Magic training tool. My female Corso came naked at 20 months. Now a service dog. Thank you for giving me the power to take an unknown dog, meaning her background, to service dog without the traditional cost and we developed a bond stronger than marriage.

Please inform users that the point of using the collar is NOT TO INDUCE PAIN. It's supposed to regress the dog to a puppy mind in order to imprint commands better. The leash is supposed to HANG IN THE FRONT WITH THE PRONGS ON THE NAPE OF THE NECK.

THE PRONG COLLAR IS TO BE FITTED UP HIGH ON THE DOGS NECK, UNDER HIS/HER JAWLINE. ABOVE THE WINDPIPE!!! When fitted properly, add or subtract links to fit correctly, THESE COLLARS DO WORK, AND DO NOT HURT THE DOG! They should NEVER be used on aggressive dogs!!! And THIS MAN JUST FIT THAT DOGS PRONG COLLAR CORRECTLY! You have no idea how many people do not put it where it’s supposed to go! This specific place mimics where either a momma dog, or alpha dog bites another pack member to get them to listen!!! BRAVO 👏 SIR!

I read about it, looks like you need to know what you are doing to use it. I never owned a strong breed ( used to be a pom owner) so I think this is not for me 😅. If you get one of those strong breed, how do you gain the experience for training them? Or must you use a trainer for your first time? My husband wanted a bigger dog but i am not sure i know enough to do this.

Just so you know, this collar is banned in several countries especially because of the way it is designed to hurt the dogs. Yes if you can't control your dog those spikes are very useful. The reason it's so efficient is quite obvious. The thing is a dog well trained and well socialized don't need this and an untrain dog should always be trained. Period. Many big dog owners take those collars by default and just pull the leash instead of doing actual training. I saw 4 months old puppies with this collar pulling and getting hold by the leash by their owners.. I own a 1,5y/o 30kg german Shepard, I knew nothing about dog but I learned it. I trained her every days, she is absolutely perfect in all subjects now. In Europe dogs are not less well behaved than in US so this collar is not a factor of efficiency. It's an extrem solution for extrem cases not a norm.

@@RitalUPI have a 4 year old cane corso. I tried for TWO YEARS to train her to not pull on the leash with zero improvement. I tried every trick in the book. The moment I put the prong collar on correctly, she stopped pulling. It was a breeze to wean her off of it and now she rarely pulls with just her flat collar. It was never designed to hurt the dog, the only people who say that have never actually used one. It’s a perfect training tool because most of the time, the dog checks their own behavior. It doesn’t hurt, it’s a feeling of pressure. It’s exactly like how dogs correct each other all the time. By using a prong collar, you’re communicating in their language that they cannot behave a certain way and that doing so will be uncomfortable. That’s it.

Herm Sprenger recently came out with a 3 mm Short Link prong collar. Each link is 1” in length whereas the 3.3 ones are 1 1/2” in length. This allows you to fit the collar better on a smaller neck as you get 3 short prongs in the space of 2 regular prongs. Got mine from Katie’s Buckles❤

Im a firm believer in this collar for a choker. They have helped me with all of the hard heads and very strong dogs ive ever had. They weren't aggressive but very strong and hard to walk. Plus with their strength it helped me control them just in case they did want to go after another animal. Ive used these for yrs on all large breeds

Used the 3.0 mm for my corso for awhile but the chains are larger/harder to fit through the links so it doesn’t tighten with the same sensitivity that the 2.25mm does when there’s small changes in distance/lack on the leash. Changing to 2.25 for this reason. Appreciate the video

I know it seems obvious to you what to do - but I was confused when I went to order because when you enter neck size, you get bumped up to 3.0 or whatever it is. Thank you for clarifying exactly how to order. I will also say that I had the Herm Sprenger that is flat on the top - the prongs are disguised (so you don’t have to hear anyone’s opinion on how cruel you’re being to your dog and that whole conversation). It took 3 weeks to get to CA from Israel and it broke. I’m ordering the 2.5 one you use, with extra prongs.

I was going to get one of these cause my 120+ cane started pulling and stopped responding as well as what he had been. I was mentioning doing so at my last vet check-up, but my vet said not to because he has a decent amount of loose skin and if I got a prong I’d be likely to rip off a chunk of his skin and severely hurt him and so I should just get a martingale. I’d really like to hear your opinion of this because I know my vet doesn’t have much experience with the breed because there are not many cane Corso owners in our area and she did want to make sure I knew that she had limited knowledge on in-depth breed specifics.

I’m currently using a slipknot in hopes when he pulls it tightens and he’ll stop but no luck, I try walking him off lead and he does well when there’s nothing around, he walks beside me and if he does go forward he always waits for me in a down stay position but he’s also skidding due to his young age, any recommendations are welcome :)

I have a full blooded working line German shepherd, great blood line. His parents have giving birth to police and military dogs and some service dogs due to his genes being very smart and physically capable. He’s 11 months old pushing 100 pounds (big boy) he learned the typical commands you should teach them “sit” “down” “stay” etc since he was 6 weeks old when I picked him up. And learned it pretty quick even with a little hand/finger commands for sit and down. I wonder what size he would be for one of those lol. The dog in this video is the Cane Corso. He doesn’t really recommend them to 99% of people. He tends to recommend the working line german Shepard to most people cause it’s not to big or small, great drive to protect, but most importantly has probably the highest emotional intelligence of PPD’s so if you have kids, or family/friends come by often it’ll be the best at becoming a sweet pet for those situations.

Why not a 3mm? I’ve always heard other trainers like Jeff and Sean always use 2.25 and 3. Curious what your experience is.

The 2.25 is like garret said, what fits the needs for 99 percent of dogs. If you have an extremely soft dog then you can utilize the 3.0 or 3.2 because the corrections aren't as hard as the 2.25. That said the 3.0 on a harder dog will require an even harder correction compared to the 2.25 etc.

I just bought a 3.0mm for my English lab, any issue with the 3.0?

You may need some harder corrections with this vs. The 2.25

I’m a dog trainor and prong collars are so mentally damaging to your dogs so don’t use it guys. You can do all your training with positive renforcement and gain your dog’s trust

why is the 2.25 recommended over a 3.0 ?

The 2.25 typically gives a more precise correction when used properly.

Does anyone else have a hard time adjusting their H-S prong collar? I think my hands are too weak. I cant pinch it hard enough.
