2x Canon 5D Mk IV - $2,699 Tamron 35mm f/1.8 Di VC - $599 Canon 85mm f/1.4L - $1,599 Canon 70-200 f/2.8L III - $2,099 $9,695 (all prices new) That's basically what I've been using to shoot weddings. It's not mirrorless but you can probably find even better deals on used gear going the DSLR/EF route. I really like the 35/85 pairing as the primary lenses for the day with the 70-200 giving me versatility in the zoom for the ceremony and portraits. The 85/70-200 combo also gives some redundancy if there is a lens issue. As for sticking with a 5D over the R5/R6, it comes to cost and megapixels. The R5 is expensive and I would like to see what a mark II might look like and the R6 at 20 megapixels is a little tight for my preference but I do like to crop. That being said, if I was starting from scratch I would be tempted by a Nikon setup.

Ha, not many people I know like the 28mm focal length but I love it. Standard adapter shipped free with R6 bodies but upgraded to control ring option for €200 Total €8,594 Worth noting and you already mentioned the AF jump from my 5D's to the R6's. Now I really trust my 135 F2 with the R6 autofocus, it's like having a new lens in the bag, even tracking at F2 with pin sharp results. Thank you Sony for making Canon wake up! :)

Great video, and some awesome lens choices, I could probably shoot with your lens choices there not the problem, but what about lighting?, where thrusted into environments and situations where the lighting is not always complimentary, harsh lighting were a fill light helps and most receptions have horrible lighting, I would need at least 1 off camera Godox 200 with trigger and one on camera Godox V1, At least another 1K, which means I would have to sacrifice the Canon RF 50mm F1.2 for the Sigma 50Art F1.4 which to be honest I have the canon Sigma art and it seems great to me, I am really happy with it. although to be honest I have never used he canon RF 50 f1.2 so I guess I don’t know what I am missing.

Looking forward to seeing your other videos in this series!

Ok in this case. 5d mark Iv R6 (for better hybrid video clips plus run and gun.Adapter) Canon 85 1.4L the new one from few years ago. Is better than the sigma art Canon 35 1.4Lii also way better character and is just as sharp. Because I believe the 35 85 combo is really the way to go. Third lens should be a zoom like the Rf 24-105 f4 In my experience I’ve come to the realization that no camera does everything great some shoot with artificial light better some shoot natural light better some are better run and gun some are portrait cameras. I do not like the R6 as main portrait camera. Yes it’s very sharp but the images are not spectacular like the R5 or GFX line. The best I’ve seen is the 100s for portraits but the 50sii is great too. Here in canon space definitely R5 but with this budget 5d markiv will do. I mean you picked adapted lenses anyway mark Iv way better than the R6! It’s a better quality output image. Just get the R5 and a backup camera lol 5d markiii used. Your work as wedding professional has to be evident!! And magnificent. Can’t stress this enough starting a business for 10-15k is nothing in the long run and you have to show value over an IPhone and the R6 isn’t my choice for that. Ps. I’ve shot with the R6 and Even though it has the same processor as the 1DX Mark three the filter places in front of the sensor kills the image and is in no way similar to the 1dx. So it’s not the megapixels here that is the issue. 20 is fine. Another option is the rf50 1.2. This lens is a masterpiece!!!! You can set the R5 to shoot in crop and turn this into an 80 1.8 lens and get a lot of using the R5 which in crop mode gets 20mp I believe. I just shot a job using R6 and the Nikon D810 and the Nikon blew!!!!!!! The R6 out of the water. You cannot compare these files. Anyone want to see welcome to show. And the R5 is even better than that.

I'm thinking to buy r3 and 28-70 f2 as a beggining in rf world. Is it not overkill for portraits and weddings? R3 gets great iso ressults and i dont need 45mpx, but still is 6 grams... What do You think about that?
@benjhaisch2 жыл бұрын
The R3 is overkill for sure IMO. Maybe an R6 with a grip and maybe another R6 with a cheap 50 or something as a backup?
@rdog773 жыл бұрын
This was a great idea to talk about. I happened to have pretty much those same focal lengths, expect I went cheaper with the 1.) Canon RF 35mm F1.8 STM 2.) The Canon RF 50mm F1.8 and 3.) Samyang 85mm F1.4. All which gives you spectacular results. Customers don’t know the difference between taking a picture at F1.2 or F1.4 nor F1.8 for that matter. I also incorporate an adapted Tamron EF 70-200mm F2.8 into the mix. All on my EOS R. However, I would agree that dual cards slots would give a better comfort level in case of a problem. Last I have a similar set up with Fujifilm X-T3 and X-T4 that I use when I want a lighter setup. It’s the best APS-C option anyone could ask for. Lenses are Fuji 16mm F2.8, and Vltrox 23mm F1.4, Vltrox 56mm F1.4, and the Fuji 50-140mm F2.8. You can save a lot of money using 3rd party lenses

Hi BenJ, Thanks for putting through this video and seeking viewer feedback. I agree with you that when you take work flow into account then high resolution camera body places significant burden on each wedding shoot to process 1500-2000 shots. Though Canon R5 is overall better camera than R6 I would buy the R6 from workflow and price point of view. In today's weddings market slow motion video clips is a must. So you need a quality lens with IS to take video footage. This way with R6's IBIS and fully stabilized lens you could get 6-8 stops of image stabilization gain. Remember without quality lens you will never gain the full potential of R5/R6 image quality. So you have to invest in quality lens. Also, you need a very fast 85mm lens for the bokeh. High quality Canon EF L lens produces stunning images with R6 far superior than 5D Mark IV because of the autofocus and low light ability of R5/R6. In order to accommodate two R6 I had to let go RF L lens. Here are my kit under $10K: Canon R6 x 2 = $5000 Canon EF 16-35mm IS f4 L $700 (used) Canon EF 85mm f1.2 L $1200 (used) Canon EF 50mm f1.2 L $1000 (used) SanDisk 256GB Extreme Pro x 8 = $500 Lens filter x 6 = $300 Low Pro camera bag x 1 = $350 Canon Battery LP E6 NH x 6 = 500 Canon EF to RF Lens Mount adapter x 1 = $100 Manfrotto 502AH Video Head & MT055XPRO3 Aluminum Tripod Kit x 1 = $350 Total = $10,000
