Since I’ve seen this comment a few times: No, I don’t suspect AmSoGood is using RTA. I want to clear this up because I would hate for this video to create undeserved rumors about a great player. I’ve played enough with him to be quite confident that he’s playing honestly, plus, they are playing on PokerStars who has excellent RTA detection.

Phil, I've been wathcing some of your stream vs Jungle, and it looks to me that you very rarely donk flop or turn. Do you not implement a flop/turn donk strategy to simplify your game tree?
@zefix1234

@@ivanwong8281 donking does not simplify the gametree, it makes it more complicated. you have to balance your checking and your donkingrange. unless you want to donk 100% in some spots which seems kinda ill advised.

It's like bodybuilding without steroids, if you don't use it you will be crushed by someone who does. In the AJ37 hand on KT29, the tiny bet feels like a classic block bet that you get in Holdem these days - where you still have a range advantage so want to put a bit of money into the pot but now lack the nut advantage. And it becomes a nice exploitative line too where you get to see a cheap showdown with some hands like the one he has that would have to fold the turn to any reasonable sizing. 1/3 pot like you said you might do (and what i would do) just seems like too expensive for what the bet is trying to achieve.

Good catch Zach and Dori. I'm not a vision expert, but I think you actually can't choose the color/suit of the board. But Phil analyses AJ65 two spades (ace high spades), two hearts on 732 two spades, one heart. On the hand he looks up in vision, the 2 red cards on the board match the ace high suit (red) so it is the correct hand to look up. It is confusing the first time you see that.

Everyone in Sweden knew who Isilidur1 was maybe a year before the rest of the world knew, atleast mid-highstakes players, but noone is sure about Berri and its been 15 years by now. Its good that noone knows because if his identity would come out he would be at very high risk of robberys, Sweden is terrible at this time.

If we don’t call top set on those type of turns, isn’t our calling range really screwed on rivers where the draws brick, since we can never be nutted?
@PhilGalfond
@PhilGalfond Жыл бұрын
On a lot of turns, yes (like the straight boards I mentioned), but on board pairing rivers, we have plenty of boats from weaker 2pr hands and tons of trips, which is plenty good to put stacks in. On overcard rivers, we can hit sets or top two. Board coverage is important, but it’s almost always easy to make big hands on bricks even if we fast play when there isn’t a straight, flush, or pair out there.
@Nick-xu7ns

@@PhilGalfond That makes a lot of sense. I’m way more of an NLH guy than PLO, so still figuring out how the idea behind range constructions differ in spots like that. And that’s very insightful because I was definitely looking at incorrectly and probably just costing myself value by not raising enough in those spots. Also I appreciate you taking the time to respond. I think it’s incredible to have a top pro just answering strategy questions that random people pose. So thanks for that, Phil.
