of synchronization shows on sweep arpeggios and plying to certain drum beats like in this vid. And it's SO F#$kin' frustrating. Everyone says I'm the only one that notices, maybe so, but it's still an area I need improvement. Thanks for your lessons, they're musical, scale related and they work quickly if you take the time to put in the work.
