Couple notes: - Like seeing Casey rocking the Seven Oaks beanie. That video was crazy good. - Hyland has been my hometown park so this one got me right in the feels. Casey glowing about the place I learned to ski, then snowboard, then ride park at? Stoke meter on overload bro. - Probably passed you as I was coming back from riding in MI. I was going South, you were going North. Sad I missed you this time around, but saw you still caught some mad pow in the UP. - Tow ropes == laps --> Hyland tow ropes == MAD laps. - Lemme know if you need a place for a few days. I know some guys who know some guys who can hook you up for a week easy with room and food, just say the word man. The Willax support network is the real deal homie! Not sure who else needs to hear this, but man, everyday you wake up and think, "What else could go wrong in the world today?" Then you try and escape, but its everywhere. So you switch on KZbin and pull up the latest CVlog. Then you see the positivity, the smiles, the sessions where everybody is throwing down bangers, riding and have a blast. Then you realize you're now laughing and smiling and all those negative feelings? They just disappear. Faith restored, hope renewed, positivity meter back at 100%. Best. Tour. Ever.

What you described is EXACTLY how I describe snowboarding in general...no matter how bad or sad life might be, or how horrible the world seems...when I get out there on the snow my mind goes blank! Straight zombie bliss. All negative feelings thoughts and worries gone! And sometimes it's lasts for days after I'm off the mountain. Of course getting to experience it through the Casey lense when I'm not on the snow has become a crucial compliment to it all...and definitely puts a fat smile on my face.
@darksaga802 жыл бұрын
@@flisms hells yeah feel the same way. When your riding everything fades away. It's like being in a total zen state of mind. I think Casey channels a lot of that and you can feel it in his videos. But yeah brother I'm right there with you!! 👊

I grew up here riding at hyland hills every sunday me and my friends would lap that park for hours. This place is the reason local legends like joe sexton got so good at rails I used to see him at hyland once in a while as well as other pro's that came out of the same area. We don't have backcountry stuff or powder to distract us from learning new tricks all there is to do here is lap this park all day with friends slaying rails and jumps until every trick in the book becomes engrained into your muscle memory.

There is also a small surfing community in duluth in the winter during storms lake superior gets some double overhead waves and people surf it in arctic wetsuits, no sharks just ice chunks lol.

Grew up in mpls early 2000’s riding nights at highland. Ended up moving out to Tahoe where I still reside. I love the sierra terrain and snow when we get it but nothing for park riding compares to the nights at highland. Out here you get maybe 8-10 laps and at highland 30-40. Progression multiplier. That rope tow is no joke! Just ripping through mitts! Gotta get those leather covers for highland local status🤙

Around 6:11 I noticed you did a nice front 3 melon off your "heels" (where you didn't wash out your edge!) and then you did a front 7 melon off your "toes" at 6:45. So you can do both and that's rad. I've been working on these frontside spins and studying videos of these. Lately I've been practicing the front 3 melon (which feels super good when I nail it) and switch front 3's mostly off my heels, but often I am washing out my edge. I've been wondering if I can leave a clean edge off the jump with a frontside spin off the heels???? Likes like you did that above. I hike up sometimes and check my line, but can see the edge is not clean. So I guess the answer is probably practice and my timing is not so good? But man if I try off my toes I can't go past 180 and I will often end up doing an inverted 180 to butt slam. I watched your video on Bomb hole and like your faith in traveling and just going for it. It's hard cause most people are so fearful about moving. I've lived in 8 states and 4 other countries, but it's good to hear your thoughts because fear creeps in my mind sometimes too and prevents me from making that move. 8:08 you call that a frontside rodeo or front 5? I'd say rodeo but hear commentators smtms say front 5. Anyways that was sick. Love those toe side frontside spins.
