To answer your confusion about West Virginia: During the American Civil War, Virginia was one of the southern states that seceded from the Union. However, the 10 western counties of the state disagreed with secession and stayed with the Union, effectively spearated themselves as an indepent territory. So, in 1863, the western were formed into the state of West Virginia and it was admitted to the United States. I know you didn't ask but it's both a fun and interesting hisotrical fact!

Not even an honorable mention for Heath Slater or Jamie Noble from WV?

I thought Savage was billed from Sarasota, Florida

This is about where they were born NOT from where they are billed
@JouvaMoufette9 ай бұрын
@@chrisduncan5842 I'm aware of that part, so he definitely wouldn't qualify for Florida. But in the video they say Savage was BILLED from California.
@thomassinclair68289 ай бұрын
Savage was born in Ohio. But grew up and lived the majority of his prowrestling life in Illinois. Just south of Chicago. The should have been Mox. You could have given Macho Illinois.

I know this list is subjective, but as a native South Carolinian, I'm surprised Big Show wasn't chosen since he has had many accolades over his nearly thirty-year career.

More wrestlers from Michigan: Bruiser Brody, Gus Sonnenberg, Allysin Kay, Ruby Soho, Danhausen, the Motor City Machine Guns, Brandi Rhodes, the Shiek, Sabu, Sara Lee (RIP), Dan Severn, George Steele ... and that's giving Lou Thesz to Missouri.

As a Marylander, I understand the Keibler pick; though LA Knight could overtake her fame in a few years time. But shoutout, too, to Gillberg and James Ellsworth.

Mick Foley was born in Bloomington, Indiana, making him a SUBSTANTIALLY better choice for that state than Ultimate Warrior.

So was Terry funk

@@zerothepanda02 didn’t know that. Wow, they really missed the mark on Indiana.

Foley wasn’t even 1 when his family left Indiana and Funk was maybe 2 years old when his family moved to Texas. Still tho I agree better than Warrior.
@adammeyer3471289 ай бұрын
@@StairwellTheCat it seemed like they moved the goalposts at times. Sometimes it was where they were born, sometimes it was where they were raised. Flair was born in Tennessee I believe, but was raised by his foster parents in Minnesota. Just because he is more known for living in North Carolina doesn’t mean he didn’t grow up elsewhere. If it was only by birth, Funk or Foley for Indiana. If it was growing up there, Flair for Minnesota for sure. Also, it’s borderline criminal Terry Funk didn’t even get an honorable mention for either Indiana or Texas.

“Let’s travel to the 51st state, shall we?” Puerto Rico? “The state of Ric Flair.” Didn’t see that coming.

Mae is the right choice. Danny Hodge deserves a better acknowledgement though. The collegiate award for best wrestler is literally named after him. He gave the industry so much credibility as both an accomplished wrestler and boxer. He was a combat sport pioneer and as the NWA Jr heavyweight champion he main evented shows in 5 countries.

Can't believe you went for Daniel Danielson instead of Greg The Hammer Valentine. Also when it got to Nevada I had to look up Nevada's most famous wrestler Jim The Anvil Neidhart, only to find he was born in Montebello California. Enjoyed the rest of the list.

No slight on the man but Big Kev is NOT the best Pro-Wrestler from Detroit, let alone Michigan. Not saying he's bad and isn't one of the biggest stars in the business but the likes of MCMG, RVD & Christopher Daniels I think are just better when it comes to ability between the ropes.
