Thanks for the review Edd! I googled reviews for this shoe as I am thinking of buying them for the upcoming Dublin Marathon and need to break them in a little before the big day and then save them. Your review has made me purchase them just now for a great price of 200 euro (reduced on sale). The algorithm is working as your page was the first to come up after I searched. I have subscribed and liked. Looking forward to following you for more great reviews!!

Interesting review. I don’t think my feet or running style would be compatible with this shoe, but I am using Pumas Nitro Forever Run shoes. They are pretty springy and the grip is great. The downside is that they are 10mm drop and a bit clumpy at times. I would be interested to hear what version 2 might be like. I am usually a Saucony wearer, but I thought I would give these a try. I have a pair and I would agree entirely with the review. In amongst my Puma stable of the Deviate Nitro Elite 2, Deviate Nitro 2, Magnify Nitro 2 and Liberate Nitro 2 the Fast R 2s are my favourite. The only point of difference I would have is the use case, I'm 97 kilograms, I have no issue with bottoming out the foam and in a 2km time trial the Puma Fast R2 eclipsed the Adios Pro 3, Alphafly 2, Endorphin Pro 3 and the Deviate Nitro Elite 2, I also felt there was less perceived effort. Will be interesting to see if my Alphafly 3s knock them off. Great review and great work Puma.

The excellent fit/upper here really cannot be understaded. I was worried because the Velocity was far too narrow for me but the Fast R was great. Foam was really nice too. I really want to sit and talk with the folks saying Pumas aren't durable, they probably don't think Adidas are durable either. Also can we just take a second and appreciate the presentation of Puma's racing shoes. Adidas, Asics and Nike just give you generic boxes. Puma's racing boxes and overall presentation are the best I've seen

Interesting Velocity 2 is too narrow for me too, and not many shoes I have are. I was thinking it might have been the way Puma translates sizes, as my US size 9.5 is 42.5 European, where most brands are 43 or 43.33. Do you have the Fast R and Velocity in the same size?
@michaelcaricoo4 ай бұрын
@Ezechel.Trifan yeah I did a US 10.5 for both, interestingly I can do a normal 10.5 in the Magnify Nitro, Deviate Nitro 2, Deviate Elite 2 (that ones snug but ok), and the Fast R. Just not the velocity
@spartanB02924 ай бұрын
Interesting that y'all say the Velocity 2 is too narrow. I was told that as a wide footer I should go for VN2 rather than the Deviate Nitro 2. I ended up getting the DN2 instead, it's not a wide shoe but it wasn't narrow either.

Ed, this shoe is fantastic. I bought one and my experience with it is absolutely wonderful. But, there’s a bigger brother of this one, called Puma Fasrtroid. It’s a kind of training version of the Fast R. No one has ever talked about that shoe, and even Puma seems to be giving everyone a confused information. Is it a running shoe or just a fashion version? I bought a pair, have done some running with it and I think it is a very good training shoe, although it’s on the heavier side of the spectrum.

Hello Ed - yes is over 40mm so more foam then some of other super shoes but only by ~2mm but still considering this very heavy. At this price better to get nike vaporfly or ASICS edge/sky as much lighter and proven winners. Puma to sell this shoe needs to lower the price much.

Good video again Edd. On the strength of your initial video I picked up a pair and so far so good. Marathon PB and 10days later a 5k PB. For context (as people go on about these type of shoes only being useful for relatively faster and/or lighter runners) I’m 58, 11st and times were 3:22:47 marathon and 19:12 5k. So not sure if I’m the type of runner these are intended for or not. 🤷🏻♂️😂 Still not sure if these feel as bouncy when running as my Adios Pro 2’s or Takumi Sen 8’s, but time will tell. I've been intrigued with this shoe since the first sneak peak, but I am befuddled a bit about the durometer. I just recently watched another run reviewer's first take on this shoe, and everything he said was the exact opposite, in fact he stated the durometer stats were between 40-50 in most places and commented it was one of the stiffest midsoles he had tried. I'm wondering if this is a QC issue or a discrepancy between US and EU models? Or perhaps yours' are just broken in?? Thoughts?

So I've got a question for you Sensei ref Fast R v Fast R 2. So.... I bought the Fast R 2 after your video made me (😂😂) and I absolutely love it....BUT....it's turned out to be not what I originally intended. It's my absolute go to for upper easy runs, moderate and tempo efforts (and once I'm back post hernia op 😢😢I think it will be my half marathon race shoe. I had looked at the OG Fast R for a while but chickened out due to yours (and others) reviews based on the stiffer EVA at the sole end of things. I've had very bad experiences with stiffer foams and always deviate (get it...😉😂)to softer foams. However i fancied the Fast R 2 as a speed option but it's turned out to be a cushioned fast cruiser. So what I'm probably trying to ask is....would I be disappointed if I bit the bullet and got some of the OG Fast R's for a speed/short rep option or from your testing would you push me away from it? This question made sense in my head but the signals between brain and fingers have been pickled for years 😂😂

The Fast R 2 is supposed to be a TPU, not PEBA, one of the things that makes me interested in it, TPU is far more durable and that was what Puma claimed was a goal for the shoe. Looking forward to more higher milage reviews of it to see if it holds up to the claims.

@@EDDBUD found the exact foam on a Believe in the Run article. "Speaking of foams, the Puma Fast-R Nitro Elite 2 uses one that I had to Google. It’s called aliphatic ETPU. While big brands in the US favor Peba, Chinese sporting shoe brands like Li-Ning and Anta have been using aliphatic ETPU in their race day shoes, and Puma claims the foam has a 93% energy return. While I can’t scientifically back that up, the foam does have a lively rebound." So a different type of TPU to what we are familiar with.
